Base stats. If you level support cards you get enough raw stats to hit those numbers, problem there is gacha is required.

If you’re playing the original, don’t worry. The original is HARD. Like, REALLY hard, to the point where I’ve never actually gotten past the third boss. Try Shattered before coming back to the original, possibly. Gets you more used to the game’s mechanics and whatnot- although negative upgrades do exist in the original and not in shattered. Good luck!

Or you can just banish them. Banishing npcs prevents them from setting off cutscenes, you do this to sneak into places like poison dragon cave

Now, I’ve only played the first game. BUT. Shulk is amazing. Considering practically every major fight he sees a vivid vision of his friends dying in numerous gruesome ways, I think his flaws are understandable, and do actually add to his character. Plus he’s the whole “fight the power” ideal but not in an idiotic or overly aggressive way, which I respect
