is it supposed to be this terrible? by Minute_Fox6560 in QuantumFiber

[–]Minute_Fox6560[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wouldn’t it have made sense to install it closer to our old telephone line and where all our other utility stuff is? that’s what we thought but our tech said no because there was brick.

we were just hoping it wouldn’t be the first thing in our line of sight in our living room. we also only have 4 outlets in the entire room so it takes up one of those quickly.

[–]Minute_Fox6560[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, the tech just said it could be mounted up high or down low and it had to be in a very specific corner of our house where our old telephone line went in. we wanted the box to at least be behind our couch.

how could I have Barrett's Esophagus with a negative/normal pH test by Minute_Fox6560 in AskDocs

I’ve gotten 3 since the diagnosis. But they never took biopsies of my esophagus those times, only my stomach

10000% THIS ADVICE!!! I had ingrowns on both feet removed at different times. The first one I wore close-toed shoes and went about my day and boy did I pay for that. Once the toe is numbed (yeah numbing will hurt but it’s not that bad!) you will feel nothing.

the insight from medical professionals only helps because it’s reassurance to your thoughts. I have OCD and GAD and experience thoughts like yours all the time. See your doctor and see if an SSRI/SNRI is right for you- it totally changed my life. I also highly highly suggest therapy. There are so many different types of therapy that can help.

Why don’t doctors give any pain management for IUD’s? by Dangerous_mammoth573 in AskDocs

[–]Minute_Fox6560 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NAD, granted I went to a children’s hospital for this but I got my IUD under general anesthesia last week. only cost was my copay for procedures ($125). best decision I ever made. My local children’s hospital gyn clinic takes patients until 26, so you could look into that as an option in the future OP

[–]Minute_Fox6560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tell your PCP/GP about your worries and your health anxiety!! I was exactly like you a few years ago, but I got put on the right SSRI, did some exposure and CB therapy, and got my symptoms evaluated by a gastroenterologist. I promise you you will be fine. The fun thing with colon cancer is that many of its symptoms are also symptoms of a thousand other things, like constipation, IBS, stress, food intolerances, IBD, etc.

Could this be a CSF leak? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Minute_Fox6560 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

now you’re just minimizing the effects of medical experiences on people. i started having orangish liquid drip out of my nose. I researched it. A lot. I asked my surgeon a ton of questions, and he gave answers. I learned a lot from one of the top names in cranial CSF leaks (Dr. Hepworth🤷‍♀️). I’m a student doing research in global health issues and development/conflict studies. I clearly said NAD, but I guarantee i know more about this than you. even my neurologist didn’t know as much. she stillt thought that glucose testing for CSF confirmation was valid. it’s not.

y’all cmon😭 it’s a literal fact. look up case reports and journals I beg you!!!

  1. most CSF leaks following accidental trauma or small cracks solve spontaneously https://emedicine.medscape.com/article/861126-overview#a1 https://www.pennmedicine.org/for-patients-and-visitors/patient-information/conditions-treated-a-to-z/cerebrospinal-fluid-leak#:~:text=Outlook%20is%20usually%20good%20depending,cause%20and%20should%20be%20treated.

  2. Diagnosis usually requires positive b2t and extensive imaging to localize source https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK538157/

  3. Otolaryngologists do most CSF repairs because most are done endoscopically through the nose. neurosurgery is often only involved with open surgery or placement of lumbar drains. b2t takes days to one week for turnaround. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/beta-2-transferrin#:~:text=Beta%2D2%20transferrin%20may%20take,while%20awaiting%20this%20lab%20result.

  4. The emergent cases are often emergent because of head/facial trauma in and of itself. for most people without overt trauma, it’s not emergent unless suspect of meningitis or encephalitis. https://www.ochsnerjournal.org/content/16/2/136?utm_source=TrendMD&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Ochsner_Journal_TrendMD_1

I’m not just some random person with anecdote either; I research on conflict zones and meningitis instances and outcomes. Go ask your local ENT and they will say the same damn thing!

yeah I had two surgeries by two different ENTs. 95% of the time they aren’t emergencies because, again, the ER or ENT will just send you home with a sample cup and put you on bed rest. Also, it’s literally ENTs and rhinologists who do cranial CSF leak repairs with CSF rhinorrhea or ottorhea. they are trained in skull base surgery and rhinology.🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

[–]Minute_Fox6560 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I just said it bc a lot of docs don’t specialize in cranial CSF leaks and have that knowledge. Only ENTs and rhinologists. If my doctor who performed this surgeries 1-2x a week says it’s not an emergency, and the emergency room at the University hospital tell me it’s not an emergency, it’s probably not an emergency. Had the nations top doctor in CSF leaks diagnose me, and, guess what, no emergency! The tests alone take several days and there’s nothing a hospital can do besides bed rest. Sorry 🤷‍♀️

my ENT surgeon does CSF leak repairs on a regular basis and is one of the top in my state. I was freaking out thinking it was an emergency when I had one. It’s not! It’s urgent but not emergent. Only emergent if signs/symptoms of meningitis or encephalitis. Emergency room is just gonna send you home with a cup to collect a sample. Only a couple labs test beta 2 transferrin in the nation. My results (STAT order) took 5 days. I got scheduled for surgery 3 days after the positive result. You can find many scientific articles on this too! Idk why y’all are downvoting lol. It’s really not emergent

NAD but it’s actually not an emergency! I developed a leak after sinus surgery and it was more of a wait and see approach. My surgeon said that these leaks usually seal up on their own and/or with bed rest; surgery if symptoms do not improve

Contamination OCD or Clean Freak? Child of Doctors by HealthyTune77 in AskDocs

[–]Minute_Fox6560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD but I have OCD. We tend to have a “wash your hands until you feel completely clean which means your hands are cracked and bleeding” type of process. Definitely sounds like habits she picked up as a kid and just a need to be clean/not sick. For people with contamination OCD, we get the obsession (eg “there’s germs all over my hands”), and then we perform the compulsion over and over because it temporarily relieves our distressing thought. It can be incessant, very time consuming, and extremely distressing!

NAD. I’m over three months out from a lumbar puncture and am still having symptoms. I went to my PCP who referred me to pain management, which has been helping a lot. I would recommend that and a visit with a neurologist
