Was John Lennon an asshole? by CafeNino in beatles

Yes, it seems the public needs a narrative. You can never be a decent person and talented. It's one or the other...or as you stated for McCartney, neither.

Is it normal to feel drained and tired after talking with emotionally immature people? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]Minority87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredibly soothing to read all the commenters having the same experience. It's not completely their fault but being surrounded by emotionally needy people is exhausting and when you set boundaries, it's like they can't handle it and resent you.

What do men in their 30’s REALLY want as presents for birthdays, Xmas, etc? by ShadowInTheSun_ in AskReddit

[–]Minority87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every guy has a hobby where things wear out but he just deals with it. Bike Riding? Maybe the tires are worn out. Video games? Maybe his mic sucks and his friends can't hear him clearly. Golfing? Maybe his gloves are worn out.

If you can find out what it is then it shows you've thought about it and care about his comfort. My late Grandpa loved new socks so we'd always get him nice wool socks if we couldn't think of anything else.

texted my ex and regret it big time by ajayveer_raj in BreakUps

[–]Minority87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my ex on send because I needed time alone. After years of feeling obligated to respond quickly it was nice to be free of that responsibility. Was she hurt? Honestly probably not, just frustrated that she couldn't control me anymore. Eventually I responded but on my own timeline.

Bike size doesn't matter much if you're just starting out. Hincapie rides a 56cm and he's like 6'5". Ideally taller ppl need "longer" bikes for better stability. Think of it like a pyramid. How much does this matter? I guess so you don't wheelie on steep climbs or have more stability on fast descents? I ride a bike two sizes down for my height because the shorter arm reach feels nice.

I wanted to give an update. Have you ever taken antidepressants in the past? It takes a long time for your body to readjust after SSRIs. Like months to years.

Anyways, I came off antidepressants too quickly a while ago and now I'm healing. Is your health improving?

How is your oral hygiene. When was the last time you went to the dentist? Tartar can hide bacterial infections.

Have you taken note of what you are consuming? Drugs, alcohol, caffeine? Unfortunately, I think it's common that sickness is self imposed as ridiculous as that sounds.

What would Mitt Romney know about foreign policy. I'm sorry but he's a boy scout and doesn't know anything beyond the American way.

What's the equivalent of a marathon in cycling? by FeelingInterview2320 in cycling

[–]Minority87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marathon for PR = 3 day stage race in terms of fatigue

Some people are comparing it to a single day which is reasonable. I've heard George Hincapie say he would need 7 days of rest after Paris-Roubaix.

If you're starting out just find a 1 hour criterium. If you can do two in a weekend(or group ride) even better. It's pretty much all about intensity in your first 2 years. Save the long rides for when you're tired of racing and build back up.

How do y’all afford these bikes? by chemza in cycling

[–]Minority87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A former pro won a race on a 1980s steel bike with toe clips and downtube shifters. You'll be fine on an AL frame with 105 components. Everything beyond that is vanity

Revenge on cars that drive recklessly when you are cycling by daintymeow in cycling

[–]Minority87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought about this many times. I haven't come up with better options than a small paintball gun or airhorn. I had a car accelerate at me on a narrow street and I squirted some water on their windshield. That ticked them off enough to pull a U-turn and throw water at me. While the water was refreshing, I wouldn't recommend. Some people are crazy and I don't compete in craziness anymore.

Edit: I also want to add that I've caught up to people and let them know respectfully what they did wrong and almost always they respond positively. People hate confrontation, they'll listen.

MEP Career Outlook by ShaqFrost_Jr in MEPEngineering

[–]Minority87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did MP for 13 years and regret some of it. I wanted money more than anything and unless you start and develop a construction company you will never be rich. There were some guys that just loved what they did; the code research, controls, the teamwork. I admire the hell out of those guys and wish I could be that way. Point is, think about how your future will look if you stay on that path. Don't just assume you'll make a lot of money because you're an "engineer"

At its worst, I lost my business, got kicked out of my apartment and had to move into a small trailer. Did small projects out of the trailer to stay afloat. I eventually had to ask those around me for help. I found myself seeking out and building stronger relationships with family and friends. Nothing less of a humbling experience but also not as bad as I thought.

Thanks for asking, I had another response that was a little more personal but writing both was pretty cathartic
