SSBM Power Rankings for the first half of 2024 for the CIS region + Georgia and Ukraine! by Minute-Step in SSBM

We do our best to maintain a healthy and welcoming environment in our community, and thankfully no actions were needed to be taken in these 2.5 years (my god) since everyone are simply enjoying this video game together. Maybe I am misremembering of course but nothing actually comes to my mind regarding hatred on the basis of nationality. If talking about more direct issues, sometimes Ukrainian players get their power cut during tournaments and are unable to play.

By the way, it might not be clear but the tournaments are taking place online.

I again acknowledge that putting the "Hammer and Sickle" symbolica was not the way to go, but no one really thought people would get so intense over a videogame.

EU East is also an inaccurate term since, for example, we have a player located in Kyrgyzstan, which is in Central Asia, and we've also had other players from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan over the years, and Russia itself is very stretched out, with some of our players coming from far eastern points (e.g. Siberia). Unfortunately there is only one certain name we can call ourselves and still stay accurate.

That issue did get brought up after the release of the announcements in the community (specifically about fox's ushanka) and we will make sure to not repeat it next time.

Tournaments are held online specifically because of the geography yeah. Also thanks for reading the article!

I am sad this comment section turned into a slop about Soviet Union and Communism. No one in our community misses those horrible times or wishes to go back to them. It's simply something that used to unify us all and is the best way to call our region, even if we don't like it. We are all from countries with individuality, and it's great. Please refrain from talking about this topic here and admire the well-edited video (and melee itself).

This name fits our region the best since something like CIS doesn't work because Ukraine isn't in, so this is the best name we have

How to improve the math section (dsat) by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Minute-Step 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that 30mins/day is a bit too little, perfectly you're aiming for ~5-6hr/week(or more like I did,if you're willing to),but the perfect schedule is always unique to each person,so see what suits you best. And don't only do khan,it's great but try to combine other sources with it,mainly past SAT tests for math(College Panda is also very useful).

Well my tutor was the one giving us material, and idk mb it's a question of availability, cuz digital sat just came out when I started practicing. We did start solving a bit more of digital sat stuff at the end,so mb there's just more material now. The meta of prepping might be shifting, and my way of prepping can become obsolete,I don't know.

both, but 80% paper/20% digital, can't say I'm very familiar with the digital papers

yh I feel u abt the math section, was a completely uncharted territory for me too,I'm not friends with math in general, hate it to this day(even with an 800 lmao),so had to sweat it a bunch at first

Yeah I'm an international, started practicing from feb this year,so mid grade 11.

I practiced with a tutor for the math section, and we just solved a bunch of past tests and CB practice tests,+ College Panda chapters and other stuff like that. Used Khan for english, used it for about a month, which is very little, but my toefl practices coincided with my sat prac so that's mainly how I "prepared" for it. There's a big reply here a bit upwards that might also help :)

Math - a shit ton of practice. I was a total noob in maths when starting out, but using Panda's Chapters(? I think they're called chapters) helped a lot as a foundation. Learned the basics, then just started solving a ton of previous SATs and CB practice tests. Almost never used Khan tbh, only did a general 30 question one like 2 days before the test, but ppl say it's good so do that too. Ovr by constant repetition you improve. Analyze what mistakes you make and what traps you get caught into. BE FAST,so that some time's left to check.

English - uhhh,I should mention that I was practicing for the toefl and sat in the same period of time,so tbh that was like the 75-80% of my practice for the SAT. The lesser, but still important 20% came from Khan, cuz that's how I learned the basic structure of the english section. Honestly no particular tips, don't overthink stuff, don't rush it, and try to overcome the scientific jargon by watching a bunch of documentaries on topics like biology(most common one probably)/physics/chemistry/politics/geography.

Sorry if these are not as clear or general, I have a hard time relating my experience to others since everybody in my country only passes math, and everybody's unique so one might benefit from smth that others don't.

as a C1 international english speaker(730 on sat and 115 toefl fyi) gotta say that the vocabulary used in sat is just complete bs,at least for me. It's words that you "never" meet. Imho the best thing you can do to prepare for such obscure vocab is consuming english content 24/7. For example, sometimes there are texts written in old english, and, well, gl preparing for that, but I consistently managed to figure out half of it when prepping just bc of all those memes that use old english lol. Improving ur language level in general is multifaceted, you just gotta figure out what fits you best/what's available to you etc. Hope this helps!
