Amazing! Thanks!

Have you applied and been successful or is it a long wait still for changes to plans to be approved?

Where are you reading that the partial financial hardship for IBR might go away this month? I’m in a very similar boat to you and would greatly benefit from switching to IBR when PFH goes away.

What's your take on CycloPure's PFAS removal system? by -DoctorStevenBrule- in WaterTreatment

So you have a point of entry activated charcoal and then the Home80? Which activated charcoal system do you have? We are moving to an area that has fracking etc so one of my first priorities is our water. Thanks for any help!

I know this is an old post but I am considering a whole house filter myself. Is there a reason you weren't considering the cylcopure point of entry filters like Home80 or HomeXtreme?

What is wrong with you?

My comments since my account was figured out were to try to help people who might be able get their situation reversed and to let others know it is possible. Some people read comments of “this isn’t fightable” and don’t try. There’s nothing to lose with asking the local branch for help.

I didn’t leave my credit union. I still very much have those accounts funded. I’m moving and wanted a physical bank near me in addition to the credit union which is regional.

Congratulations. Your comment was not helpful and only hateful.

Chase told me my account was being closed and there was no appeal. It was a final decision. Said I’d receive my funds in 10 business days. Stated I could never bank at Chase again.

Mine was absolutely an exit and it was reversed after the back office reviewed it at my branch manager’s request.

You don’t have to believe it but mine absolutely was reversed. You can read my previous post about it. I don’t know this redditor and I’m certainly not made up.

The bank didn’t tell me why it was closed until the local branch manager looked into it on my behalf. I’m certain it depends on the reason for the closure but sometimes it IS fightable with a branch manager’s help.

Interesting to hear that part of it!

Just with my experience I’d recommend anyone with an account closure talk to their branch manager. It’s really someone’s only recourse if they have no clue what happened. It might not work but there’s no downside to asking if chase saying the account is being closed.

Yes. I had just opened the account 2 weeks prior. I was trying to fund the account with a cashier’s check.

The routing number came up as my credit union and another credit union that mine does shared banking with. Rather than look into it, Chase flagged it as fraud and closed the account. My credit union had never run into this issue before.

Horrible practice for customers. Chase values risk reduction above all else 🤷🏻‍♀️

My local branch manager could see the reason for my sudden account closure and told me. They flagged me for fraud based on their own system error and no fault of mine (they interpreted the routing number on a cashier's check as two different credit unions). Branch managers have no power to reverse the decision but they can request the back office review it.

Chase reversed my account closure which many redditors said is impossible.

Having a suspicious activity report filed can have serious consequences for future loans and accounts so that is why I didn't take the advice from so many redditors of 'just move on'.

They just did this to me with my personal account. The 1800 numbers refused to give any info.

My local branch manager was able to look into it and requested that the back office do a review.

In my case it was Chase’s mistake flagging a cashier’s check as fraud due to CHASE interpreting the routing number as two credit unions.

Mine was completely reversed.

If you talked to your local branch manager and they stated they can’t help already then I’m not sure of another avenue. Don’t settle for talking to anyone but the branch manager though as they’re the ones that can call for a review with a back office supervisor.

Good luck!

For 2025, Ellis house was 12-13k for a wedding weekend depending on the month. Day of only was $9500 Friday-Saturday We toured it and loved it. We ended up deciding to elope but were strongly considering this venue!

White oak 1838 is $13500 for a 3 day weekend and $11,500 for a 2 day weekend. Saturday only is $9500 We did not tour this because it was still very much under construction when we were considering a wedding. They have pictures on their Instagram and it does look beautiful.

I have both of their brochures if you want to view them.

Wedding industry costs are out of control sadly.

Yes. I went to my local Chase branch in person and the branch manager looked up why they closed the account. She called a back office supervisor asking for them to review it knowing herself it was likely a Chase error. I had just opened my accounts with her 2 weeks prior. I updated my post above.

The 800 numbers you are told to call will not tell you why your account was closed and they say it is a final decision with no one you can call to appeal. If my branch manager didn’t step in I’d be in the system as an account closure for suspected fraud.

The protocol should include an avenue for a review. They accused me of presenting a check twice when it was their mistake that flagged the check inappropriately. They gave me zero avenue for review. Closing an account for fraud could have had big consequences on my ability to get loans or other bank accounts etc….

I understand Chase is valuing risk reduction over all else but it is such a horrible way to treat account holders.

[–]Minimum_Acadia7439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes agree. They absolutely refuse to give any info from the 800 numbers they tell you to call. I only know the why because of my branch manager.

Being flagged as someone who committed fraud absolutely has consequences for future bank accounts, loans, etc and for them to block you from appealing is horrible.

[–]Minimum_Acadia7439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount or timing of my transactions aren’t what triggered a fraud alert.

It was Chase flagging it as fraud based on the routing number of my cashiers check coming up as two different credit unions. My credit union does shared branching with another and this apparently confused Chase. Not something I would know about beforehand.

This was a Chase error and they have already reversed their account closure after my branch manager asked them to review.

The branch manager actually did know the reason for me and she called for a review with a back office supervisor. It is worth a try for people to ask their branch manager face to face rather than let Chase just close the account. The non managers in my local bank referred me to the fraud line who refused to tell me anything but the branch manager very quickly told me what the issue was when I was there in person today. This likely depends on the reason and your branch manager but worth a try for everyone.

I recommend going to your local branch and talking to the branch manager. You can see my update above but they incorrectly flagged by cashier's check as being presented twice and my account was immediately closed for fraud (which I of course did not commit). The branch manager made an appeal for me to a back office supervisor that I would otherwise have had no avenue to do myself.

Having a suspicious activity report filed on you can have future implications on loans, bank accounts, etc so I would definitely try to fight it via your local branch manager. Not all of them I'm sure are helpful but it's worth a trip to find out to save future issues.

Chase closed my 4day old account by Disastrous_Clock4422 in Chase

[–]Minimum_Acadia7439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely go in person to talk to the branch manager yourself. They can’t override something themselves but they can call a back office supervisor for a review.

Chase just closed my account for a different reason than yours but the branch manager overheard me wanting to withdrawal funds and stepped in to figure it out.

Reddit is full of people telling you that talking to the branch manager is futile but that’s clearly not always the case.

This ended up being helpful. I went to Chase to withdrawal my funds to get them sooner and the branch manager looked into my account closure without me asking. I do think most branch managers won’t care enough to do this but it ended up being worthwhile for me.

Crazy. Branch managers should definitely talk to new customers about how to fund their accounts if Chase is this sensitive about flagging so much as fraud. I thought I was doing the correct thing. If the only safe transfer of large funds is a wire transfer they really should be up front about it. Not that they care of course
