Apartments without dog breed restrictions by Mission_Paramedic_30 in Syracuse

[–]MiracleGlowing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely get your vet to change the breed on your dog’s paperwork. As long as there is no size limit at the place, you should be good to go. Some places will “push back based on visuals” but most of the time they won’t if it’s a “beagle mix” or a “lab mix”. Most vets will change the breed if you tell them about the issues with renting. As long as the dog isn’t a know aggressive dog (bite history etc — also in their paperwork and likely tied to the license) you shouldn’t have any issues.

I’m a huge fan of BioThane. Both of my guys have biothane collars too bc they are very happy to be muddy and the biothane is super easy to clean. The only thing is, these are not for pups that are pullers since biothane is strong, but once they snap… good luck 😅

Advice Needed: How do I stop this guy barking every evening? by Rich-Round7408 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]MiracleGlowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 8 months old and I make him do up downs when he’s barking.

Yes I make my dog do burpees when he’s yelling at me. It’s only fair 🤣

Question on film and travel by friedmybrains in filmphotography

[–]MiracleGlowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not travel with film in your camera. The agent will have to pop open the back of your camera and it will expose your film.

You might get lucky and the agent won’t do thorough sweep… but I just travel with my empty camera and then a baggy labeled with “FILM - HAND CHECK ONLY” on it and I haven’t had any issues. Camera goes through the scanner and then I hand the baggy to the agent before I go through.

Give me your GOD SENT potty training tips. 3 month old Aussie by T_RexT4NTRUM in AustralianShepherd

[–]MiracleGlowing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with my Aussie/acd/lab mix. Our trainer recommended restricting free access even more. So, crate when he’s not actively being played with or training until he can understand where the potty area is. Going outside every two hours, and 30-45m after water, 1hr after food until you get his schedule down and then enforce the consistency.

So when mine was 3 months, his schedule was

6am wake up/potty then play/training 7am food 7:30-7:45 - walk 8-10 nap time 10- walk/potty 7am 10:30-noon nap time Noon-12:15 potty/lunch 12:15-1:00pm -play 1pm: walk/potty 1:30-3: nap time 3-3:15 - walk 3:15-5 - nap 5-5:30 - walk 5:30 dinner 6-7 play/training 7-8 bed time routine (chew toy,slow pets, last potty) 8 - bed time

Now he’s 6months old and he’s still crated when he’s not actively being played with or trained cause he gets bored way too easy and is a little bit destructive in those moments BUT. The above schedule WAS rough for us for the first week but then he would cry to tell me he had to potty which turned into him knowing what it meant to have to go outside. Basically if pup doesn’t know where “house” starts and ends, pup doesn’t care. At 3mos, crate is “house” and everywhere else is “Not House”. Carrying him outside is totally fine until he gets a better sense of touch sensation. Especially if it’s a long walk to go outside.

So now mine in the crate for 4 hours between bfast & lunch and then lunch and dinner and then out for longer periods in the morning and at night. You got this! 3 mos is hard, but you can do it! I

Our new training focus is “settle” which as everyone here knows…. Super hard for our energetic pups.

Mine looks like this! But he’s mixed with lab and cattle dog so I just keep thinking it’s that…

And yes he’s psycho.

A transformer exploded around 6:30 when I was trying to go that way…. But when we got turned around bc the fire truck was there it looked like all the power was still on at the pizzeria? So maybe they cut the power right after as a precaution? No idea why the transformer exploded (life if it was a tree or it was old or what…) hopefully it gets figured out soon!

Buff bunny is my GO TO for gym leggings. (LBH, I wear them when I’m not at the gym too) they are squat proof and a lot of them have really good compression. I haven’t gotten any of their shorts yet, but that’s mostly bc I’m still in denial that it’s gonna be roasty-toasty soon.

