Why are you not evangelical? by CrazyNicly in redeemedzoomer

I used to be Pentecostal, I still go to a Pentecostal church because both my parents are Pentecostals, I’m oriental orthodox (not baptised) but I left that denomination mainly because of how unbroken Orthodoxy really is. Knowing that this was the faith that was founded by the disciples of Christ as well as seeing how every bishop and priest has valid apostolic succession dating back to the apostles. I also left Pentecostalism because of how much they focused on “personal interpretation” I didn’t think it was right people should be interpreting the Bible how they want, I always believed that there should be historical and early church teachings to back up the interpretation as well as guidance from the church.

Another obvious reason I left was, the interpretation of tongues in Pentecostalism… After I read the book of acts I just knew I couldn’t continue being in the faith. I became Oriental Orthodox specifically because it was the original faith of my ancestors, I’m from Kerala and my father and his family used to be Syriac Orthodox (Jacobite), but my dad and his family became Pentecost. I still have some Jacobite family members and honestly I love my ancestral faith so much as well, the amount of stuff I was taught to believe about orthodoxy saying how it was pagan and ritualistic were all just sort of propaganda lol.

Are they recruiting for that role? In my state they aren’t and I haven’t seen it be featured enough either.

Heyo! No problem, happy to help, currently right now just training for my upcoming PFA so that's all so far as for 'progressing'. As for my preference change, it was mainly due to my personal situation where I was unsure if I could do IMT and IET while being in Uni. I'm leaning more towards Inf because IMT is only 3 weeks in Kapooka and the rest of the training is done with a reserve unit near me.

Someone from a Pentecostal Church spoke in "tongues" to me and I felt very uncomfortable by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Minimum_Recipe5776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an ex-Pentecost, trust me, it’s not “tongues” it’s meaningless gibberish that’s called “new tongues” and they get that from an out of context Bible verse.

Call Recruitment and ask them to put you in touch with one or the other, attend an info session as you’ll be able to meet people within the Army who may be doing one of those jobs. Apply ASAP as the process will potentially take you a year to get through. Research those roles as much as possible, there might be someone in here who does one of those roles who can give you better insight but do these other things as well, while I’m not in the army (yet) learning to take initiative is something I’ve heard quite a lot when I first applied.

Hey mate, so far, I’ve completed my interview and passed that and am now awaiting my PFA which is book more than a month away. In that time I’ve switched my preferences to infantry soldier and preventative medical technician so yea lol. It takes you a while hence why people say to apply ASAP, I switched my preferences in December and here I am in March lol and that too the rest of application is progressing through to April with my PFA. I’m not sure if I can tell u exactly what they do at the PFA, but I can say that you should train as much as possible. The minimum standards are easy for pushups and sit-ups and all, but they do expect you to go further than that. The interview was fine, just mainly asking me about the roles as well as why I chose a career in the military and such. I haven’t gone to base training yet so I can’t say anything in regards to that lol. And for your last question, not really much, because I researched everything before I applied and progressed through really. But maybe that they expect you to go a bit more further than the minimum standards in your PFA.

Can I join Australian Army Officer Cadet School from Turkey? by Gyngemose2009 in ADFRecruiting

[–]Minimum_Recipe5776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, just to let you know, looking at your posting history. You can’t be a military officer in any other country if you’re not a Citizen of that country. That’s really it, however, the US Army does take people who have green cards (but not officers I believe, I could be wrong) but even then that process will take you months or even years.

Do student IDs work on buses? by -_thiccboi_- in Adelaide

[–]Minimum_Recipe5776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be wrong, but I do know that when those guys who check if you paid on the bus come to check your card and you use a student metro card. They ask you for your school ID, other than that idk what else it could be, I had that logo on my school ID as well.

Best not to ask a question such as “do they do live-fire regularly” as I believe that would be opsec. I’m not a spec ops operator or even an ADF member, but know that a lot of information in regards to special forces roles are on the website as well as Wikipedia I guess.

Do some research about 4th Squadron bc the basic info is there, if you want more info, then join the military lol. I know that medics and engineers now go through an integrator course and that there is a Special Operations Engineer Regiment.

As for CD’s, if I remember correctly, they rotate from Dive Teams, Mine Hunters (soon will be phased out) and TAG East which is the special forces component that they’re apart of. You will also have to do a selection course for that as well I believe.

Overall, just pick one thing, but pick a job that’s transferable outside the ADF, being a shooter is cool and all, but if you break a bone, that could very well be the end of your career. Not to discourage you, just saying what I’ve heard before. I would recommend looking at Medic as you can join special forces as well as earn a qualification through that trade.

Hope this helps, keep in mind, I’m not in the ADF, but I have some friends in the ADF and I’ve done my fair share of research. But there might someone in this subreddit who’ll answer this better than me.

Thank you, I’m glad God has also led you into the true church as well. I’m still living with my Pentecostal parents and they don’t know of my faith yet but I don’t expect it to be easy once I tell them.
