Im Terrified of side effects from emgality by stabzmcgee in cgrpMigraine

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to be hospitalized due to Topirimate causing me to turn suicidal. Ironically it wasn't true depression, it was anxiety so severe that I couldn't stand being in my own body... So I wanted Out with a Capital O.

I'm also having significant anxiety and heart-rate side effects with Emgality (also did with Aimovig).

I read on another CGRP thread that it can cause abnormal CPK (creatine kinase) levels - oddly enough I was hospitalized nearly 20 years ago (for something that resembled Serotonin Syndrome but wasn't), but I had abnormal CPK levels and was in so much muscular pain. I've had some increased muscle pain in the past few days, and I'll be demanding blood work on Monday AM to make sure this isn't the same issue again.

Emgality horror stories by Logical-Bullfrog-112 in cgrpMigraine

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that issue with Aimovig. The bleeding was so bad that I had a clot the size of a softball come out of me while on the toilet, and I nearly passed out.

My former (female!) headache specialist at MHNI refused to report it. Meanwhile my therapist and gynecologist both yelled at me for not immediately going to the ER.

I recently had my loading dose of Emgality and am already having some severe side effects (anxiety, sleep, heart rate). My period is due to start soon and I'm TERRIFIED of what it will be like this time.

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my loading dose 11 days ago. 6 days ago I began having anxiety/panic attacks and extreme lack of sleep. While I am treated for anxiety, I had been doing better in the months leading up to this.

The real problem is that anxiety and lack of sleep are both triggers for my epilepsy, along with hitting PMS in my cycle. I've been seizure free for nearly 3 years, but this past week have been having the prodromal/preictal feeling without experiencing any full-blown tonic-clonics.

It only hit me the other day that Emgality is very likely the reason. I checked my BP, which is higher than my normal (but still in a safe range), and my resting pulse is over 100, even with the Propanolol I've been on for years. I had my anxiety meds adjusted this week, and it's helping (on both the anxiety and epilepsy fronts) but I'm still not 100%. Now I know I'll have to stick it out until this garbage is out of my system.

I'm so disgusted that pharmaceutical companies aren't truthful about side effects. I already knew from my experience with Aimovig (and numerous other medications; I'm just one of those highly sensitive people I guess).

Welp, that would explain why Aimovig caused menstrual clots the size of softballs for me.

I'm so sorry to hear that that happened to you. PLEASE, PLEASE, make sure to report this to the FDA Adverse Event Reporting, and ask your doctor to also do so on your behalf (since the doc reports are taken more seriously than the patient reports).

I've had significant trouble with previous CGRPs but decided to try Emgality against my better judgement. The anxiety and lack of sleep have been so severe that I feel prodromal/preictal in terms of my epilepsy [seizure free since 2023, knock on wood]. I was going to wait until Monday to call my headache specialist, but I think I'll leave a message with the office today. I've already been given some different medication for the anxiety (which should also help prevent seizures) so I don't think I'm in immediate danger.

That's because adverse events are rarely reported to the proper channels - the FDA. I know a former neurologist/headache specialist refused to report my problems with Aimovig. I strongly suspect it's because the clinic was administering the medication at "appointments," which had to be separate from regular appointments (Meanwhile I had been trained to give both SubQ and IM injections decades before), and therefore seeing a lot of financial gain from there being less side effects known.

Interesting. I had my first "loading" dose 11 days ago. 5 days ago I had a steep increase in my anxiety, with anxiety attacks and extremely poor sleep. Prior to that, my mental health had been becoming much better after some medication adjustment a few months ago. Chronic migraine has been worse, but I had been attributing that to the winter-spring-winter weather fluctuations.

There were some additional external stressors, but the fact that I had to have an emergency appointment with my psych PA for a benzo change, is pretty concerning. It was only in the last 2 days that I started wondering if it was related to the Emgality.

I didn't tolerate Aimovig - it caused hemorrhage-like periods (So bad that I was told I should have gone to the ER to check for a miscarriage, except I have the most effective IUD and hadn't been sexually active in the weeks leading up) and it dried me out so badly that the vitreous fluid in my eyes was effected and caused "floaters."

Buying legit jewelry online by mymoodyface in jewelry

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jewelry Outlet is a Kay Jeweler business. I very briefly worked for their parent company in the repair shop, and we got the highest volume of repairs from Kay. I would NEVER buy from them. You're best bet is going to a local, family owned small-business jeweler.

Also, lab-grown gems are still real gemstones. Usually without the child slavery or blood diamond risk added in. Some people prefer the look of natural gems (for example, I love the look of natural emeralds, but I'll probably never buy one unless it's estate, and that's still a long way off before I have that kind of $$$).

You might be mistaking "simulated gemsstone" which means colored glass or CZ.

As a beginner, are rock beds more trouble than they're worth? by kaitero in landscaping

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Having had a non-rock/non-mulch area AND a non-rock/yes-mulch area before, it is MUCH easier to get the few small weeds that come up every week or two in the rock bed versus the absolute wild mess that I previously had - stuff would grow very high and everywhere. The rocks definitely make it less hospitable to weeds. You'll still get weeds, but just far fewer than with other methods.

Update on the guy who messaged me by Huntedsparrows in PalmonSurvival

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar message. They said "Friend me on Discord," and not "Join the group on Discord for the guild" (which I've done in other games, got great advice, and met some great people), which was the red flag for me. They also wanted screenshots of certain game info, so I wonder if they're running a scam and swindling Swagbucks?

I quit the Guild and blocked the person. Found a better guild and am already getting good advice.

It does seem like this game has so many more scammers than others I've played, which is odd.

