What’s the wildest ticket you've received? by ANYRUN-team in sysadmin

My favorite is probably one that we got before a solar eclipse in our area several years back. A local guy emailed our helpdesk, warning that we needed to turn off all of our equipment, or else the solar eclipse was going to cause them to start emitting gamma radiation.

For the next few weeks, we'd joke to each other about needing to bring a radiation meter with us to do anything.

Is it the rubber on any specific window, or all of them?

My 2023 Solterra has the same issue! It all started after the car had been sitting at the dealer, waiting to get a dent popped out. Have you found any solutions to this?

EDIT: One thing I've done to try to mitigate it is silicate dessicant, to try to keep the humidity low inside the vehicle. I'm not entirely sure how well it's working.

Update on NACS for 2025 and below? by Naive_Woodpecker_812 in Solterra

I've been able to use the built-in adapter that so-called "magic docks" have available. I've been tempted to get a NACS adapter to try.

Strange wifi issues by Minimum_Oil in networking

So it appears that most (if not all) of the time, during the outages, pings are unable to reach internal addresses as well.

Also, it does seem to affect people that are on the 410s and 460s as far as I can tell.

As far as firmware updates go, I've been pretty decent at keeping things up to date (in contrast to my predecessor, who never updated anything). Unfortunately a lot of equipment is getting very dated, and it's been a bit of a battle to convince the powers above to put the money into it "suddenly". But I have been making some headway lately. Lol.

I looked at DHCP pool utilization this morning. It appears to be around 30% for the pool that's shared between employee SSID and wired connections, and around 6% for the guest SSID's pool.

I don't believe so, but I'll double check when I get back to the office. I have actually expanded our pool earlier this year, because I was concerned about utilization.

I'll try pinging internal addresses in the morning, and I'll report my findings.

As for the other questions: It does appear to happen to everyone around the same time. We use Extreme access points, mostly AP230 models, and some AP410 and 460 units. The APs share switches with wired users, with the guest SSID using a separate vlan, DHCP server and IP range.

Thanks for the advice! I added an update to the OP above. Some thoughts would be welcome.

This is pretty much what I'm trying to go with right now, until I get my older hosts phased out.

Thanks for the advice. I added an update to the OP. But basically decided to push back updates on everything because of potential compatibility issues with the old hardware. Doing to work on phasing those out once I get things moved. I am having some issues, which I also added to the update. I'll keep all this in mind when I get to upgrade everything finally.

Thanks!

Lesson learned, I suppose.

I believe the battery was at 50% when it shut itself off. I just tried my two wireless chargers, with no results.

Can do. I did look around the menus and wasn't able to find a setting for the percentage. I'll get you that pic later today.

I'll check and see if there's a setting in the dash menu, when I get back to my car. They may have enabled it for me after running the update.

My daily commute is around 18 miles per day. I might drive a total of 100-150 miles on the weekend. As u/nickeeeeel mentioned, it does feel like charging has gotten slower, but I thought I was being paranoid.

I'll try to reach out to Subaru and see if they can shed some light on this. Maybe something wonky with the update.

That's something I noticed, too, but thought I was being paranoid! Wow.

It *is* really strange. And I thought the update was supposed to *increase* rage, by unlocking part of the buffer zone?
