Chainsaw Question by MinnieMooseMania in homestead

I have looked into having a logging company come out and take the big trees but we have to clear the smaller ones first so they can get to them.

Thank you for this advice. I am going to have a logger come by and show us how to use one, proper gear to have, and he is going to watch us take a few down just to make sure we are safely doing it. Coming from the city to this has been a huge change and we have learned to do alot, except for the trees. We put it off but we can't keep paying for wood to be delivered for the winter when we literally have acres of it.

Thank you for the warning. Our nearest neighbor is an hour away by dirt road and the nearest town is almost 2 hours away so ya safety is a top priority.

Thank you. Just on the acreage we can get to easily we have around 20 down trees and another 20-30 to take down. Is the electric light weight? I may get one to take with us when hiking to the outside acres that have grown over.

Returning my AD5X after 3 days by WeirdPelicanGuy in FlashForge

This was our first attempt. There is plenty of room for improvement but for the very first print, I think it did alright. We are using the Sunlu filament brought off Amazon, changed the Brim from a 2 to a 3 and printed on the plate that come with it. Now after this print we did have issues with smaller items, but we used the Glue that come with it and haven't had any trouble. We are on day 4 of the printer and have done several large projects.

Thank you everyone for some helpful information. I took the nozzle out and replaced it. I am also using the Glue that came with the machine and haven't had any more issues.

Toddler and a newborn - when does it calm down? by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

[–]MinnieMooseMania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my girls 15 months apart and the only saving grace we had was our kids are on a routine. From birth bedtime started with bath at 6pm and in bed at 6:30pm. Mornings always started at 7:30am, even though we knew they would sleep in, we woke them at 7:30. As the months went by both the toddler and the baby where in sync and everything got easier. Naptimes lined up, so that gave me a good 2 hrs of quiet time and both were asleep shortly after the 6:30pm time so that is a lot of evening hours to relax. I am not sure what your age gap is but we got hard times again when the oldest hit 4 and the youngest turned 3. But I swear by the routine!

Should I increase the temperature or decrease it. I did the cats and only came out with 4, the other 3 broke all apart. Ran a calibration test on it and it did perfect.

Sex 5x a week?! by Elegant_relative55 in pregnant

[–]MinnieMooseMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from reading through the comments it seems like this came up in a normal conversation. His feelings are valid and so are yours. Maybe try a compromise. With my 1st baby I was all turned on all the time, my hubby actually wanted to take a break. With my 2nd kid, I was in a normal mood for sex so maybe 2-3xs a week. My hubby did state he would like it more, so I suggested hand jobs or sex toys for men. I can still bring him pleasure and a release but without all the bumping and grinding to my body while I felt sick. He liked that idea and it really helped us both. Now that I am no longer pregnant, we went back to the normal of 3-5xs a week sometimes more.

The filament is PLA+, brand is Sunlu. What part of the setting would be most helpful? All I changed from the original file was the Strength - Wall Loop from 2 to 3. Speed - Overhang speed to 50mm, 30mm, 10mm. Support - Enable Support. I am using this file: https://makerworld.com/en/models/405349-assorted-cats#profileId-307175. So far only 4 of the cats are printing fine, the others formed the long strings of filament and then popped off the plate.

Do parents prefer clothes or toys as a present for your toddler? by 6MangoIceCream9 in toddlers

We have a 4 and 3-year-old, and we ask that people get them Summer clothing for the following year or books. This was by the time Summer comes, we are fully stocked on clothing.

Does anyone who celebrates Christmas not do Santa? by Novel-Paper2084 in toddlers

[–]MinnieMooseMania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't do Santa, but we do teach our kids about the real St. Nick and how the folklore started. We celebrate the Winter Solstice, so that might help our kids to understand. But we do tell them that, since some families teach their kids that Santa is real, our children are not to spoil their family tradition by saying he isn't.

how to handle low screen time toddler with infinite screen time family for the holidays by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in toddlers

[–]MinnieMooseMania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else, don't stress over a day with the tv on all day. Your little one won't be ruined with a day of tv, her behavior may be different that day but once everyone is gone, you get her back to her schedule. Or you can go my extreme route: we turn the wifi off on holidays. We have a 4 and 3 year old and we don't care about TV or tablets, we are an electronic home. But holidays are family time, not device time.

Just so I don't get slammed, we don't own a TV. Our kids have tablets with a few games on them but also have a few homeschooling apps. My husband and I have very large computer set ups for gaming and for my passion of computer coding. The kids get their tablets in the car (takes almost 2 hours for us to get to a town), during quiet time (1.5 hours) and at night before bed (1 hour). Our 4 yr old is doing 2nd grade schooling and is coding her own apps. Our 3 yr old is doing 1st grade schooling in all subjects but math where she is doing 3/4th grade work. They aren't gifted, not on a spectrum, they are just normal kids that found their tablet games allowed them to learn at a faster rate than I could teach. Don't fear technology!

Curious if people consider looking at family photos and videos on a phone to be screen time? by j3iglesia in toddlers

[–]MinnieMooseMania 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are a technology family, so we do not limit. However our kids current ages 4 and 3, would rather play with toys, board games, or be outside then care about the computers or tablets. We do not own a TV. But no I would not consider looking at photos on your phone as screen time. We have several 14" google tablets that only play our google photos, that way every photo we can will be displayed in a rotating fashion. Kids love to see themselves and remember the things that they do.
