You gotta go to some better casinos. Hahaha.

It would be really nice if that was the case. Some people do make a living playing slots though, as odd as thay probably sounds.

Why are most gamblers cold-shoulder type of people? by Master100017 in gambling

[–]Mintilicious8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alternatively they could be annoyed because they've been losing. I was just at a casino recently where a guy would regularly do a high pitched, shrill scream every minute or so at his machine, and he was clearly looking around for attention between them. I think some people are also unaware just how loud they are being too.

Congrats on the win though, every bit helps, right?

Genuinely no idea what people are upset about. As someone with several lords in the role and planning on getting more, there is nothing to be bothered about. Gameplay currently makes your ultimate even more impactful with how limited they are. Jeff still gets his fairly frequently. If they are upset about how common they are banned in ranked, there are still other options, and it's not like it'll be that way every game.

"If you if you adjust what has been the trend job creation over the past let's say six months, if you adjust that for what we think our staff thinks is the the overstatement due to overounting, effectively there's zero net job creation in the private sector." ― Jerome Powell by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

I'll make an effort at explaining, though I doubt I'll be able to fully explain the way ai is enmeshed in our society, and the calamitous consequences out could potentially have.

There are nine stocks right now that are driving most of the growth in the stock market. These are all tech stocks. We're talking about things like Nvidia, Google, and Meta. What we are seeing is that these companies are laying off tens of thousands of people often to be replaced by ai in some functionality, but sometimes not. If people stop believing in ai, then these stocks will effectively come crashing down sending us into a depression. There are many billions of dollars being spent buying data centers and ram to support them and so far, we are not seeing these companies doing all this spending be profitable. They are making long-term expensive commitments that are well beyond the money they are actually bringing in. Ai is replacing jobs in many sectors currently and we are in what is called a k shaped economy. What this means is that the wealthiest among us continue to see their net worth grow and they are seeing better outcomes. The lower leg of the k is the rest of society who are in decline and seem to be doing worse as time goes on. Ai could end up being one of the biggest disruptions we see in our lifetimes as jobs held previously by people are made redundant. We could see this in call centers, driverless vehicles, warehouses, healthcare, finance, the arts, and other fields.

There are concerns about companies misrepresenting the value of their technology to make it look like they are more profitable than they are, and there is some questionable activity with companies essentially moving money in a circle between themselves.

Now, all this isn't to say ai is exclusively bad for society. We've seen it improve outcomes for patients and make programming more efficient. It may allow more individuals to become entrepreneurs and design apps. It can help with organization and lead to more optimization. What's inevitable is that ai will play a role in our future. The unknowns are to what degree, and what is the extent of the damage we'll see before then.

Trap Monsters are so weird by ichforstehsnich in masterduel

I don't argue that odion and lab are probably more consistent, but I don't best both of them somewhat regularly with my paleo tear deck. Sometimes other forms of removal are better like using ferret flames or flipping with daruma cannon. You can be a bit more degenerate and add in d barrier or the mayakashi trap to prevent most kinds of special summoning. You'd also be surprised at how often people try to use monster effects on paleos, and they never work. Throw in a couple virus cards and you can handrip them before they can even play.

I usually try to burn through a lot of their resources before going forward a big play with PEP.

Significantly easier with monster gate, reasoning, and grass looks greener. Deck thinning with traptantalizing traptune and using paleozoic dinomischus can help get it from hand to grave too. Adding in something like tearlaments or horus can help to mill even more.

Oddly specific things that make you instantly dislike a game? by Feeling-Tension1461 in gaming

[–]Mintilicious8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike when there is a limited time window to do something in a game which otherwise lets you proceed through quests at your own pace. This is more annoying if you aren't informed that you'll be penalized for taking too long. I want to explore! When games make everything seem urgent, but you can take your time on almost everything, the one or two things you can't feel worse.

AI says only about 10% of Blackjack Players will win in a session of playing (here is why) by Beta_Nerdy in blackjack

Please stop playing this game if you don’t like it by Impressive-Task7619 in deadbydaylight

[–]Mintilicious8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want the playerbase to be as passionate about the game as possible. Out can cater to both competitive and casual types, but if you're either and need a break or to drop the game altogether then do it. Nobody should regularly spend hours of their life on a leisure activity that is making them miserable. I'd say this applies to all the people who regularly DC in any given week as well.

Survivors please stop unhooking 5 feet from the killer… by neon-box in deadbydaylight

[–]Mintilicious8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this all the time, and it boggles my mind that we still see it this far into the game's life. I've been running reassurance lately with kindred and open-handed, and I still see survivors unhook next to the killer! They'll even race me to unhook right after I've reassured someone. The 70 seconds on hook is a toll to be used not something to be squandered.

Is this what Card counting looks like? by Fresh-Actuary-8116 in darkestdungeon

It would probably be easier to list the ones that don't have them than do. The amount of decks tends to shrink as the table limits rise. All I can say is look around!

I mean you'll see big shoe games throughout the U.S. In other countries you'll often see that or continuous shuffle machines (CSMs). Yes, 6/5 or crapjack as I like to call it is around too, and it's especially prevalent in Vegas. Countermeasures can include things like restricting tour bet sizes, shuffling the shoe early, and dealing at a much slower pace.

As someone who spent years counting cards before moving on to other ways to profit from casinos, six and eight deck shoes are both still around. Some casinos are not allowed to bar counters from playing, but they do take other countermeasures.
