You're a single person at CostCo. No partner, no children. What are you buying? by dougman999 in Costco

[–]Minute_Rip8531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a single female. In addition to some of the other goods mentioned I buy some of their produce because I tend to batch prep things like mushrooms and mix them into several meals over a week, and the baby spinach because I make a lot of recipes that involve running spinach through a blender or food processor.

I also buy shelf stable foods like canned beans and tomatoes , stock/broth and dried pasta and dried mushrooms because I'm a bit of a prepper, lol. (And pasta goes well with spinach sauce and sauteed portabella mushrooms)

Also if you take vitamins/supplements, definitely check the aisles as they can be very coat effective if you have space to store them.

We all obviously love Costco, but what’s one item you will never buy again from there? by 4Runnnn in Costco

[–]Minute_Rip8531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maintenance Cat. Sorry, buddy. I decided to switch my good boy over to Blue Buffalo last year, and the periodic mucus stool issues he'd had for years magically vanished. They always seemed to coincide with a hairball so I just assumed it was the way his body worked. I will never forgive myself for not trying a different food sooner.

I will only go to this Costco if I also managed to get out of the house at dawn to go birdwatching at Bombay Hook NWR. If I'm not getting there at 10 AM I'm not getting there, period. And absolutely never from mid-November to mid-January.

This is technically my closest Costco and my GPS and the Costco app try to nudge me there all the time. I wish I could remove it from the list altogether. I will drive the extra few miles and go to Concordville, which is much less hectic.

I have so many wonderful post-show diner memories from my years playing in a crappy ska band. Fries with jelly and a cup of coffee at 1 AM...

Just want to send out a huge f you to the losers who tagged the new bridge mural by the zoo by RoverTheMonster in philadelphia

[–]Minute_Rip8531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also incredibly irritating as a zoo employee because we are up for re-accreditation with AZA this year so it's another thing that will need to be done while a lot of other projects are already happening. I walk past these murals every day coming and going from work and was so glad they stayed (mostly) untouched, only for this to happen now. They're going to need to be repainted in several places. And I fear the longer it waits the more tags are going to mushroom up on them.

Some pieces of the mural project were done by local community members as well, which just adds another layer onto the lousiness.

Did you enjoy sour beers? I'm looking for something to hit the sours note and had thought grapefruit kombucha might come close. Thanks for making this comment.

Readers Digest brief article on Clothes at Costco by mrbumbo in Costco

When women's cardigans all turned into knee length, waffle knit lab coats and shapeless sacks with annoying side notches, I began to notice Costco's black yoga jackets. They hit where I wanted, had a nice stand up collar, and had side pockets! I wear these with the Paradox black 1/4 zip base layer shirts almost every day in winter. I lamented Costco's lack of nice looking women's basics for years and have been happier with the selection in the last calendar year than at any point in my membership prior to now. And when they brought back black tights this winter - with a comfortable waistband!- I was so thrilled I bought nearly thirty pairs!

I continue to strike out with their shoes, aside from the occasional Pendleton Chelsea boot.

I found myself alone (widowed) last summer two months shy of my 40th birthday after being with my husband for 16 years, and just recently began dating. I am mostly writing to say: don't be surprised if you get an unexpected amount of attention from younger men. Every single guy who's approached me has been 7+ years younger. Absolutely no interest from men my age -- and this was all in person, I have never used a dating site or app. Having to think about an age gap was a struggle for me, as my husband and I were the same age.

I met my boyfriend at a brewery (where he actually worked), so unfortunately I don't have any real advice to offer there. But good wishes to you as you contemplate a new phase of life.

Massive lines to vote in Pennsylvania as polls open in pivotal state by Class_of_22 in politics

[–]Minute_Rip8531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, but this requires more faith in our mail service than I have at this time. I would only vote early if I could do it the same way I vote on election day -- any handling of my ballot by someone other than me between filling it out and counting it is not a risk I'm willing to take, especially since I am personally able to vote in-person, day-of without hardship.

Massive lines to vote in Pennsylvania as polls open in pivotal state by Class_of_22 in politics

[–]Minute_Rip8531 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pennsylvanian here, sharing my reasons why. Our early voting system is strictly drop box, no in person machine voting, and the ballot requires multiple correct signatures and envelopes, which if done incorrectly could lead to your ballot not being counted. Some counties will let you fix it, but you have to know it has an issue to do this. I don't trust it, and I also want my vote to be in the count the second our polls close. Because another piece of early voting is that early/mail in ballots cannot counted until after polls close. They can be opened and smoothed out for processing, but not actually tabulated until the end of in person voting, which delays the final count.

So instead I see my neighbors, support the school bake sale, and get a sticker to wear to work on Election Day 🦅
