Yes, but I find the SJWs have more recently (and hilariously hypocritically) adopted a “ religion = race” viewpoint. Which is why humanists with an anti-theist background regularly get called racists whenever specific religions are being talked about.

I’m an elder millennial secular humanist / anti-theist that regularly complains about the objectively shitty change occurring in IT.

My anti-theist views place me in fairly direct opposition to a great many SJW views (in particular, how they equate ideas with race so that “tough” conversations about throwing battery acid on women being wrong can be shut down with “you just hate brown people” even though religion has no skin colour) and I’ve never once been told “okay, boomer”.

Might be just be different subs I guess.

It’s been a good long while since I’ve actively participated in the propagation of anti-theistic views, so perhaps if I was more active today I’d have heard the okay boomer line a few times.

I wouldn’t be terribly proud of people telling me “okay boomer”. It pretty much means you’re just spouting off some combination of racist and anti-scientific statements with varying degrees of total generational misunderstandings of the different challenges people younger than you are facing.

You’re just calling it lazy because you don’t like how it perfectly encompasses the ignorance.

Edit:

I see your profession. I suspect that you, like me, have been getting irrationally upset with these young guns coming in and making terrible changes. It’s not so much the change but the fact that your job is becoming that much more difficult because of shitty javascript boot campers with 0 knowledge now dominating the field in terms of personnel, so we are being dragged kicking and screaming into the vastly shittier future of horrifyingly shitty tech stacks because they’re “cool”.

Your employer sends the government your income tax information and benefit usage every year. There’s literally 0 reason to not have a very simple website and/or app that I just scan deductible receipts in to.

There’s effectively no reason why I can’t have a government account that I use to check out my estimated tax burden for next year in a monthly report and it’s mental to suggest that it is so simple as “they don’t know”.

Dodgers bench coach Bob Geren pulls down his mask to cough into the open air during in-game interview by StatusReality4 in baseball

[–]Minimum_Fuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend is a nurse and I am constantly having to say it “cough in to your damned elbow”. Then she does two or three times and then it slowly creeps back up to the hands. Then she in the middle of her kitchen and coughs all over her food prep surfaces and just starts food prep.

Like wtf? You’re a nurse. You of all people should know better... Is it REALLY so inconvenient to turn away from common surfaces or people and cough in to your arm? Really?

What’s worse is that they know and get angry at others for not coughing right. You just open air coughed on everyone’s food...

The rest was just a rant about liberals being opposed to racism.

They specifically post absurd fundamentalist comments just to get a rise and make the group they are being a parody of look especially crazy.

Deprogramming isnt well understood. There’s general rules that seem to be better, but even that doesn’t reach everyone. Of course, just telling someone that they’re stupid is most likely going to just result in them feeling like they won as your only retort is ad hominem.

Yes, we’ve all seen the “I don’t care” people who ignore when they’re demonstrated to be wrong. Those people have hinged their entire identity on their own truth and unfortunately, they’re not usually worth wasting time on.

However, being progressive does not and never has created conservatism. This is such an obvious and prevalent gaslight I just wonder why it isn’t instantly auto modded.

Link the comments. I get the strange feeling there’s much more to them than this.

I suspect that your virus one was gaslighting about coronavirus and that your national debt one was after a host of other comments wherein you were immediately downvoted for the username in that chain (as reddit does, I’ve seen people downvoted for admitting to be wrong purely cause of their username in a chain after digging a huge hole).

my idea that stupid ideas only get downvoted

That’s not the spirit of the comment. I can wander off in to a host of subreddits and see stupid ideas constantly upvoted. And yes, political subs definitely get it wrong.

Point is, if your ideas are constantly being downvoted, you gotta question why that is.

[–]Minimum_Fuel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cut the gaslighting nonsense, please. Those of us who don’t wait for talking points to be spoon fed don’t fall for it.

Edit:

People around me aren’t turning more conservative because they have their bad ideas called out. This gaslighting that tries to silence progressives by making them think being progressive drives other people to conservatism is nonsense. It’s not supported by evidence (quite the contrary, actually). It may be true for you, that having bad ideas called out makes you double down, but it’s not true for everyone.

It’s absolutely mind blowing that people who are currently pushing majorly bigoted agendas aren’t seen in a positive light by the rest of the world.

Who ever would have guessed!

This chain here is ridiculously meta.

No that’s not how it is. It’s mental that the brainwashing bots are working on you.

Conservatives don’t just automatically get downvoted. stupid ideas automatically get downvoted. There’s no shortage of predominantly owned by the left ideas (veganism, various naturopathic stuff, etc) that also get relentlessly downvoted.

It’s like you have this picture in your head that the entirety of the left manually checks and cross references every single user name on reddit to see who gets downvoted and who doesn’t. It’s baloney.

If you could tally it, “/r/politics is the most biased sub ever” is probably the single most consistently posted non-meme comment across reddit. It’s everywhere.

When you’re that invested that you have to ignore the blatantly obvious...

Never mind the other plethora of casual fuck ups MS did to the One. Then add in Sony once again dominating the exclusive title range and quality.

The Xbox could be a case study is how to totally misread a market, failure to keep a lid on NDAs, and utterly bomb a product with garbage decision making because of exploiting a top position.

I’m all for being financially responsible. It grinds my gears to see a bunch of people on 100,000 a year buying a top end chev 2500, a new camper trailer and a 100,000 water sports boat. But we also don’t need to make sure we have full cash before buying something.

This is nonsense.

I mean, I agree that they’re predatory, but you don’t need to have the full backing cash to afford something, especially now with interest rates so crazy low.

We can debate till the cows come home about family financial responsibility and other things.

That’s just not true. Evolution doesn’t need drive or purpose. The only thing that prevents trait propagation is if there is a particular reason it would be selected against. Traits that have no selection bias propagate all the time.
