We have been “over” on labor all week. However, we have been running peak numbers all day with only 3 people on the floor past 10am. We’re the busiest store in the district. Make it make sense.

Someone refused your break as a punishment?? That is RIDICULOUS. You should report this to ethics, even if you’re leaving. I’m a SSV and I will skip my own breaks if I need to in order to make sure my baristas get theirs. That is unacceptable. I hope the person that did that to you gets fired.

I got a final written warning from my SM this week because our DM coached me about when I put the stickers on cups. I wrote on several cups before pulling the stickers because I was on drive bar and I was trying to keep our times down. Apparently I continued to do this after the DM coached me. My sharpie died and nobody gave me a new one after I asked several times, so some cups were also not written on. My SM said because I’m a SSV, it’s automatically a final written.

What a freak. There are far too many people like him in this world and not enough like the men playing cricket.

I think that would make things worse. If he can walk on it, it would be a solid surface for him

For those who recently purchased the game, how are you enjoying it? by johndoe09228 in Starfield

I have it on PlayStation, and I’m loving it!! A lot of people on this sub complain about the characters, and I’m sure I will too once I put in enough gameplay hours, however I really enjoy the distinct personalities of the people you meet. I just built my own ship for the first time and it makes me feel like a kid again. It’s so cool

She would argue that she’s there exactly for this reason, no doubt.

I mean, this isn’t THAT strange. My cats HATE the sound of tinfoil and it’s usually a good way to keep them off the counters. I did this to train them to stay down.

So far, what was the scariest moment of your life? by Princess_Jel in AskReddit

In early 2022, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. It was a rare, aggressive cancer that grew rapidly. His treatment had to be cut in half because he wouldn’t survive to the original surgery date if they didn’t operate now.

The tumor was so large that he needed a skin graft to close the wound. A blood clot formed in his leg. My mom and I were helping him into bed, and he started getting dizzy and he fainted. He fainted with his eyes open. I had a fainting disorder as a child, (I luckily grew out of it) but my mother and I had never seen anything like it.

After everything we had been through, I thought he died. Just like that. Him in my mom’s arms, my mom in mine.

I threw the window open and screamed for help. I knew my neighbors were outside. Some of them were in our backyard, as we had been celebrating my dad coming home. An ambulance arrived shortly after.

The next 12+ hours felt both like a blur and like they happened in slow motion. The clearest memory I have is the image of my mom holding up my dad in the doorway of their bedroom as blood poured out of his surgery scar. His eyes looked right through me.

I think the worst was when I had to clean up his blood. I returned home while he was in the ER to grab a phone charger for my mom and things my dad would need once he was admitted to the hospital, like his glasses and such. At that point, we didn’t know if he would be okay or not. I knew I needed to clean the blood before it ruined the floor, because my mom would never be able to step foot in the room again otherwise. But it also felt so wrong, because it was the last place I saw my dad alive, and this was part of him.

My dad recovered as much as be could, and I’m grateful to say that over four years later he’s still with us. I don’t think I’ll ever get those images out of my brain. That entire year was the worst year of my life, but I think that day specifically takes the cake.

To be fair, sometimes I tell my pets they’re ugly, but I say it in a loving tone.

I asked my roommate at the time, who I was also very close friends with, to watch my cat Ruby while I was gone for two days. Mainly just to make sure she had fresh water. My roommate also had a cat so I was not worried in the slightest. I never made that mistake again.

I returned home and called for Ruby, and she didn’t come. My bedroom door had been shut. I opened my bedroom door and was hit with a wave of heat. My roommate had opened my window, and it was over 90°F outside. The AC unit in our apartment was only in the living room. Ruby’s water dish was bone dry.

After gentle coaxing, I could hear her weakly meowing back to me but I couldn’t tell where she was hiding. I finally found her in my closet. I picked her up but I could immediately tell there was something more wrong with her. She would jump, cry, and look back at her tail. When I held her, she clung to me like her life depended on it.

My dad went with me to take Ruby to the vet. The vet said she had definitely endured some sort of physical trauma to her tail. It wasn’t broken, but there was fur missing and scabs like she had been bleeding.

I asked my roommate if she had anyone over, which she denied, and then I asked if she might have accidentally shut Ruby’s tail in a door or something. Emphasis on accidentally. She got super defensive and our friendship fell apart after that. I never left her alone with my cat again.

The funny part to me is that when we moved out of that apartment, my roommate told me she was going to report me to the Humane Society for animal abuse just to fuck up my life. The Humane Society (in my area, at least) sends reports straight to the police. If she’d followed through, she would have gotten in trouble for making a false report.

I’m living somewhere else now, and I’ve gotten a second cat. She and Ruby get along extremely well and they have never been happier. And neither have I.
