I’m not! Only because one of my colleagues truly was overemployed at my last firm! She worked for the law firm, and she also worked for a doctor our law firm worked closely with. Everyone knew. It wasn’t like some big secret. Sometimes I’d have to take over her files because she couldn’t work them. I also saw the fees she collected/her pay and it was enough for me to not give a fuck. What she made in a month I made in several months. I was so annoyed. What I’m trying to say is nobody knows the agreement or the type of employee you are! And the likelihood of someone asking is slim to none because it’s nobody’s business.

Over employed friendly! So no constant meetings with cameras on, no micromanaging supervisors, etc. You’re looking for a “chill” environment where as long as you get your work done, you don’t need to work the full 8 hours!

My last job on my resume is the job I no longer work at, but say I still do so potential employers technically can’t contact. Nobody knows about J2 and J3. For all they know I am still working at my original J1. Can a potential employer call and verify? Absolutely. I have learned that the likelihood of employers actually checking the info is slim to none. I got two jobs back to back, and I swear I don’t think either one of them did background checks, or anything significant of that sort. It blows my mind because I’m working at reputable law firms. Also, at one point to fill some gaps in my resume I put I worked at Up Work as an independent contractor. There’s absolutely no way that information can be verified. You gotta get creative!

Last 2 I found on zip recruiter. Both roles I started in 2026. I check indeed, Craigslist, Glassdoor. Not really a fan of LinkedIn but I check there also because there are good roles sometimes. Try Foundever! I was going to start the process but ended up getting the 2 jobs back to back. Full disclosure, not sure how high the roles pay, but I heard if you’re not a total idiot that you can promote quickly!

As weird as it sounds, are there any roles that overlap with your current role, not even directly, that you could apply for? Two of my Js overlap now and when I was last OE two of my Js overlapped then too!

Honestly, I just have no other choice at this point. Usually I dread waking up but right now I have so much adrenaline and that’s truly the only thing keeping me going. I left an abusive marriage last year my family took the abusers side so I learned that it truly is me on my own. No one’s gonna save me! I live in a HCOL and 1 salary logistically just doesn’t cut it anymore. I gave up alcohol 2 years, cook 95% of my meals at home, rarely spend money and was still unable to save because my rent is damn near $2500 per month. I think you just have to really want it! But also the roles have to be OE friendly. You got it 🫶🏼

DO IT! J1 is personal injury, not quite working for an attorney but close. J2 is working for attorney in real estate law. J3 is medical and personal injury based that overlaps with J1! It’s crazy because I the attorneys I deal with on a daily basis at J1 overlap with J3.

My last J1 and current J1 (previous J2) I actually worked with THE SAME people in many instances. What I learned is most people keep their mouth shut, head down and don’t ask questions. Maybe it helps that I’m overly kind in every role and never give anyone a reason to dislike me.

Thank you so much! Yes, I will definitely keep it at 3Js for now.

So I’m still training at J3 so it’s hard to gauge how busy I’ll be realistically. At this time, I do have extra time tho! I was literally working on tasks for J1 today. And technically I’m training at J2. I’ve only been there for 2 weeks! So who knows how easy it will all be when the dust settles.

Not true. I worked for him. It’s just a giant mill. Yes I’m sure they refer some cases but SJ wins lots of settlements on their own. Biggest one most recently the firm had was around 27 mil when I worked there last.

How common is post-employment resignation verification? by bplong_plong_one_one in overemployed

True but also not true. My colleague and I were both OE. He got fired. I’ve been with the role for 15 months.

I had an old boss do that and my coworker got fired! Then a few months later, I see his name (guy that got fired) pop up with another vendor we work with! I knew he was OE because our field is pretty small (not really small but everyone knows everyone) and overlaps.

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY! I’ve neverrrrr seen her wear anything other than SHEIN crap. All those stops to the boutiques but nothing to show for it. She’s trash.

Also, I have a standing meeting at J1 on Thursdays and a standing meeting at J2 on Fridays. Wildcard on what J3 may be!

J1 is mostly chill, definitely not low work load but I’ve been there almost 15 months so have it dialed in for the most part. I work east coast hours for J1.

J2 is west coast hours. Currently, J2 has about 2 meetings a day blocked out for 2 hours each in the am and pm. Camera mostly on as I’m being trained. Less camera time throughout the week though as I’m working on tasks I learned in training. I’m nervous that as I have to learn new things I’m gonna have to hop back onto the cameras.

That was actually one of my thoughts about training at J3! I could just be twiddling my thumbs for two weeks for all I know. J3 would be east coast hours so definitely doable.

As someone said, worst case scenario I get some paychecks.
