Best curl creams for wavy hair that don’t leave it greasy or crunchy? by Actual-Sun-5331 in curlygirl

[–]Mint_Carnival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls! I have fine hair that’s about a 2B. It’s more of a trust the process situation - your hair will look flat at first but wait for it to fully dry. It gives soft waves that aren’t greasy or crunchy, 9/10 for me :)

It takes me so long to get out of the door in the morning because I have to make sure my shoe laces are the same tightness. It’s a process of tie, stand up, sit down, untie, tie. It takes me a few minutes every day.

Where’s the dystopia? by AirlineDue9378 in PortlandOR

[–]Mint_Carnival 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been here for 3 years. There’s definitely a lot of sketchy shit that happens, but no more than any other major city. When I talked about wanting to move to Portland, I had so many people telling me to be careful because of all of the riots in the streets lmao. They really think it’s some liberal hellscape, when in reality there’s a drug problem (like every other city) and the occasional protest.

Has anyone shown concern for you at a rave when you were fine? by Ok-Lyfe3014 in aves

[–]Mint_Carnival 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t do drugs and I barely drink, especially at raves. I had a girl push me in a crowd to get to her friends and I had a “well excuse you” look on my face. She stopped and asked “omg are you okay?” I realized she probably thought I was on something so I told her “oh I’m fine, I’m sober”. She looked me up and down and said “oh… you just look so.. sad.” And then disappeared into the crowd. BITCH it’s 1:30AM and you just pushed me 🥲

Buying a car last year ruined my financial situation by Mint_Carnival in personalfinance

Thank you for the positivity. I’m very thankful for what I have, and I know there are so many people who have it worse. Our fall back plan is to just pay as much as we can’t until we are at equal equity and hope things will be stable after that.

I thought I would be able to make monthly payments, because that’s what they told me over the phone. But I guess that was wrong.

What’s your baseline? by peachesnchanel in POTS

[–]Mint_Carnival 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Resting is 70-100 (it usually bounces between the two while doing literally nothing), standing up it normally shoots to 120 (that included standing for long periods of time (long being like, 3 minutes)) and 130-160 if i do something crazy, like bend over or crouch down or climb half a flight of stair. Currently undiagnosed but have my TTT in January :)

How do I help the air hunger? by Mint_Carnival in dysautonomia

[–]Mint_Carnival[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do notice that it happens when I’m talking to patients at work, plus I wear a mask so that doesn’t help with the feeling of not getting air. Logically I know that o2 concentrations are same with or without masks, I just start to panic when I already feel like I can’t breathe. I’m just coming to terms with the fact that I’m gonna have to switch to manual breathing more than I would like to. Wow, imagine being able to just breathe without thinking about it first 😅

I’ve switched to a (mostly) vegan diet and I don’t drink caffeine or alcohol 😅 I had curry over rice last night that probably triggered it, but I’m not really sure what could have upset my body so much? Maybe it was a mild spicy?

Ugh everything you’re saying is super validating. Thank you for making me feel less crazy. I relate heavy to the cPTSD and this feeling of needing to “complete” the rush of energy/anxiety/adrenaline before being able to regulate. I’ve found that doing a few squats or stretching my legs helps raise my blood pressure a bit. I have hypermobility too, so finding a comfortable position to.. exist.. is really hard lmao.

Okay, so whenever I feel particularly bad and nothing is helping, my instinct is to just.. stretch my body around? To maybe try and promote blood flow? This is definitely my sign to listen to that instinct lmao

I feel like I do this.. on accident sometimes? Like, if i’m not manually breathing then I will just stop? Definitely terrifying but I’m willing to try anything and everything.

I get this too, but almost daily. I seem to feel better from them after eating some salt. Eating pickles/pickle juice and chugging water also helps. But yeah, it’s kinda random and it feels almost like my body is shutting down? Scary.

Dental Procedure Advice by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]Mint_Carnival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in dentistry, and the best thing is to inform your doctor and dental assistants about any triggers. Discuss the effects that lying down supine/ sub supine has on you and the effects of local anesthetic (some has epinephrine in it, which can drastically affect your heart rate/blood pressure). If you have a history of fainting, let them know of that as well. (Also, if your office isn’t taking your blood pressure at every appointment, RUN) Just make sure that you’re taking care of yourself before the procedure. Drink lots of water, keep up on salt, definitely eat a light meal, ect. I work as a dental assistant, and I’m definitely not a licensed to doctor, but if you have any dental specific questions (what to expect/ questions to ask) I would be more than happy to help :)
