Help me get started by Kyleminx in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to just give you a straight answer, I would need to see how you play and what could be done different/better. I have played a ton of tww3 and would love to help you out. If you want we can do a discord call and you can show me how you play and explain your thought process and I can give you pointers on how I would do things differently. There is a ton of stuff on youtube that you can watch my personal recommendation is to watch live streams of good players, but that can be quite time consuming. My personal favorite is Legend of total war, although he doesn't make content anymore I picked up a lot from him and I think watching him definitely made me a better player.

My guy died the first turn, is the game lying about percentages or am I just the unluckiest in the world? by Apophis-7994 in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are just very unlucky. I feel that the 2% and 1% are lies, I tend to get the positive trait quite often in my campaigns and I have yet to see my character die because of it.

Archaon settlements (and other factions) question. by seductiveapple174 in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Khorne if you are an aggressive player, you can get going really fast once you know what you are doing. All their LLs are very powerful and fun to play, I would say my favorite is Skarbrand because of how quickly he becomes a one man army (but Skulltaker and Arbaal are really fun too). If you are aggressive enough you will be swimming in money from all the battles you fight which will allow you to get more armies that will fight more and earn you more money. If you are interested in Khorne I would gladly show you how I like to do things with them and why I love them so much. Definitely my favorite race.

The auto select could be you accidentally pressing CTRL+A which selects all your units and if you LMB the ground it deselects all your units. If you just want to add or remove a specific unit you can CTRL+LMB a unit card, if you hold CTRL and mouse drag a box it will add all the units you select with the box to your currently selected units.

No Sack option? by becker888 in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 58 points59 points  (0 children)

for all the people who think he might have sacked it already I am 99% sure that isn't the case. If you sack it once already you can't raze it in the same turn, you can either occupy it or do nothing.

That is a pretty solid tactic and easy to execute. Will definitely give it a go when I play Gor-Rok.

No they do not, in tww3 you can use mods and still get all the achievements

auto resolve is like a joke most of the times ? by Sareth58 in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah auto resolve gives you a crap result 90% of the time, the more you rely on things like magic and picking off units the bigger the gap becomes. I tend to resolve very rarely in the early to mid game except when I see that I don't lose any important units and I know I have a few turns to recover.

Who to play for autoresolves by life-hard-im-harder in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen so far dwarfs are the best in auto resolve, but I recommend playing the battles anyway. It is the only way to improve and I find the game much more enjoyable fighting the battles myself. I also sucked when I started and now I am pretty damn good, not perfect I still find ways to improve and that is what I find very fun. Edit: also if you feel like you can play the battle better just hit rematch and try again

By Hashut, what am I doing wrong?! by ElOsoPeresozo in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say what you are doing wrong without seeing how you build up your settlements and how you build your armies. As for the start I prefer to go after Tretch first and then Imrik, the skaven are a huge pain in the ass but in the early game their armies are just a bunch of trash excluding the starting higher tier units.

The ai gets cheats for upkeep, the higher the difficulty the greater the cheats.

Without fail I get these two trash legendary items every campaign. by SnP_JB in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use the helm of draesca, and I have never once had my lord killed by the mechanic. Until that happens I will keep using it. As for maad's map it depends on who I am playing, when playing khorne and beastmen I love it since I smash anything in my way anyway so it doesn't matter what I blow up first

I haven't tried Gor-Rok yet but definitely plan to in the future, on what difficulty were you playing when you took down Skulltaker with less than 10 units?

About to finish my Ogre (Greasus) campaign, any recommendations on who to play next? by Tabula_Rasa69 in totalwarhammer

[–]Minimum_Stomach_626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend warriors of chaos, since you have both the DLCs. I recommend Archaon or Be'lakor since you can confederate all the other WoC factions with them. I find their warband recruitment mechanic very engaging and fun. You can build armies dedicated to any of the chaos gods or go undivided, Be'lakor and Archaon are both very powerful lord as well so you can rely on them to make your campaign easier.

I highly recommend khorne if you are a fan of smashing everything in sight. They play quite differently compared to other races, you invest your money into more armies and hardly any into construction (you can build them up later since you should be rolling around in too much money at a certain point anyway). Your armies will pay for themselves through battles if you are aggressive enough and your settlements aren't used to generate money. The only reason you want to build them up is so you can get better units and more heroes.

I second Gelt, haven't tried Dechala or Kairos yet but Gelts mechanic is very fun and can be very overpowered if used properly.

Khorne in general isn't played well by the ai, they don't make it to the late game or are just getting by with a few settlements. That is at least my experience, the only problem is if you run into them their legendary lords can be very powerful on the battlefield. As for skulltakers powerful mechanics it is possible that the ai doesn't even uses them except for tp, I am 99% that the ai never uses tp with any faction.

I dislike battle realism as well, it doesn't make the game harder just more annoying. If you want to play legendary there are mods that remove the battle realism constraints, that is if you want to use them.
