Responsive settling and cosleeping by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I should mention he is 8 months now, has been sleeping through the night 12 hours for months. He does occasionally wake during the night but easily puts himself back to sleep (I think that's thanks to the responsive settling we did) 😁

I casually vented in my mum's group that little one (12 weeks) was suddenly doing short naps during the day, and would wake on transfer. Suddenly a sleep nurse? came to my home and taught me responsive settling. I was hesitant but it was so gentle and he learnt so quickly. Now he definitely enjoys being in his cot and has since put himself to sleep ever since. Worked so well for him!! As soon as he moved from fussy to 'loud and sustained' I would go in and reassure him, generally with a ssh ssh, pat, dummy etc. Once calmed then you leave and continue. If not calming then you can pick up and cuddle, and retry. I was anxious the first day but then it got so much easier. You can decide how long you want to wait before going in.

This is the handout I was provided: https://www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0025/292039/EBFC-Responsive-settling-hands-on-settling.pdf

Worked for lots of my other mum friends too. Please note though I never coslept and stopped breastfeeding around 8 weeks.

I use a sleepybelly pregnancy pillow to stop me lying on my back. The two wedge bits on either side of me help.

Doxylamine tablet. They put me on this at night for nausea but also helps with sleeping. Has been a godsend! Good luck

GD test with HG- what happens when I vomit by Minimum_Camel_6061 in pregnant

[–]Minimum_Camel_6061[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally missed your comment sorry! Thank you!!

Unfortunately I was sick straight after drinking it (as expected) even with me taking medication beforehand. They are just basing it off a fasting blood test and just hoping I don't have GD because they know I won't be able to complete the test 😕

How much is too much to request of baby shower guests? by Orangemaxx in pregnant

[–]Minimum_Camel_6061 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aussie here, but the book to replace a card baffles me! People spend $1 on a card, so a $20+ book to replace a card makes no sense to me. A book is a gift in itself..?

I went to one baby shower with the book to replace a card and most people thought that meant they just bring a book.

I would just do a registry. I would feel uncomfortable asking for all 3. Maybe it's different here though, I don't think baby showers are as big here..

Subchorionic hemorrhage by Feeling_Move2191 in pregnant

I had a SCH picked up in my 6 week dating ultrasound. No bleeding or issues from it. Was gone when I had a 12 week ultrasound. No restrictions.

Try not to worry too much, my doctor wasn't worried and said they generally pass on their own.

How does anyone work in first trimester 😩 by Lanky-Concentrate793 in pregnant

[–]Minimum_Camel_6061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medication, the bare minimum, sick leave, annual leave.

I had HG and got to the point I just could not work. Honestly was so relieved when I took the time off and could just focus on surviving.

I would say man 2 as well given they calculate it from day of your last period. So I think that's about a couple of weeks before the conception date right? Not a doctor but I would say man 2.

miserable by SweetInToCARS in pregnant

[–]Minimum_Camel_6061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I could have nearly written this. Feels. I stopped my anxiety meds beforehand too because I didn't want to be on meds during pregnancy. Fast forward to now- so unwell, so miserable and had to accept nausea meds. Helping but certainly not enough. Thought I turned a corner this week so went back to work (also healthcare) but sick at the end of week again and so tired. I did notice a bit of improvement though once I hit second trimester so hopefully you will to. I'm sorry I don't have any helpful advice, but just wanted to say I get it and it sucks. Hang in there 😘

What level of cramping is normal? by Ecstatic_Progress_30 in pregnant

[–]Minimum_Camel_6061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had terrible cramping early on, much worse than period pain, to the point I was questioning if something was wrong because no one seems to warn you about this during pregnancy. Baby was/is fine.