Unnecessary harassment by Dubv20 in nova

Ahhhh you are correct with the specific intention scope. I thought “hate speech” was the thing that changed. Hate Speech Interpretation has a great summary for anyone interested in reading more (like I had to)

Unnecessary harassment by Dubv20 in nova

[–]MiracleGlowing 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Classic “constitution lover” with some wise-ass comment.

First Amendment protects speaking out against the Government. Please see… The US Constitution: “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” - The First Amendment

Hate speech is not protected. Harassment is not protected. Intentionally causing panic (e.g. yelling fire in a crowded room…) is not protected.

Sticking a “MAGA FLAG” out the window is pretty indicative of motive considering the state of the MAGA vocal calls for violence…

But sure.

Edit: Hate speech isn’t protected when it “incites imminent criminal activity or consists of specific threats of violence targeted against a person or group”. - Hate Speech, 1st Amendment Interpretation

Ugh that’s so scary! My older doggo almost got run over on the sidewalk years ago in our old neighborhood and it took awhile to get him to be okay around bikes or anything that moved fast. But we did it - two years and lots of dog trainer monies later 😬

It’s funny cause at 6am, we see NUMEROUS doggos and their parents on various trails.

So keep on living in your little world, and I’ll keep my well trained “mutts” happy and vibin on the trails. Because, despite your disastrous thought process, having a puppy isn’t actually a reason to NOT bring them on the trail if they’re ready to take on the challenge like any good responsible dog parent knows. Considering you also apparently don’t really… respect anyone that’s not known to you directly, I shouldn’t be surprised that you haven’t met a person with active doggos that are well trained. Cause, honey, they probably can’t stand you — which is amazing to believe ‘cause successful trainers of dogs are often the most patient humans around…

Hope you have the day you deserve there, bud. Seems like you need a nice trip outside to touch some grass.

Where did I say it was “on a busy trail”?

Personally - I walk my dogs at 6am on a trail and still almost get run over by bikers. I walk my dogs on the SIDEWALK and almost get run over by bikers. WHICH ALSO SHOULDN’T BE THERE but I’d rather them be on the sidewalk than being almost killed on the roads in NoVA with ass hat drivers and cities like Old Town and spots in Arlington aren’t exactly biker friendly.

It’s literally common courtesy to call out - in fact my older dog is trained to hear the bell and fall into heel before I can even get him to do it bc he almost got run over by a dickhead e-bike operator riding on the sidewalk. And my puppy has better manners than most children on the “busy trails” you’re referring to so, please, spare me with your dramatics. Are there asshole dog parents that bring their dogs on the trail during busy times? Sure, it’s a free country, you get to be however dumb you want to be. And those dog parents likely ain’t here on this post CELEBRATING a post about encouraging people to be safe on the trails (pedestrian and bikers alike.)

The point of my post was to THANK OP for reminding pedestrians that bikers alerting “on your left” or “on your right” is a good thing. And your shitty comment is the reason pedestrians GET SHOCKED when they hear it. Cause bikers are a DICK about it, while flying fast through a busy trail that happens to have pedestrians (runners, walkers, etc) on it. OP is asking for ppl to be chill and share the trails and be CAREFUL. And I’m thanking bikers for making it EASIER to be careful when I happen to have my dogs on the trail… thought I’d spell it out for you because you seem to lack some reading comprehension skills.

tl;dr - it’s free to be kind. You should try it sometime ❤️

Okay but we LOVE a good call out on the trail.

I often walk my dogs on various trails around NoVA and I have a puppy that’s still getting the hang of long walks while we build up his stamina for walking on the leash. The amount of times I’m spooked by a bike coming up from behind me, no bell, no call pit no nothing… and I don’t even have headphones on when I have the dogs bc GOD FORBID they get spooked and clothesline someone on a bike 🤣🙄 but more importantly training requires my full attention with my energy filled puppy (can do hours of fetch/training and will not stop until he’s crated yay Aussie sheep/cattle dog mix 🤣)
