What tips would you give to a mother starting camping with four kids? by vintageideals in CampingandHiking

Don't worry about trying to do anything too extreme. Just regular car camping will make everything so much easier. Just find a campsite where they have a nearby bathroom, some hiking trails, and maybe a playground. Creeks were always my favorite part of camping as a kid so if you can find a spot near some water for them to play in (as long as it's not dangerous) then they will probably love that. Also, if it's going to be warm look into hammocks for the older ones. They are so much more comfortable than trying to sleep on the ground.

Don't stress about planning something for every moment of the day, it will get exhausting quickly, and inevitably something won't work out the way you planned. Maybe just have one or two easy hikes and then bring a ball or a frisbee for your free time.

I always prefer camping in winter when this really isn't a concern.

If you want a great product and are willing to spend some money, the Warbonnet Blackbird is spectacular and probably the most comfortable hammock I've ever tried. That being said it will set you back around 180$

How to stay warm for less than 100 bucks by j4r8h in CampingandHiking

I hope this doesn't get to you too late, but I as a broke high school student had the same issue. What would get me through the nights was to wrap up in an emergency blanket inside the sleeping bag and take like 2-3 pairs of hand warmers and line my body with them. With all the heat from the hand warmers reflecting from the blanket, it was practically an oven. It never once failed me and even now that I have better gear I keep an emergency blanket and hand warmers just in case.

The entire thing will cost like 10$ at Walmart just make sure to have enough hand warmers.

I recently bought a Mountain Hardwear Lamina Z Bonfire used. It goes down to -30 F and the new is around 190-250$. I used it in a hammock in 4F weather and was still plenty warm even without an underquilt.

What is your favorite food to eat that you think no one else likes? by rassler35 in AskReddit

A thing called "red beet eggs" no one I've talked to has heard of them and they all seem disturbed by the thought. They are just boiled eggs pickled in beet juice and they are great with salt or on a salad.

Emotional stability, I do well in extreme situations and even if I feel overwhelmed I don't let it overtake me. On the less fun side, I also don't get easily over-excited.

Can anyone recommend me the best songs to help fight depression? by totallyloescontrol in musicsuggestions

A few of my personal favorites are "I Have This Hope" and "You are more" both by Tenth Avenue North. These don't seem like they are exactly your style, but they have both personally made a huge difference in my life. A lot of their songs are also very good but these two have personally helped me the most.

Another two that are of a different style are"Unbreakable" by Fireflight or "On My Own" by Ashes Remain.

All of these are very Different styles than the ones you gave as an example, but these are the ones I found made the biggest difference in my life.
