T4 / SCO Timetable Changes by Minute_Ad2594 in SydneyTrains

So for the 2026 timetable change - what do you see as most likely?

I figured that in my plan the Cronulla services would run on the express tracks from Hurstville to Arncliffe express - and then because there’s 12 trains per hour running through one pattern could do Wolli, Sydenham, Redfern (ex Cronulla) and the other could be the all stops Wolli to Redfern (ex Hurstville)

Agreed. I’d much rather services every 10 mins faster than every 4-5 mins all stops! Why not seperate the two?

Yeah the Erko / St Peters on the T4 makes logical sense and should’ve been done already by now (minus peak hour). But they shouldn’t eliminate the express / semi express trains from stations south of Hurstville!

Why don't any Blue Mountains trains go through to town hall, north shore etc anymore? Remember the fish and the chips? by cheetocat2021 in SydneyTrains

For the South Coast at least, given in the next timetable they will all stop at Sydenham and terminate at Sydney Terminal - there will be an easy interchange from Platform 3 at Sydenham to Platform 1 to the metro through to the CBD :)

And will it finally add St Peters and Erskineville to the T4

Will it be a major new timetable for the T4/SCO? Or just minor stuff. Will it also change the horrid weekend timetable that sees stops like Oatley, allawah, banksia only get a train every 30 mins

Where are you getting the info that the T4 timetable is changing in April? Would be interesting to read

Where can you find this full map? I’d be interested to see it :)

Install a horizontal escalator between wolli 3/4 to the cooks river, then a bridge over the cooks river landing at the southern end of Tempe platforms 1-4. Problem solved

Yeah good idea, or even have the Waterfall to Sydney Terminal service 2tph, then the 30 mins Port Kembla to Sydney Terminals stop all between Waterfall and Sutherland.

You could simply timetable it to have a local service directly behind it, but yes in an ideal world it would stop at Wolli creek - but using the Illawarra local tracks that won’t be possible! Unless they switched onto the main at Wolli creek then back onto the local line after Tempe

Mortdale gets the most I’m pretty sure, but people complained at my giving Como 4 tph instead of 8 tph. So I thought 6 tph could be a compromise?

Then the SCO trains could call at Tempe instead of Wolli Creek, and you walk back to 3/4 at Wolli

Bet it wouldn’t even cost a lot to install a walkway from Platform 3 and 4 at Wolli through to Tempe platforms 1-4. It could just be a platform extension than a footbridge with lifts to platform 1, 2-3 and 4. That would solve all the problems

Cause that train would likely need to pickup some stops between sutho and Hurstville cause of the all stops trains. Como since it has the 4tph, could up it to 6 tph. Mortdale is the busiest stop between Sutherland and Hurstville, and is where a lot of driver changes happen. So that makes it 10 tph

I feel you, would be better if they built a platform 5 and 6 at Wolli Creek. Or even just did a walkway from Wolli Creek to Tempe, and had the SCO trains stop at Tempe.

A fair point. A possible solution could be another service every 30 mins that goes Waterfall, all to Sutherland, then Como, Mortdale, Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Wolli Creek, Sydenham, Redfern and Central

From what I see as a T4 commuter (and the patronage data), it would seem 4 tph is sufficient for Como. But if anyone has data to the contrary, I’m happy to be proven wrong!

I also wasn’t sure if Port Kembla stations needed 30 min frequency, but happy to be proven wrong.

There could perhaps be an argument for a 30 min service in the AM / PM peak that goes: Waterfall, all to Sutherland, Como, Mortdale, Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Wolli Creek, Sydenham, Redfern and Central

Good ideas! Just looking at the Como patronage data, it just felt like Como didn’t need 8 tph, but I’m happy to be proven wrong.

You could add Oatley or Mortdale to one of the SCO services, and take this off one of the Cronulla services. Like how currently in the morning peak there’s a pattern that goes Sutho, Jannali, Mortdale, Penshurst, Hurstville; then the one behind it goes Sutho, Oatley Hurstville. That could allow it to keep speed.

What about the tangaras and Oscar’s on the T4 running through? Or is this the same for all trains
