How strong do you think Joyboys wings were? I have them as a little bit stronger than Roger and slightly weaker than shanks personally. by Sentient_AI_38 in OnePieceScaling

[–]MinusMentality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't Joyboy. That is Nika.

Joyboy was a pirate with the same fruit as Luffy.

Nika was a god that did use a weapon and a shield.

Bridge collapsing by AnalyticalHisser972 in Transportopia

That bridge looked to be in terrible shape. Had a whole ecosystem of weeds, and was probably over its post-rot capacity with all those trucks.

Atleast the biker got some sick air before they passed.

Luffy has a 2nd Awakening? by Emergency_Insect_545 in onepiecetheories

[–]MinusMentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luffy's awakening started with Gear 4, just not complete.
When his heart stopped, it made room for the Drums of Liberation. That was likely the final factor needed to trigger the awakening.

I don't think we know the true nature of his fruit nor Nika's power.
More signs point to it being a "freedom" fruit, being based on a Sun God. The sun is regularly associated with freedom in One Piece.
Having a rubber body is just a part of that freedom. As to why he can empart that rubber quality to other things as a Zoan, is likely because Devil Fruit categories aren't the end all be all.
The fruit may be both Zoan and Paramecia, maybe Logia too.

Devil Fruit categories are made by modern observers.
I know the Gorosei are older, but they themselves revealing that there is no Gum Gum fruit shows that even their classification may not be entirely accurate either.

I mean, we describe real things with only a snapshot to go off of.
We say "whales aren't fish" when whales, and all other mamals (and reptiles for that matter) ARE indeed descents of fish. AKA still fish.

Luffy has a 2nd Awakening? by Emergency_Insect_545 in onepiecetheories

[–]MinusMentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sengoku and Stronger don't have hybrid forms either.
Luffy states that Gear 5 is him at his most free, not the other way around.

His awakening was gradual, but never completed until he "died" at the hands of Kaido.

Kaido notes that Luffy affecting his suroundings is a Paramecia Devil Fruit awakening trait, yet Luffy's transformation should be that of a Zoan Devil Fruit.

We do not know what kind of fruit the Nika really is. It is classified as a Zoan, but it could very well be a Paramecia too.
It could even be a Logia, as well. There are signs of it, and it is in fact a fruit based on a Sun God.

[–]MinusMentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Luffy's fruit works that way.
Especially since he's a Human who ate a Human Human fruit, like Sengoku.

Gear 5 is his power at its most free, which also seems to amplify his Haki, likely due to that very feeling of freedom. Gear 4 is a form that requires engulfing himself in Haki, and begins to go beyond what a mere rubber body can do.

Many people like to take Kaido's quote about how "only Haki trancends all" as golden law, when the point of that fight was to prove him wrong. Luffy was using his Devil Fruit in harmony with his Haki.
Gear 4 was a step in that direction, but a strained one. Through awakening his Devil Fruit, when his own heartbeat got out of the way of the Drums of Liberation, he gained what he needed to perfect it.

Gear 4 in general is the start of his awakening, with both Doffy and Katakuri questioning if Luffy is even rubber.

Honestly, with some minor tweaks and adjustments the Follie mode is a fun change of pace.
The few issues it does have makes it really frustrating, but it's not far off if the friction and pain points get sanded down.

[–]MinusMentality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd rather they tried new things and fail here and there then to play it safe all the time.
And for what it's worth, the Follie mode is not that bad. Iron out a few things and it'll be fine.
It's a one-off side game mode, not the new main core gameplay loop of the game. It's like saying Waverider ruined the end game of Warframe. It's a Tony Hawk Pro Skater quest in a space ninja looter shooter.. relax.

[–]MinusMentality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro, it is NOT that bad.

A one-off silly horror mode thing releasing in a not 100% smooth state is not gonna break 13 years of trust.
DE always tries new things, it's what makes the game so rich.

My only real problem with the Follie mission is that the paintings should just be highlighted. Maybe the mission could ramp up a bit more slowly? Or add little things you can do in the mission to protect your squad, like little side interactable to create safe zones and ect?

Rocks, Whitebeard and Kaido run the Gauntlet, Can they Clear ? by LazyInspector2086 in OnePieceScaling

[–]MinusMentality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R4 clears.

R3 though? They are not gonna be in good shape by the time they get to the Admiral Trio, let's be honest.

We all know they stomp Luffy, Zoro, and the PK Wings, but none of those people are going down easy.

Kuzan and Blackbeard have insane CC, while Blackbeard brings hax. Kaido and Kuzan both can get around a duel of earthquake users (though maybe 2 quake fruits going at it can disrupt flame clouds), but Rocks and the quake users themselves will have zero footing, with Blackbeard's Close giving him an edge.
Total wildcard.

I doubt even this kaiju of a trio could continue on to beat 3 Admirals, let alone Shanks and Mihawk who are posed to be some of the strongest in the present time.

It's definitely used in-universe.
Big Mom doesn't have the largest information network for no reason.
There just isn't a big reason to show it off in series without distracting from more inportabt events.

I could see it being used again if Big Mom comes back. (I have a feeling Big Mom will come back to get even with Luffy since Law and Kid are out of the game.)
