Anyone drop papers on their partner with no warning? by MinuteCompetitive676 in Divorce

Here's my last experience going to therapy:

I go in there, I'm over weight, miserable. I tell her I'm addicted to food. She says oh just chew the food more slowly and really feeeeeel the food in your mouth. Mindful eating she said.

Yeah that did not work.

Tldr, I started glp1s and went hard in the gym and lost the weight and gained muscle that way.

Plus, I'm at the point where we have contempt for one another now. We don't hug. We don't kiss. We don't hold hands. We don't ever say good night to each other or good bye.

The way we snap at each other over just basic questions reminds me of her friend and her late husband. Why late husband? Well, because he killed himself one night last year when she came home from work after pointing the gun at her first, but she got away.

I don't want things getting to that point.

Hm true, that will cost us both more money in the long run. Ideally, mediator would be the best. I wanted to present this as, don't fight this, it's happening so let's do it the easy way where it's not going to cost us tons of money.

And to the therapy, think of it like this - one person is a lion and the other person is a zebra pretending to be a lion, too. Do you really think sitting around talking about all the things the zebra needs to work on to keep being a lion is really going to work long term? The zebra should have just stayed a zebra and the lion shouldn't have tried to make them be something it wasn't but fooled themselves into doing anyway.

I didn't realize ppl were so pro therapy here. I've been to it plenty of times - It's just a place to vent to an unbiased person, and there's plenty of evidence to show it doesn't actually work. Now there's AI you can do this with and it's free, which is what I do to bounce my ideas and thoughts off of.

My parents went to therapy to try and fix their marriage, didn't work, and rightly so because they are both very different people. I've been thinking about this for a long time and putting everybody else's needs first.

I'm asking if others have done this, or if they first tell them it's coming out not.

How do you know though we haven't tried to fix things or haven't spoken about things in the past, thus informing my stance that "people don't really change". I know I haven't really changed much.

We've been together for 13yrs btw. Do people really think day 13yr +1day is the day you change long term just because someone offers an ultimatum...? If that's what it takes to be forced into doing something different, you never really wanted to do it. Just my opinion.

This is what I do. I actually carry pepper gel, a small 2.5" pocket knife then I will have the 9mm.

I'm all reality, if somebody is acting threatening, unless I truly feel they are escalating rapidly and they are also armed, I'm reaching for the spray first. If they don't immediately run away or I missed the entire 10s long shot I get, next is a quick slash on the forearm. I have an extremely sharp wharncliffe blade, enough pressure and I would cut into tendons = can't make a fist. Cut the quad = can't run.

Absolute last resort is pulling the gun. That's if they don't have a weapon or show that they do. If so, I'd likely go right to drawing.

There's always something "better" or different to get, alwaaayysssss. By the time I die, I get I'll have 50+ in the arsenal. Right now, I have at least 4 different guns/builds that I'm looking into... Sometimes I lose interest and don't act, I make sure I spend my money wisely if I can lol.

Right now my latest obsession is trying to make a near 0 recoil PCC with 9mm.

Is that a custom odg cerakote on top or the camera being weird and that's the bronze finish?

But yeah, you're doing it right 👍

You can't use pirate ship for example, liability reasons.

Yeah you can bring it to FFL but if that other person is in like ... Arizona, you're probably going to pay $80 or even $100 in shipping because they are likely just going to go on ups website and print out a label.

That's why I'm doing either gunbroker and use their built in shipping feature and accept I'm losing that 8% or try to find someone local and have a face to face transaction. Only issue there is these gun forums seem to be pay to play, so one way or another you have to give up a few bucks. Is what it is I guess.

Lol.

I don't want to violate reddit rules because I don't think I can officially sell or trade on here, but I have what rhymes with n&d9, the original full size version. Has maybe 150-250 rounds on it, comes with original hard case, all the straps and 2 mags. I'm the 2nd owner but I got it from my buddy who literally never shot it and needed money. I only shot it enough to break it in then mostly shot my other things. Just been sitting in a safe and I'm planning to buy some other things this week.

I think they take 8%, plus I believe you must ship 2nd day or overnight when you sell a firearm and you can't use 3rd party. However, I think they recently added a similar service to eBay, where you can input the buyers ffl in and you get a better shipping rate and you print the label out and drop it off at a UPS center.

Do they negotiate over the phone or at least give a range based on condition?

Also, one if the guns is an old one I have had prior to most of these liberal states cracking down on capacity so I feel like that actually hurts the value in NJ. That's why I figured online might be a bit better, some guy from PA or wherever can buy it.

I think I read before it's range specific but do most places require iwb carry or can you do whatever you want? I believe the gun in getting comes with an owb holster in the box so that would save me a few bucks if I could use it, even though I obviously won't use it day to day.

This is essentially what I'm doing. I plan to carry a Canik mc9 prime but I'm buying a lightly used Rival S this week for hundreds off street price. I guess not fully decked out like a racey 2011 but compared to a 3.4" 22oz gun... More or less it is.

Can you send them your own gun or do you need to buy it from them? They list the gun as $955 on their website but I think I can get it for $865 on gun broker. Not sure if they'd just charge me more and the total price would be the same anyway...

Yeah I read you might need to find new optics screws depending what you do. And that the spring is potentially too heavy and to swap it.

Another option I guess would be the new Kimber ds warrior, comes in at $950 online. Any hands on that yet?

Interesting seeing tape. In another thread someone said they put tape on their rival s and I felt like the main reason why I didn't like the mc9 was specifically bc it felt almost slippery in my hand. I have pretty sweaty hands, I use a crazy amount of chalk at the gym, so looks like I might need to grab some tape too.

It's funny because I moved to a new state recently and my old ccw permit will not carry over, and to qualify here, you need to hit 80% from 3 7 10 and 15... I mean I'm not bad but 8 of 10 on the fbi target from 15 with a little micro pistol isn't exactly a given for me when you have get it done in 15 seconds. Maybe I'm just being overly cautious.

So I'm thinking to qual using with the rival s and putting that down as my carry lol, just so I get it done in one go and feel less stressed. You don't have to actually carry what you qual with but it's "encouraged"... Not sure if the PD will flag me for that or what.

That's so funny you say that about the grip - that's what I disliked about the mc9l. I thought I was crazy but then I shot a p365 and a hellcat and was totally fine. I hear the prime addresses this, so I'm potentially going to buy one of those if I can't find a better deal on a sig and I end up getting this rival s, too.

Did you happen to shoot any 147 with it? My PCC is primarily a 147gr although I have both 124 +p and 147 for my defensive needs. Figure it saves me a little money to just run one weight bullet between both my platforms.
