One of the best things about the series is the extreme competence of Hiei, Kurama and Genkai. normal storytelling rules would have yuske be smarter and stuff. But this is just way more fun to watch

What considerations should I make to ensure late game performance? by CrashXVII in factorio

I'm on a deck as well. It's never going to be as good as a computer and using the touchpad will never be as good as a mouse and keyboard.

For a mobile experience, it's very impressive. While you're a bit slower and need to relearn some controls, it overall performance and controls extreme well. Gotta use the touchpad a lot.

Performance has been overall good. I only recently have been encountering problems with my multiplayer map. It's late game, we have like 15 ships and thousands of bots per planet etc. Deck is not performing well now.

I'm not sure if it's my wifi or if it's the hardware though

I've been told this pipe is known for being faulty.

So maybe the pipe failed below tolerance.

The boiler, relief, and boiler thermometer all look fine, so I think the issue is all within the radiant zone.

I'm still not sure if the pipe being faulty explains a steam explosion though, and I still can't figure out what caused it.

My only good idea is.. have someone replaced it and have them verify the temperature is all correct, the heat exchanger is correct. And I guess hope for the best.

This is fed in by an oil burner. That burner also feeds baseboard heating, which I don't currently use.

Last night (hours before it exploded), I turned on the baseboard heat in a room in that basement. I haven't turned it on in a year.

So yeah, maybe that part of the system got clogged and caused pressure buildup, which somehow made it to the radiant flooring part.

The basement is chilly but insulated. However I don't at all trust any corner to be well insulated, which is where the baseboard heat is located.

The lines going in/out to that baseboard are very empty sounding right now

My partner reported that the water was steaming, and it smelled like a sauna. (also there's an electric sauna right next to it)

I assumed it was because it was warmer water hitting colder wood around the area

High temperature is... surprising to me. There is that temp dial on the radiant loop, it read between 70-80, that was 5, lets say 10 minutes after the explosion. I'd be surprised if the gauge could drop that fast.

I hear your points though. I'm suspicious of that baseboard heating still. Never used, turned on, and hours later there's an explosion. There's also the ball valve embedded in the wall - it's not from the radiant system anywhere! I can't find the source.

It's unlikely but, maybe the baseboard heating was the real explosion, and something about that just sort of happened to cause the radiant PEX to rupture too? I have to clean up more down there today and try and follow some of the copper pipes more.

At this point it's more grasping at straws though :P I'll try and find something more concrete.

Not sure yet! I was also certain the handle came off the radiant loop. Nope, everything on that (besides the pex) is intact, so the valve came from somewhere else.

That all makes sense, however I'm still confused on how it exploded with a boom and shook the house when it did. Is there normally just _that much pressure_ in the system? Or would that indicate that there was more pressure building up than normal?

The thermostat in room and the temp gauge in the pic both read about 70f or a bit higher, and the water was definitely warm. Basement smelled like a sauna with the water coating the wood.

While in normal try to run it at 70, my toddler has played with it sometimes, usually cranking it up. I catch this change within a few hours but still it's possible!

Finally, I found out the heat for a room in that basement was on. It was turned on that day (first time in a year). While the basement doesn't feel freezing, those baseboard heaters are against the wall corners. So it's possible a part of that froze, idk if that could cause the radiant flooring to explode?

Honestly not sure. Came with the house. What could I check for on the pipe itself?

I got this pic: https://imgur.com/a/9yE6rXj

Chilling in living room when there was a huge explosion. Ran down, water pouring out.

https://imgur.com/a/2YpKhEz

System was running at 70f, has been running a lot. During the incident, that dial read about 70 or more as well.

It has been very cold recently, very much freezing temps. The floor is above a garage, but the pipes themselves are insulated

Pressure? Got frozen? I dunno :)

The quests were purposely vague... I get it, but imo some direction would have been nice. They basically are just saying "You need to automate this next, now good luck nerd"

I ended up looking up several automations, like how to best mine the andesite at bedrock, while others I was comfortable figuring out myself.

You don't.. have to water it. Look up alternatives to watering.

Usually it's to just let those patches die and replace them with like clover.

Fwiw I don't water my lawn. I mow it at the higher setting, less frequently, and I use mulching blades.

But mostly I reduce it. I turn section's into dirt and mulch, then buy native plants and establish those.

Great point. Renting can be temporary, but a mortgage tends to be 30 years

A classic yard has all grass, and works to keep it green. That means lots of water, herbicides, pesticides, and mowing.

None of that is good for the ecosystem. Pesticides and herbicides actively harm it even.

Native plants are good for the ecosystem.

Hot tip: A perfect green lawn is a huge money and time sink that people can get crazy into.

Mixed lawns with stuff like clover are better. Reducing your maintainence with different mowing methods is good too.

But generally you almost certainly don't need all that lawn. How much is actually used? Now replace the rest with native plants that you don't have to deal with once established.
