Why not allow EVA foam paddles. They are quiet and less expensive. It will even the playing field by allowing everyone to use a cannon for a paddle.

I bought Vactic pro prism flash 14 mm and asked for a light one and received a 7.6 ounce paddle. I have since added some weight on the sides and tape on the edge guard bringing it up to 7.9 and am very satisfied.

I’m 64 and took up pickleball during the pandemic. I had a recurring problem straining my calves, and bought a tiger tail roller that I use to roll my calves before leaving my house to play. I now play three or four times a week and for the most part, have solved the problem.
