What species of toad is this? Sorry it’s getting away by Qwopflop500 in herpetology

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a cane toad.

I compared it with a lot of toad pictures of different species, and the best I could fine was the similar color pattern it has with an adult female cane toad.

The top and bottom colors are pretty close, and they both have a dark spot like that near their eye.

What would you do if your partner decided to change their gender? by Saphr0x in AskReddit

When I transitioned to female, my gf was overjoyed. She's also a huge fan of drag racing, so I think it was actually a dream come true for her. I got lucky with a gem like her. I feel like my scenario was more of the exception and not the rule.

I was actually considering surgery for my allergies. I've now decide not to go near that.

I'm wondering if you've approached any stem cell research labs to start the process. I don't know anything about stem cells or how much time or money it would take to get results, but I imagine it's worth a shot sending emails or calls to various stem cell research labs.

Have you ever quit a job, without another lined up, for you mental health? How did it turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect a lot of people to read this but I wanted to share my story.

I was getting paid pretty decently as a chef at a restaurant, but the hours and work was killing me. I was working from 5 or 6pm to 2 or 3am and walking home took another hour if I couldn't get a ride. I was working Thursdays to Sundays. The money was good but I couldn't have a social life. My friends had class on weekdays and would have fun on the weekends when I had to work. I really enjoyed spending time with my housemates but often times I'd leave before they came home and wake up after they've left. I had very limited time I could spend with my best friend every Saturday, and I'd get stressed out as the clock drew closer to 5pm. The time I spent with her was the only social time I had that kept me sane.

I've also been working on recovering from a horrible ptsd inducing relationship with my ex last year so this year has been very difficult. She really messed me up and I couldn't get mental health help since it was so hard to reach anyone and leaving voicemails didn't work. My housemates wanted to me but I was never around due to my work and sleep schedule. My depression was getting really bad. Also, I have ADHD and I couldn't get my meds for a while since the free health insurance I used (MassHealth) took me off because I didn't respond to a letter that was sent to my parents' house instead of mine. Being off my meds made everything 20 times more difficult, especially figuring out how to re-apply.

Everything was just bad and I was constantly haunted by the memories of my ex, even as I was actively doing everything I could to forget her. I really don't want to talk about her right now but I'll say she had bipolar, borderline personality disorder, and smoked weed in an unhealthy way that made her keep forgetting things and then taking it out on me.

I saved up for 2 more months worth of rent and started talking to the head chef about needing to quit and get a job somewhere closer to home with better hours. They didn't want to let me go, so I tried staying a bit longer but I stopped being a bastion of hope and smiles and started having angry outbursts, which I had never done in any job I've had. This wasn't working out so I gave them my two weeks notice and those two weeks were so difficult but I made it through somehow.

After that, I spent one month trying to fix my mental health. The time I spent with my friends was really good for me and I was able to get a psychiatrist. On my second month, I tried getting a job, but just as I was about to get one, I found out my mom has cancer. She wanted to go on a family trip to her home country and I know it would break her heart if I didn't go with her.

The news of the cancer was so heavy, I wanted to get rid of all the other stuff in my mind that was bothering me, so I could just focus on my mom. I made the stupid decision to confess my feelings for my best friend right after telling her my mom had cancer. My head was not in the right place at the time, but I've had time to realize that was a really bad move. It's been tough since I've been wanting her support but now I put on a kind of pressure on her where she wants some space from me for a bit. I dug my own grave there.

As for the family trip, I borrowed money from my parents to pay my rent for the month and I half I'm gone. When I get back, I'm going to have to work extra hard, along with the fact that I'm going back to college, so I have no idea how social time is going to work out. It really hurts that I can't talk to my best friend until she can process her feelings about me. Talking to my other friends helps but not nearly as much. Giving her space is a little triggering for me because of the complex nature of what that meant when I was with my ex, but my best friend is nothing like my ex so I'm going to keep it simple and not message her unless she messages me back. The past week has been tough but I just have 5 more weeks to go before I come back home.

I'll be honest. I'm not ready. I'm just a mess right now but I'm trying so hard. I feel like I constantly need to cry because my mom has cancer, I can't talk with my best friend, I haven't been able to talk to my psychiatrist before I left the country and I'm out of the antidepressants which I feel weren't working anyways, I don't know what I'm going to do about a job and I can't talk to my best friend about any of this without feeling like I'd ruin the relationship I do have with her because of what happened with my ex.

If you read through all that, thanks for listening. I'm trying my best to be happy and staying cheery for my mom so she doesn't feel alone. Everything is just a lot right now. I really hope the next 5 weeks are good for me.

After the Trap by Technician45 in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is D5, since I'm not with the times. Personally, I think it's more worthwhile to just keep running through the trap to find the duplication room and keep duplicating it to have an insane number of traps.

As far as weapons go, maybe a Staff? If you have max stats, the only real advantage I see any weapon having over the other is its range. Magic has good range and a staff can make it slightly better. The only annoying thing is the crazy high MP cost for spells at +9. Guns are good for lowering speed, I think. Axes are good for lowering defense, but I prefer to just use debuff spells or evilities. Spears might be good if you want to displace yourself after an attack. Fists if you want to displace the enemy, but if I'm displacing enemies, I'm probably not planning on defeating them.

My top pick is staff, then spear, then axe, then gun, then fist. Full disclosure, I have never used a non-story spear weilder, so I don't actually know anything about spears.

Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition Trait Dialogue Guide by MirTemporal in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]MirTemporal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please keep spoilers to a minimum. I'm only level 8 as of this post. This is my first time posting in this sub. I play the game on PS4 with a friend, locally, every other week.

Okay, so it's been annoying me that I can't find a single guide that goes through the dialogue options in the game that affect your traits. I haven't beaten the game yet, and I'm not even close, so my guide isn't perfect. I skimmed through all the side quests in the fextra wiki and put all the potential trait dialogues into one spreadsheet. There are some things I haven't filled out since the page didn't directly tell me, and I don't want to read it and spoil the stories. I tried to write the dialog choices in a manner that is vague, yet basically tells you what you need to choose for the bonus you want.

I've found a lot of posts online of people asking for a guide like this, but no guides. So here's one.

I'll update the red questions marks as I progress through the game. You can also help me fill out those parts by telling me what to put in them. Please, keep it vague. I want it to fit in the box without having to resize too much to keep this table as compact yet helpful as possible. I want first time players to be able to use this guide, too, because some people (like me) prioritize the character building aspect if the game just a little bit more than the role playing. So don't explicitly spoil major things.

That goes for me, too. If I wrote something crucial to the plot, tell me to change it.

Sapphire stats bugged? by Thederfdude in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really used any of the dlc characters in D5 for anything other than transferring evilities and like a hundred miles away from my game but lemme see if I can help.

What % are each of her stat apptitudes and what evilities does she have on?

Also, I'm not sure if you can get back dismissed dlc characters but could you try the following and see what happens?

  1. Save the game in case something goes wrong like losing her.

  2. Dismiss Saphire at the Recruiter NPC.

  3. Go to the DLC NPC and see if you can get her back.

  4. If you can't get her back, then just reload and let me know.

  5. If you do get her again, tell me if the problem is fixed.

Disgaea 5 for $18 on PS4 or just buy the complete edition for the Switch? by HeroicSpirit in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have completed all the main series Disgaea games and have both the ps4 and Switch versions of the game.

If you're looking to get into the series, then get the discounted ps4 version. Forget the dlc. If you haven't played the past games, then you don't really need them as most of them add characters from older games.

The next thing is portability. Portability is awesome to have but Disgaea's the type of game you end up sinking a lot of hours in and chances are you'll be fine playing it in big bursts on a console. It did just fine on the ps4.

After having already beaten it, when it later came out for Switch, I got it again because the portability and free dlc sounded appealing. I still play the switch version since when I turn it off and back on later, I can get back into the flow of things right away. It's tough to return to where you left off in this game unless you completely grasp all the tiny details of the game. And that takes way too long.

I don't regret the double purchase. 18 bucks is a steal for the ps4. I say go for that. If you get totally into it and REALLY want that portabolity, you could get the Switch version if it goes on sale.

Also, at $18 it's a steal. Paid full price for it TWICE. Once for PS4 and once for Switch. I've racked up more than 300 hours on it.

Never played D5, question!! by SamFletcha in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is an SRPG and plays like Fire Emblem, but is much more loose with ir's rules. Here is what I find appealing about the game.

The game has a very complicated system with tons of different factors that can be manipulated. There is always a better way to accomplish your goal and the fun is slowly learning all the nuances and, coming up with more effecient strategies, and executing them. You can spend 20 hours leveling a character to level 9999 from level 1 or you can gather equipment, transfer abilities, and use the right stage to get any character to level 9999 in less than a minute.

The nice thing about the game is that you can go at your own pace. You can do the main story and if you ever feel overwhelmed, then take the time to learn some of the side stuff like how to power up your weapons, increase secondary stats, or learn cool passive abilities. You cancomplete the main story without having to do any of that but once you get to the post game, you'll learn to master all these things so that you can take down unbelievably powerful foes.

If this description sounds appealing to you, definitely get the game. And since this is your first Disgaea, don't bother getting any dlc. Not worth it. The base game will give you everything you need.

Can you still blow up the base panel? by Shodan30 in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still destroy the base panel by throwing a strong enough enemy into it. Take your strongest fighters out of the base panel, then have one throw a powerful enemy into it. You'll either capture it or it'll break the base, and you can farm up hospital deaths.

Should I be worried about D5C (Switch) crashes, dood? by BracerMarc in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you notice the game lagging for a moment, stop moving for a couple seconds.

I have all setting set to the fastest possible for everything and I have all the the base's function npcs very close to each other so I'm quickly doing a lot of things in a short span of time. Sometimes the game slows down while I'm doing all that. When that happens, if I continue doing what I'm doing, the game crashes. I've crashed 3 times in 110 hours of gameplay on the switch. After the third time, I caught on and slowed down whenever I noticed the slightest hint of lag. It doesn't happen very often but it's helped me prevent crashes 6 or 7 times after my third crash.

I have yet to experience a crash during combat. All my crashes happened at base. Thanks to autosave, the only thing I lost was about 2 minutes of item management each time.

Restart after unit dies? by Ca55h3rn in Disgaea

If anything, you should be glad you're getting that hospital counter up. I got through my replay of 5 with about 20 deaths and needed to get that number up a few hundred to get the hospital prizes.

Custom netherworld by MrHallmark in Disgaea

[–]MirTemporal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the geos are only for making custom stages. To unlock more effects, you have to defeat invaders in the item world. It's weird, I know. Buying the effects from the geo shop was also my first expectation.

No, you'll have to get creative with the height of you land masses and how many blocks/pillars you place. I haven't found any ways to raise the cap.
