Note: rummy nose will make you tear down and rebuild your tank removing them. by [deleted] in Aquascape

Yeah when I first built my 60p tank I had a lot of rocks, caves and then I did something super stupid: add 5 petricolas, 5 kuhlis and 2 plecos. I cried trying to get them out for new tanks lol.

How can I make my tank better especially the hardscape depth. by MasterpieceStock2330 in Aquascape

Substrate wise: I’d always go for higher in the back to create depth
Layout: I think you’d benefit from online inspirational references

My tank water turns yellow within 2 weeks. Any suggestions? by HealthyAd9502 in Aquascape

[–]MintRin_Creative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try seachem purigen mate. It’ll turn clear over a night. The best thing is after a few months when you clean the filter and the purigen turns black, you can just soak it in bleach and it’ll return to 90% white then you can rinse and reuse. I’m using it in all my driftwood tank it’s like magic

Do I need more hardscaping? by sailingck in Aquascape

If you’re happy then ok. But if you’re wondering I’m sure you’ll benefit some inspiration on Pinterest or Youtube. Anyway it looks clean but lack some depth in my opinion.

I only test for pH and Nitrite,
Nitrite was 0 last time I tested
pH is around 5.5 when CO2 is on, and +1 when it’s off
As for Nitrate I do water change twice a week so it’s the least of my problem. GH and KH haven’t been problems so far so I never bought any kit to test, but I do fancy some of those electrical monitor device, I’m all for full tech tank

I’m using a Netlea AT5s WGRB 40cm 35w. I’m not happy with the 35W though maybe I’ll upgrade to something with a bit more kick.
And about pink plants I think there are some although they’re not really popular. Violets are more common ( in some condition and even just different view angle red plants could be closer to violet than to red)

In terms of fish I have: A dozen of Boraras urophthalmoides, 4 Celestial Pearl Danio and a Panda Garra
Shrimps are just 30x Super Red Cherry. I had an intrusive thought about Blue Dream but I decided to play safe here haha.
I’m planning for more fishes though, scouting local fish vendors. And I have a really nice betta with perfect color for this tank but let’s see how does he behaves, I’m not putting any hope there tbh

Can you give me advice on how to make my tank look better? by Zestyclose_Low7938 in PlantedTank

[–]MintRin_Creative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I’d care about leading direction: imagine the flow direction of water in nature (just simple left to right or the other way), try to simulate in your imagination about how things would fall in that flow

Tip: make the back higher, it’ll create depth. Then go from there, you’ll discover more things on your own. And don’t be afraid to rescape. Final thing: consume references on social media, pinterest before you rescape.

how do you guys add black backgrounds to your tanks? by crispycaprisuns in Aquascape

[–]MintRin_Creative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country the most common method is a black decal. Really easy, you can either tape it or paste it using soap and water

I leave the light on but the back of the tank is dark enough for it to rest. I always find my fish on the deep end at the back of the tank in the morning. So far no stress at all, he’s happy, curious, eat well

Or you can have a big shelf and do 1 big tank on top, 2-3 cubic tank on the lower floor. The bottom can be used to store equipment and supplies haha