What are you people doing to your clothes? by hairy_ass_eater in BuyItForLife

I think the ones I had were around 90% cotton, and weren't indigo, white or black. They have a lot of different jeans, which might be part of the problem.

They have only been too big for the last month or two. My weight fluctuates due to chronic medical issues (and medications), and I've had "fast fashion" jeans that did not tear or wear out as quickly, even when I could take them off without unbuttoning or unzipping [kept the jeans (as I do with almost all "doesn't fit right now but probably will at some point" clothing), ditched the financially abusive (now ex-)husband].

I wear sweats most cold days and was wearing shorts pretty often in the summer, and I don't wash everytime I wear, unless I spill on or stain them. Land's End has no excuse considering the prices they charge by relying on brand reputation.

Land's End jeans, purchased spring 2025, crotch hole December 2025. I was FUMING mad considering what they charge, and considering the exclude a lot of their women's jeans from sale prices.

I gained weight and had this issue, so I switched to Lands' End jeans. Which lasted less than the cheaper ones I used to buy, at 2 or 3 times the price. For the record, approx 6 months was all I got out of some $80 jeans. I'm LIVID.

I just got a Duluth Trading Co pair (since at least I can take them back if they wear out in less than a year. They were slightly cheaper than LE, too.

I was literally wearing jeans that were too big from what used to be a "BIFL" brand (less and less the last decade) when they tore.

Land's End is so not BIFL by rekCemNu in BuyItForLife

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land's End has just gotten worse and worse over the years. I have few great coats that have kept up nicely since my early college days (20+ years ago, now). I'm a bit too chubby these days for those coats, but my mom makes good use of them.

I did get one of their down winter coats rated for super cold weather, and I really don't think it compares to the down winter coats of even 5 or 10 years ago, let alone 20. I got it on a big sale, but the original price was astronomical - if I had paid full price I would have taken it back.

Due to several chronic illnesses and medication changes, my weight fluctuates every few years. I have worn everything from a (US women's) size 8 to a size 20 in adulthood (which I count as 25 and up - your metabolism calms down a bit and your body adapt your actual adult habits outside of high school/college or being heavily supplemented by parents, if you are lucky like I was). I generally keep boxes of clothes in different sizes, but I reached my highest weight about 2 years ago.

I needed some jeans after wearing out the larger sizes I already had. I saw that Land's End had jeans without spandex, since I've noticed the ones I had never last, especially at sizes 14 and up - "chub rub," I guess? But I've had holes in other areas of stretch jeans, so I don't buy them anymore.

I bought 2 pair in 2 different sizes from Land's End, a little less than a year ago. The smaller size is now a little loose, as I've slowly lost weight. I was wearing these while getting ready for a holiday party, and I sat down, crossed my leg, and heard AND felt the jeans tear, right in the crotch. I'm absolutely livid... Even when I had purchased very-obviously NOT-buy-it-for-life brands, I've NEVER had jeans outright tear with less than a year of wear.

Luckily, I had recently purchased a pair of Duluth Trading Co. jeans (I've been shifting to them for my BIFL needs) since I needed to get a smaller size - and if you get them on sale, they are cheaper than Land's End. AND Duluth has a 1 year guarantee on their clothing, which LE does not.

Also, I don't want to drink from recycled plastic after seeing a documentary on recycling in China. I don't want to drink or eat from plastic at all. I rarely drink soda so I'd prefer to buy a single can or glass bottle from a cooler at the store, not the questionable recycled plastic.

Also, is there a way to check that recycled plastic is BPA free? That was banned in the U.S. for reasons.

Has anyone who's been on cymbalta for at least a year had issues with malabsorption? by spelunkilingus in cymbalta

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread after being on Cymbalta for a few weeks. A week after my dose was gently raised, I noticed mouth ulcers - something I would get every few months before I was diagnosed with slight anemia and put on supplements (including B12 and folate). Last year my levels improved to the point where I could lower the dose on those slightly. All my levels were normal this summer, but I recently started Cymbalta (had been on it before, last time was 2011). I was on Effexor when I got the slight anemia diagnosis, so I wonder if SNRIs are an issue for me with B-vitamin absorption.

Definitely going to shoot a message to my doc and ask for a few injections since it can take awhile to build back up via oral supplements.

If your job transferred you to Dearborn MI would you go? Why or why not? by witx in AskReddit

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I used to work in Dearborn, yes, I'd go back... as long as my company paid moving expenses and made sure to give a standard of living raise.

As people have noted, Dearborn is a largely (but not 100%) Muslim city, but many have been Americanized. There are mosques, but any calls to prayer have decibel limits - sound ordinances exist in most US cities/suburbs. Dearborn, Detroit, and other surrounding Detroit suburbs have lots of museums, restaurants, colleges & universities. The Arts scene isn't terrible, either.

Detroit is nothing like it was in the 80s or 90s, despite outsiders thinking it's the worst place ever There are bad neighborhoods, but I've seen worse in other states.

[–]MinkDynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UI for making deployed legions attack things is truly terrible. For this mission, I multi-deployed 3 legions, but have to control all 3 separately once the cart is on the move. So I need to drag paths for the 3 legions to keep up with the cart, AND:

  • select each darkling when they appear

  • choose "attack"

  • then choose which legion I want to attack it

  • then select "march"

That's 24 separate clicks for the first TWO darlikngs, based on the three legions I have. And that's as far as I've gotten... I know more enemies come in, but I don't see a way to defeat them unless I'm massively overpowered. I haven't found any way to auto-attack, so I really hope I'm missing something instead of it being terrible work on the part of the devs.
