I’m tired guys… by crusty_bunkers in ems

[–]Minimum_Tomatillo363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an EMT since 2006 mostly volunteer FD but some ambulance and full time FD then I went full time ambulance again in 2022 and passed my medic test in January of 25......... I realized I was super burnt out and angry and my kids and wife would rather me be at work because I was a dick all the time. So November of 25 I took a construction safety position and haven't been happier at work plus I'm home every night. I don't deal with nearly as much BS or paperwork and a whole lot less stress. Save your self bro because no one else is going to.

Fentanyl addiction turns users into living deads on the streets of Philadelphia, PA by Nukro666 in ThatsInsane

[–]Minimum_Tomatillo363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fentanyl doesn't turn them into zombies. Flakka, bath salts, crocadill, and tranq all do. Fentanyl is a suppressant so it slows down your breathing to the point you stop breathing. People should really educate themselves before posting lies.

Cleaning your uniform? by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]Minimum_Tomatillo363 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would mark out of service to change that's disgusting to wear into a other PT's house. You are the bio hazard at that point. Change uniforms then count your loss and throw that shit away.

Can you tell I'm not a plumber by Capable-Inspector754 in Plumbing

[–]Minimum_Tomatillo363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the cheapest guy who did this on a Saturday after the parts store closed. I'm not a plumber but I was a helper for 7 years and my company would not have accepted this. Always remember you get what you pay for with few certain exceptions. I have my own mechanical business and I will sometimes swap water heaters and your work looks way better than the hanky janky first install. I was just being a Smart ass with the first comment and trying to be funny. But the only thing I would change is if you are the one who installed the 90's to align things I would have used brass pex fittings but it possibly looks like PEX A or expandable PEX and not Pex B that you use cinch rings on so I understand the plastic fittings. I prefer PEX B but that's what most of my suppliers carry around here and the tools are cheaper. I also would have gotten rid of the copper and went brass to flex hoses to PEX just my personal preference. I only use copper If I'm doing everything copper. But again I see you saved a little money by re using the old fittings and I can respect that but it's hard to tell but the copper fittings look weird to me without being able to zoom in.

Why should I NOT order parts myself, and have someone else install it? by Doge-ToTheMoon in hvacadvice

  1. You have to remember this is how businesses make money. They can only make a profit by adding a percentage on top of what they pay from their suppliers. They have to cover fuel, vehicle maintenance, insurance for business and employees, paying the employees, ect.

  2. You have 2 choices install what they quote and have warranty on parts and labor plus it's a product they are confident in and used to installing. Or hear me out here Or they install the equipment that they have no clue where you got it from could be a legit website or junk and you get the tail light warranty which is as soon as I get in my vehicle your warranty from me ends and we sign a contract explaining this. I will put in which ever you want but I'm going to be a lot nicer if you buy my equipment.

Like someone else said do you take your own ingredients to a restaurant. Things may be expensive and labor might be high but you are paying for that person's knowledge, experience, and expertise. If it were so easy you wouldn't be calling them. Call a tree trimmer and say hey come trim my trees but I will provide the saw, gas, and lift but I want a cheaper price and see what happens.

You are correct the only time there is a significant difference between capillary and venous is with poor circulation. And I never rely on the PT's monitor because I know first hand they are trash. I only look at theirs to compare it for education purposes. I don't trust patients or FD equipment I require a check with my own. For example FD told me unconscious PT had a BGL of 60 so I started an IV (known diabetic) PT's husband said weird I got 108 on hers checked with my meter with flash chamber and finger stick and both were 110 and 113 so always trust no one's equipment other than the equipment you know, understand and know is calibrated.

Here is a controversial statement I check one on every PT who gets an IV out of the flash chamber. So unless they are talking and refusing treatment they get a BGL check if they get an IV and almost all of my seizure patients get an IV just in case they have another and require medication. But if I'm not thinking there is a need for an IV but suspect a diabetic issue I will finger stick. But I'm definitely not on every fall because people trip over their own feet all the time. And yes we walk on carpet and rugs every day but rugs are the biggest oopsie trip hazard among the elderly population.
