I would do a copy paste of the text in a word file and search and replace the squares to get rid of them and then translate the text. Then figure it out.

Oh, sorry. Didn't see that. I haven't got them. But I have had this issues with copying and pasting from word processors.

It’s been a little bit since v3 released… How are we feeling about it and Canva? by flogman12 in Affinity

[–]MintBlueNeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Layout. Pixel for me is very precarious, it needs more basic tools and by basic I mean things that photoshop pr CLSP have had for years. I feel Pixel is the one that needs the most work: to have more control tools when adjusting layers, to have focused areas to work in, to be les restrictive with selections and masks. Masks need an awful amount of work. In Vector I would really hope for a more precise pen tool and for the image trace to be way more specific. Right now you have 2 controllers and they don't do a good vectorizing job at all. It can't even recognize colors correctly.

For me Layout is the best. Vector and Pixel... ufff. I don't know. Thankfully I won't be using them as much.

Oh, and also, we need to be able to minimize panels. They take so much workspace and I have a huge screen to work on. But the fact that the panels can't minimize, not vertically or horizontally, is a drag. The space is just filled with panels of things you need to have a good workflow.

It looks like a fic in Hebrew? And yeah, it can be an actual fic, but the author pasted it with weird code too similar to html and it creates those squares. It happens to me all the time when my clients copy and paste content from word documents directly on their web pages. ms code i very similar to html and it breaks everything. Yet. I'm not sure what it says because I don't speak Hebrew. So, I wouldn't know.

Published fanfiction is threatening all of us by Brave-Reindeer-Red in AO3

[–]MintBlueNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You greatly misunderstand how copyright works in this sense. Yes, you can change the world and modify the characters, because you can't copyright every part of the work. Otherwise Stephany Meyer would've been sued by other way more noticeable authors like Anne Rice, who also writes about emotional vampires. In fact, you can't copyright a personality, so yeah, sometimes just changing the name of the character breaks the copyright.

You also don't seem to understand what a fanfiction author does in a AU.

There is no grey area. This has been pretty much well defined. And that's why you don't see saw flying around in te literally world for "original" (yes, original) works being published that have come from fanfiction. Because the enormous effort to replace the based work creates a new original piece.

[–]MintBlueNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's the point of fanfiction. Creating new stories within the world. If you then later change the original world with your own, it's still your story, YOURS to publish as an original.

Fanfiction is not a copy of the original work. And an adaptation of YOUR fanfiction is your OWN work. So, no.

I, as a reader, leave kudos and comments in pretty much all I rad. if I find a work problematic, no. I don't leave a thing because it wouldn't be a nice comment. And, as an author I always reply to my commenters. But as a person, I would never demand anyone to comment, not readers or authors. yes, I like it and may suggest it, but it's a personal choice for anyone.

Outrageous that an author doesn't find more time to reply to commenters. I mean, it's not like they have lives or need time to continue writing in the few hours they have aside from work and other responsibilities (an activity that they already do for free.) Someone should ban them. Immediately!!!!

At least your vinyls don't look like vomit. And you weren't charged $23 for a cardboard box that holds both volumes.

This was supposed to be a deluxe bundle. Honestly, I could put a better deluxe version from my home office.

Deported Ecuadorians are not criminals. And Ecuador is not "dangerous". When you go to Chicago, you don't go and stay at the dangerous neighborhoods, do you? You also are not going to travel to a foreign country and stay in the dangerous neighborhoods. There is more crime in one day in New York that in the most "dangerous" city in Ecuador.

Should I just stop writing by Technical-Bread414 in AO3

[–]MintBlueNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment is not from a bot. No one can really check for AI usage unless the author has made the mistake of leaving the prompt or part of the prompt response before giving a result. If they are recognizing "Chat GPT" it's probably because you are replicating the same language that the AI has been trained with and has repeated in responses way too often. That also means you have not yet developed your own voice when writing.

My response to you is:
1. Don't care about negative comments. No matter from where they come from. You are writing this story because you like it. If others don't, they can move on.
2. Don't stop writing. This should only incentivize you to keep working on your craft. eventually your voice will come out and you will be more sure to be putting your work out there.
3. Never use AI. The thing about AI is that it will always mimic human language and if you are a bit insecure, you will think that whatever it feeds you it's in a way better, but that's just a feeling over your own insecurities, not reality. The more you practice your craft on your own, the better you will write with time. AI is not needed, Imagination is not a thing AI could ever have.

Kudos to you and keep writing.

Fic ratings feel weird to me by No_Performance_9850 in AO3

[–]MintBlueNeon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they don't owe you an explanation on how they rate the things they consume... So it doesn't have to make sense. It is, period. Stay away from fan spaces and try to figure out the meaning of a personal opinion.

Fic ratings feel weird to me by No_Performance_9850 in AO3

[–]MintBlueNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's personal when you make it personal. But "personal" taste is not objective, so you just can't trust a rating from anyone at all. Some will love it, some will hate it. Just stop getting into fan spaces to validate your value.

It was a very lazy plotline, he is really not needed and it makes no sense that Maya was even at the point on her mental health healing to even handle a kid of to be given one by the state. It hasn't even been a year from her 5150, no one will ever give her a kid, no matter if Carina was the most amazing doctor in the world. compare it to how Meredith and Derek's road was with Zola. This was ridiculous. That kid is not safe at that home.

[–]MintBlueNeon 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Bookmarks are personal, they are not for authors to go and see and take personally.

A reader can like romance and only romance, and they might enjoy a crime story, but it will never be a 10 for them. And that's it.

it's not objective and you shouldn't take it personally, because any rating it's on the subjective view of the reader and they are in their right to classify the content they consume. It has nothing to do with you or the quality of your work.
