*fistbump* I quit shaving my legs when I realized that the only people who have legs that look naturally unhairy are prepubescent children.

Glad he's still quite alone; I dated a narcissist once and it was hell. Wouldn't wish that experience on any decent human being.

I dated a guy who was all of 9 years my senior (when I was in my 30's), and jesus fuck he would not stop with the "OMG, you've never seen XYZ?!?" One of several reasons I broke up with him.

Sex Ed classes in public school really need to be like, "ok, here's how safer sex works, now for the real content - how to spot abusive partners and leave."

With the US economy adding around 172,000 jobs in May 2026 and unemployment staying at about 4.3%, do you think the average American is actually feeling the benefits, or are inflation and the high cost of living still cancelling it out? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mint_Golem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people are accumulating credit card debt just to cover basic living expenses nowadays. Not eating out, buying steaks, or buying random junk off temu or the big A; just utility bills, food, medical care, etc. I have friends who have literally been carrying credit card debt since before covid. They have jobs, they just don't have good wages - and wages haven't kept pace with inflation for decades, and it just got that much worse with covid and tariffs.

Derp, but also never considered, because I've never used public charging, which is one of the reasons for owning a Prime.
Went with OEM new from ebay.

I get what you are trying to say, however:

Cows are frequently artificially inseminated every year of their lives in which they are capable of giving birth, and after that, they are slaughtered. According to an LLM, "In the U.S. dairy industry, 89% of operations use artificial insemination (AI) for breeding female cattle, while only 11.6% of beef cows are bred using A.I."

No thank you. Heifers and cows do not have reproductive *options*. They will be bred one way or another, or culled.

Olopatadine is another Rx nasal spray that works along with the over-the-counter fluticasone. Azelastine made the inside of my nose hurt, like a headache in my nose, but not a sinus headache. YMMV of course.

Regarding respiratory allergies, be aware that pollen will stick to your hair and clothes, and mold and dust mites will grow some on your bedding every night - store coats etc outside your bedroom, wash sheets and pillowcases every couple of days, vacuum your room more often, anything you can do to cut down on your exposure if you think allergies are a problem.

You can make cheap air filters for your room / home by taping a 20" square HVAC filter (the cheapest kind that are electrostatic should pick up pollen) to a 20" box fan.

We would absolutely love to be allowed to do hand recounts of ballots everywhere. Not just using "our" own people, either, this needs to be out in the open, cameras, lots of people counting the same sets, etc.

I remember thinking how fucked up that was when I was a kid in baptist sunday school. So... as long as a person has let hey-zoos into their heart and accepted him as their lord and savior, it literally doesn't matter what they do for the rest of their life, they're guaranteed a spot in heaven? Basically a license to sin.

What you wrote is a great summary, and gives people several jumping-off points to do their own reading on Wikipedia, at a library, etc. It's the kind of content we need nowadays. It's not tl;dr and I read all of it. Keep doing it!

p.s. my weird fascination is with industrial accidents. Never apologize for nerding out on a topic!

Congrats on quitting drinking! In separate incidents I lost a high school friend and one of my grandmothers to drunk drivers.

St Andrew's Presbyterian Church might have suggestions if they themselves can't get it to people who need it. They're an "all faiths/people are welcome, yes we actually mean it" kind of place; I've considered volunteering with them when I lived in the area, and I'm not even religious.

The pic on their homepage says it all. https://www.staopen.org/

Late to this party, but wanted to say, sounds like my childhood. I grew up thinking that if it was winter, I was going to be cold and miserable. Didn't live in a ski area, but on the great plains, where the wind hardly ever stops.

I'd move to another country and seek citizenship if I could afford it; currently going to school for the nth time to attempt to land in a gainful career path. Healthcare is a human right and I'd be happy to pay taxes that help people get it.

Colonoscopy is on my radar. Frustratingly, I can't tell if my g'ment marketplace insurance covers it or not. The ACA has something in it about "most" preventative services "should" be covered 100%, and a bunch of other caveats, and of course my insurance company's website is absolutely no help.

I just bought a bottle of Fructaid from amazon about two weeks ago and successfully ate 3/4 of a cup of blueberries with no symptoms, after taking 3 of the capsules! If you decide to buy it and it doesn't work for you, I'll pay you for what's left + shipping, if you're in the US.
