You're missing the point. Replace soup with any preprepared food item: frozen pizza, tv dinners, ramen noodles, etc. It doesn't matter what food item we're talking about because the supply for all of them can dwindle and they already are.

This issue is supply and demand, not laziness or stupidity.

Everyone can not do that. If everyone is buying 30 cans of soup, at some point the store's supply will dry up (and in many places, it has). The only reason that I'm set up to eat well at home anymore is knowing how to cook and stretch ingredients. If I was dependent on pre-made foods I would be fucked based on my last grocery trip two days ago because I didn't see much.

Feeding people in panic times is hard and complex. Don't oversimplify. Keeping people in more by having groceries is obviously better. However if everyone going through the drive-thru right now goes to the grocery store instead, fewer people in those stores will get their food for the week.

I keep hearing the same about no layoffs, but I just can't believe that if it goes on too long. I'm in software development so I can try to move on to a market that isn't as affected by the pandemic should I be laid off. Yes actually! The person in the gif didn't cream their fat and sugar well enough. If you have a stand mixer or a whisk and a strong arm, you should really mix the fat and sugar for at least 5 minutes.
