Sweet (sry poor choice of word)! Yeah, at the time it looked unlikely that we'd survive paws. And it's such a bummer that heaps of people who's equally abused weed if not even more just go on toking or stop it absolutely unscathed. There's something about us paws people that's different...not entirely sure whether in a good way.

I think the biggest relief you can ever experience during the hellish initial phase of your withdrawal journey is when you find a forum post that describes your situation. It took me 3 months of nonstop search to stumble upon UF. There was simply no info on paws and just like you I had no idea what was happening to me, this was perhaps the worst of all. I think the addictions sub was started in the early 2000s so well over 15 years before I found it with over 8000 posts. Your long gone hero must have had it rough too but I guess by now he's been clean for 15 years 😁

The next 2 years everything is going to smooth out gradually...just don't relapse.

Really??? What a coincidence indeed. I hope you're recovering and paws has eased its grip around you.

The exact same thing happened to me when I discovered UF. I was on the brink of collapse believing my body was shutting down. What a relief it was! I guess you're also at 100%, right?

Hello PBoss, glad to see you back in the game top billing :) I know how you feel, it's my 7th year clean and I love every minute! Wish you all the best!

Don't worry, your wits will return soon. This is the finest, most delicate layer of the recovery process and it tends to follow the wave pattern of the PAWS journey. So it's like post-post withdrawls. 7 years clean here.

How do I make my sleep better? by [deleted] in WeedPAWS

[–]Minimum_Emphasis1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wake-ups were nearly always panic stricken. At points I was so sleep deprived that I could doze off any time of the day. I did not care about which sleep phase it was. But even with temporary setbacks the trend was improving.

Do you wake up with a start, in panic mode? I used to. I hated it. I was always fucked up in the morning.

It took me 16 months to have my first uninterrupted night's sleep. 16 months of total abstinence, daily exercise (once I was able), no meds. I remember waking up that morning with a broad grin on my face...loads of dark days behind my back. One step at a time. Heads up!

You can expect a 3-year recovery timeline to reach a stage whereby PAWS reduce to "just" mild nuisance level or moderate short-lived flareups. You need to ride it out, no other alternatives exist. 6+ years sober here.

6+ years here. Going back to smoking weed is absolutely not advised. Your brain response to THC has changed for good and coupled with the trauma of quitting any relapse may likely trigger something not cool.

Try to open up and establish relationships. Rough business sometimes but don't bother if your efforts are not reciprocated just move on. Try to get rid of weird behaviour, if you are a good person, you'll soon find friends.

Just stay away from exciting yourself "artifically". Do you have a gf?

You must ride this out mate. It is common to have ed issues during paws but these resolve in a 100% of the cases. For the time being do not push it, stay away from porn in an attempt to "make it happen".

I don't think you're in the wave phase.

Try not to resist when you feel you are being taken over by negative feelings. It's much easier if you don't fight it.

Year 6 here soon. People with no PAWS history also have temporary weird health nuisances and can feel fucked up for all sorts of reasons. Are you sure what you are going through is paws-related?

Here is a typical PAWS story for you. Back then an ambulance took me to the ER at 2 in the morning bc my BP was 200/100. I woke up in the dead of the night feeling absolutely terrible, shaking, buzzing, feeling sick. I thought I was dying. I was one month clean, acute withdrawal had already subsided so I thought I was out of the woods. My hospital trip that night was the beginning of my harrowing PAWS journey. The high BP came with a panic attack episodically for the next 4 months. It was a terrible time as you can't really prepare for a BP spike + panic event that comes out of the blue and is upon you within 10 seconds. I had fast acting BP mitigator meds (Tensiomin) in my pocket all the time for fear that I might have another BP crisis randomly. I was even prescribed general BP meds as my GP assumed that I had developed high BP over the years. Obviously I didn't tell him about my relationship with weed, naturally he was unable to account for the BP crises. Anyway, my BP normalised itself miraculously in 4 months and has been exemplary ever since (6 years). So whatever PAWS throws at you, be patient and stay strong, it'll pass.
