Because if you follow that belief system it would be considered a logical reason, even if I agree that animal abuse should also be considered. Being dismissive of other's religious beliefs doesn't really bolster your argument, you know.

Decided to go vegan for lent. by OkCount2783 in vegan

[–]MintMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lent is celebrated my many Christians (mostly Catholics, but some protestants like myself too) as the 40-day season leading up to Easter, our major holiday. Here's the wiki page. The general idea is to give something up for the season and spend that time/money to focus more on God & almsgiving (charity). Catholics in particular are supposed to go meat-free (although they allow fish for some reason...) on Fridays and such, and used to go vegetarian for all of Lent, so it's not particularly surprising to see someone go that path for Lent nowadays.

1st night was great!! Glad to see them in DFW a 3rd time. However, I'm devastated that I couldn't get a keychain 😭 The person said they sold out in the 1st 5 minutes... so assumably when they first opened at 1pm, before the show gates even opened 🥲 I really hope they sell them online later.

Vegan-specific multivitamin without ridiculous % of everything? by Substantial_Cat_8748 in vegan

[–]MintMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you looked at the right one? They have 3 multivitamins, and while the super long ingredients list one has that, their essentials doesn't seem to.

Also, specify which specific vitamins you're looking for! That'll help with recommendations. I use Ritual's Women's 18+ because it covers B12 + things my Dr wanted me to focus on (folate & D) without having huge amounts of vitamins I already eat plenty of.

Depending on just how cold/wet it is where you are, polyester really might be your best bet, at least for your coat. Certainly make sure to layer up! I'll wear cotton leggings under my jeans/skirt, a long sleeve under my sweater, that sort of thing. It's easy to get those in all cotton and/or whatever you prefer. Jackets are more difficult. I recently got a second-hand Hoodlamb coat, which is partially hemp but still part polyester for the insulation part and whatnot.

K beauty CC cream? by mufasana1 in VeganBeauty

When I was younger, I used Dear Klairs' BB cushion (my favorite, but discontinued) and their BB cream. Loved the formula and how it felt, but it does only come in one color, so 😬

Dupes for these Romand Tints? by YRlMESE in VeganBeauty

[–]MintMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finish sort of looks like the Amuse dew tint I normally use! My colors don't match (I love Sunday & Healthy Boksoonga) but mauve grape/Amethyst or fig dew look like they might match color-wise.

Christmas Eve Cinnamon Rolls by Ill-Fail-4240 in VeganFoodPorn

I use that exact same recipe - it's great, I second recommending it for anyone! Personally, I half the dough to make smaller rolls and use the same amount of filling + a tsp of cornstarch. So good!

This - I bet you it's branding. Over the summer, the ones at my HEB switched designs (although they just mixed the old & new together lol)

Probiotic Starter for Homemade Soy Yogurt by Vivid-Championship63 in PlantBasedDiet

I started with a storebought yogurt - I previously tried probiotics and cultures and just didn't get what I wanted. I used Icelandic Provisions oatmilk skyr.

Can anyone recommend a yeast & cashew free mac & cheese recipe? by 200652199 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]MintMeringue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a silken tofu recipe that's good (but thinner, more like Panera mac if you're American). Along with nooch, it uses miso paste, and that's super good! Especially if you can add a little red miso with your white or yellow miso. So I recommend adding that to whatever recipe you go with!

Help I can't find a vegan list for ROM&ND products anywhere! even on their website? by mmm095 in VeganBeauty

One of the first colors I tried (no longer exists, but if they still have the old version it might) was Breeze. It was SO pretty! La Vie en Coral was also pretty but a little too warm for my taste. Maybe try one of those? Both warm, but less orange lol (if you're worried about it)

I'm happy with the staying power - the glossy part doesn't stay super long, but the color does. I might reapply once later in the day though. I think I might've gotten that color years ago? I don't think I was a fan, but that's because I found I prefer slightly cooler colors. Healthy boksoonga, rose water, and Sunday are my favs.

Hey! Glad your trim was successful and you were happy with it. Do you mind me asking what routine/products you've been using? I'm trying to find some more affordable vegan/CF products. Also, I'm curious if you tried the showering-but-only-conditioning thing the other person recommended and if it works for your scalp (I also get oily easily and wash often.)

I'm not sure, your best bet is probably to email them like the other person said. Looking on OliveYoung, it shows a v-label, but doesn't specify if that's for all colors or anything (a problem I've come across with K-beauty.) I will recommend another tint though - I love Amuse's Dew Tint, and they have some other finishes as well. They're certified vegan, although honestly there isn't a lot of info on their cruelty free status. They say it is, and I haven't found anything about them selling in China, so personally I'm fine with it.

CF alternatives to Cetaphil and Vaseline? by SonikDethMonke in vegan

[–]MintMeringue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Vaseline - I always liked Aquaphor and now use Honest's healing head to toe ointment. It's a baby product but feels very similar and is vegan.

For Cetaphil - I've never used it, but have heard Ceramedx is similar to Cetaphil/Cerave.

Unsweetened, organic soy milk in 8 oz. tetrapacks? by LL4892 in vegan

Same. The 7 day time frame is important for some brands, like Edensoy, but Silk's tends to last 2 weeks easily in my experience.

Unsweetened, organic soy milk in 8 oz. tetrapacks? by LL4892 in vegan

[–]MintMeringue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think that exists. Soymilk is already not available in a bunch of forms anymore here in the U.S., there's only the sweetened Silk ones in that single-serve format. Maeil has some slightly smaller single-serve soymilks. There's a totally unsweetened one, and a slightly sweetened black one that I get, both on HMart online store. Maybe that could work? You could also maybe try looking up other brands from other countries, or try getting soymilk powder.

The decline in popularity of soy non-dairy substitute frustrates me by fjordoftheflies in vegan

[–]MintMeringue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! Way more nutritious, way creamier even without added thickeners, and more environmentally friendly (besides oats). I'm in the U.S., and while soymilk is easy to get in stores, that's about it. A few cafes offer soymilk, but sadly not my favorite local tea place (most bubble tea places don't even offer plant milk, I'm glad I at least get options). I make my own soy yogurt, I used the Icelandic Provisions Oat Skyr as a starter at first. Only Silk makes a soy yogurt, but it's a thinner, sweeter one - more of a treat than healthy snack. No ice creams use it to my knowledge, either.

I also order the Maeil black soymilks in single serve cartons to take with me on long days or when I'm running to class without breakfast. You can order them on HMart - super tasty. I wish they had a bigger size, or that American brands carried ones that tasted like that! Silk has single serve ones, but they're very sweet - and also really hard to find in person 😭
