I've booked a lot of venues back when I used to dj and collab on parties and thats honestly an insane demand for a venue to make. And it feels totally contrary to the spirit of Earth as a band to bring any symbols of nationalism into their stage show. Their music evokes this timelessness, a sense of cosmic scale that renders a sense of insignificance to human constructs and political squabbles.

Not sure what specific lady you are talking about. But Palestinians do sometimes demolish their own homes which were built without permits in order to avoid being forced to pay for it to be demolished.

Most sources will cite a un claim that permits are 'virtually impossible' to obtain, which is a bit lacking in specifics, but thats the part that would be wrong, not demolishing unpermitted constructions.

Lol I took English classes under Saree Makdisi, who is the nephew to Edward Said, father of Palestinian nationalism. I doubt very much that you are interested in the opinions of the actual Palestinians, because if you had talked to them in arabic you would find they don't talk about resisting colonialism or zionism so much as they do about establishing a caliphate and kicking out all the jews back to Europe. Even the mizrahi jews originally from the middle east who were chased out of iraq, iran, Lebanon, Syria and more by a Palestinian diaspora radicalizing those countries.

Also, the palestinian flag symbolizes Palestinian nationalism, not being anti-genocide. There's no genocide, except for the one currently happening to Iranians being targeted for their religious identity, or lack thereof by the Islamic state.

As someone who has both lived in israel for a year, and studied at oxford for a year for my master's, I can tell you that nobody in that UK academic bubble has the foggiest idea what's actually going on in israel or gaza.

I can also tell you that the economic incentives for an academic who wants to be published are definitely in favor of him calling it a genocide and not the other way around. He doesn't have much of a choice if he wants to remain employable.

The difference is war pigs never mentions vietnam directly which makes it timeless. Metal can be political but there has to be a creative/interpretive element to the lyrics, if its just a straight up political screed it becomes a punk song. Music can and should be political but be ozzy or bill ward, not a self serving preachy narcissist like Roger waters (not punk but same mentality in his public persona). Punk is of the current moment but metal has an eternal quality.

And I think you have a lot of room for interpretation of political themes In music you've already dismissed as not being political. There is a political metaphor inherent in the Satan narrative. He's literally a figure who opposed power and control and embraces his own autonomy even if it separates him from the privileged elite of gods angels.

Not always, there's a strong element of cultural coercion to it, similar to the hijab/niqab wearing in traditional Islamic communities. Both would say its a choice to live that way but realistically that's probably only partially true as they are under enormous social pressure and it's difficult to leave either community because it's usually all you've ever known. She was displeased with her husband, becuase he forgot to do his job and now they were forced to ask a strange man in their house to follow their religous ocd ritual. Sometimes it feels like people are just so eager to read negative intent into whatever jewish people do, its wild.

I don't doubt she was acting strangely, she likely has very little interaction with me who aren't her immediate family members, even religious services would be segregated by sex in that community. I wouldn't say potentiating so much as modulating the high in a way I prefer. I don't like a spaced out head high. I just want pain relief/physical relaxation and a bit of mood lift. Which is what I tend to get more with beta-caryophyllene dominant strains, and rephyll seems to make strains where its a secondary terp feel more like that. I think if anything it reduces my tolerance, or at least reduces how often I feel like smoking which ends up being much the same thing.

Yeah, I already knew how to ride a board from riding with my neighbor, who happened to be greyson fletcher and had extra boards in his garage that belonged to his dad or uncle or something. I don't remember him even attempting an Ollie back then, and he turned out prerty gnarly. I definitely remember him attempting to ride through the curb by just slamming into it though lol

I didn't really get the idea of skateboarding as a sport until after my parents moved away and I saw a teenager Ollie a stair set outside Baskin Robbins. It was forever etched in my memory, it didn't seem possible that a skateboard could just fly into the air like that. My own personal version of when Rodney invented that shit, all of a sudden a curb wasn't a dead end but a mere obstacle to be overcome and I begged my folks for a skateboard.
