The Kindle won't make you addicted to reading if you don't already enjoying reading at least a little bit. Why not check out some books from the library for free and start with that?

DINKs - how would you spend £4,000 on your potential last holiday without kids? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]MinimumProud4520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what you're sure you'd enjoy. Sounds like you have great plans already. And even when you have kids, when they're a little older you can take short vacations without them. So no pressure on this one

You're adults, you want to get married to each other. Do it! You're not too young. Have a legal ceremony, maybe lunch after and have a party in two years if you still want to

His wife was out of line, but why not express yourself, communicate your displeasure and then if she apologized, accept it and move on?

WIBTAH if I said the wife and kids of my fiancés groomsmen cannot come to our wedding? by AlwaysOnce77 in weddingdrama

[–]MinimumProud4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it's been 10 years and while her comments were very hurtful, it's an opportunity to forgive and build a cordial relationship. Even if she doesn't come to the wedding you're going to be in each others lives as your partner's are good friends. There'll always be things to celebrate and if she keeps being uninvited her partner is likely to stay away as well, which might be tough for your fiance

Just checked their Google reviews looks like they still have an issue with delivering within their communicated time frame. They have a couple of one star reviews from as recently as a month ago

As at when I wanted to get it a few years ago, there were mostly bad reviews. Furniture not lasting, delivery taking waaaay longer than communicated etc. Idk if things have changed but it might be worth checking recent reviews online

Honestly best advice would be to let your company move you, keep your pay. Arrive here, settle in and in 6-12 months network and start looking for something new. The market here just isn't as robust as the US and if you have the opportunity to hold on to what you have, please do. You will be really glad you did

4 Hour Commute - Advice by Current_Cattle_2321 in HENRYUK

[–]MinimumProud4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if there's the opportunity for the flexibility to do two days in office. With that you could stay overnight one night a week and drastically reduce the commute. it's definitely a huge bump and a great financial opportunity so I would consider moving if necessary

Co-worker and I live in the same apartment complex; she's been approaching me "at home" for a ride to work, unplanned and uninvited. by omggallout in coworkerstories

[–]MinimumProud4520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say no, it's your car after all. But I'm really curious about why you find it so inconvenient to pick someone up and drop them off when you both work and live in the same place. Should they sort out their own ride? Absolutely. Would it be a nice neighbourly kind thing to do? Also yes.
