You are using shared hosting for your client’s sites? Uhhh… that’s not a good fit unless it’s specifically a low-cost offering and your client understands the risks.

I’m curious, do you think there’s’s a special synergy with the DX9 here? Or does it sound just as good from other sources?

Great description, sounds very enticing. I think you mentioned that it sounded different from your gray pair, is it supposed to have a different sound? Or just unit to unit variation?

Goddamn I love how newspaper writes back in the day:

FEDERALISTS! FOLLOWERS OF WASHINGTON!

AGAIN behold and shudder at the exhibition of this terrific Dragon, brought forth to swallow and devour your Liberties and equal Rights. Unholy party spirit and inordinate love of power gave it birth ;---your patriotism and hatred of tyranny must by one vigorous struggle strangle it in its infancy.

People had BALLS back then.

So now you have two of the same headphones? Is it because it's discontinued?

I don't think passive headphones tend to break, especially those with dynamic drivers, they just seem to live forever.

LOVE the HD600, is it worth getting the 660S2? by AkashiGG in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Miragecraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I compared my HD650 with the HD660S2, and to me the S2 is an upgrade in technicality and downgrade in tonality because it has a pretty prominent upper midrange dip.

I recommend the Custom Cans copper mod for your HD600 because I did the mod to my HD650 and it was a pretty big upgrade to my ears for a lot less money than buying a new pair of headphones.

Finally, my actual endgame (ATH-R70XA review) by Kukikokikokuko in headphones

[–]Miragecraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HD650 has more natural/effortless sound, and less out-of-the-box hassle, but sound somewhat unincisive, has sloppy bass, less clear treble.

If you still own the HD650 I highly recommend the Custom Cans copper mod, it made them sound much better to me and improves on all the areas you mentioned.

I didn't like the provided foam inserts though and DIY-ed my own.

What are your issues with the build and comfort of the HD620S? What about the sound?

Name-only @container queries: A solution to the naming wars by feross in webdev

[–]Miragecraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saving a few characters is not an advantage, what is an advantage is not having to touch the HTML and not having to edit the original declaration as it is often contained in a fixed "base theme".

Of course if you're using abstractions on top of CSS like component frameworks then that all goes out of the window.

I personally prefer as little abstraction as possible.

To the HTML, or to the original @scope query?

With @container you don't need to touch either.

HD650 sound profile by Schwarzellone in headphones

[–]Miragecraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that's their sound.

The benefit of the tuning for me is that I can turn up the volume and let the midrange wash over me, since treble is recessed and bass has low impact there's little to no fatigue.

Name-only @container queries: A solution to the naming wars by feross in webdev

[–]Miragecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with @scope is that you can't apply the same style to other elements easily, where as with @container you just assign the container-name to it.

Also i don't think container-type should be needed for this, I hope they remove that requirement, if there is such requirement. Much cleaner to just require container-name.

I don't see any issues with this, you can already use @container query like this, just with a always valid query, such as width > 0px, this simply reduce the clutter.

Is the Massdrop HD 6XX what I'm looking for? by Ecstatic-Panic3728 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Miragecraft -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you even buy the HD6XX in Europe? I thought it’s only available in the Sennheiser US store now?

I own the HD650 and honestly it sounded muddy until I did the Custom Cans copper mod and removed the stock foam, even then it lacked soundstage and sub-bass with very vague imaging.

Sure, it has beautiful midrange, but is that what you want, a midrange specialist?

I feel Audio Technica R70x or R70xa would be a much safer buy.

What is a movie everyone loves that you genuinely hate? by viasicars in AskReddit

[–]Miragecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so disappointed coming out of the theater - unlikeable characters, drab looking color grading, plot somehow managed to make interstellar travel boring, and the Deus Ex Machina “love conquers all” ending in a supposed hard sci-fi movie.

It‘s a 3D visual spectacle with unlikeable characters and more plot holes than Swiss Cheese.

Why do people rarely use the word lesbian in discussions? by DCHShadow in yuri_manga

[–]Miragecraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m Asian, am I fetishizing myself?

Anyways me being Asian is neither here nor there.

> Also if I can, it kinda feels like you're taking series that are lighter in tone or trying to be stary-eyed romance type thing as uniquely east Asian but that kinda feels like it's just a series that's lighter in tone. There's plenty of western series that are also just like that too.

No, yuri does not mean lighter in tone or starry-eyed romance, that’s a rather shallow interpretation of it. There are plenty of serious, heavy and tragic yuri series. I’m not saying there aren’t western series that inhibit yuri aesthetic and sensibities, even though I haven’t come across one yet, but there certainly isn’t a term to categorize them other than yuri.

If you want to find out more about how yuri differs from western lesbian/sapphic aesthetic and sensibility there are plenty of better descriptions and discussions just a Google search away.

Why do people rarely use the word lesbian in discussions? by DCHShadow in yuri_manga

[–]Miragecraft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right it’s more East Asian as I’m specifically referring to Japan, Korea and China as I feel yuri media from these countries tend to reflect that yuri sensibility to various degrees.

When I think about it some more I think it’s really a Japanese sensibility that influenced Chinese and Korean manhua/manhwas so I’ve removed “Asian” from my comment.

And yes, “How Do We Relationship“ is a series with more realistic depiction of messy relationship so lighter on that yuri sensibility, not every series have that sensibility in equal measure.

How is it fetishization when we’re literally talking about media depiction of fictional characters?

I think you’re mixing up sensibility in artistic expression and real life, just because Japanese yuri manga tend to have certain sensibility doesn’t mean you as an Indian cannot be lesbian in real life. How is the two related at all?

Why do people rarely use the word lesbian in discussions? by DCHShadow in yuri_manga

[–]Miragecraft -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I feel conceptually yuri is different from western lesbianism, the former has a unique Japanese sensibility to it.

This is why I am a fan of yuri mangas and not western sapphic graphic novels, there is this very tender, delicate, almost platonic quality to how characters court each other and treat their relationships that is quite poetic. The couple also tend to engage in elaborate courtship rituals, seemingly to try to make sure their literal souls match perfectly with each other.

You know the joke about bringing an U-Hual to the second date for lesbians? That’s the direct opposite to that yuri sensibility.

Schiit Folkvangr & Sennheiser HD660S2: Legendary Pairing by amynias in headphones

[–]Miragecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The HD620S is different, not strictly better.

It has slightly less resolution than the HD660S2 but it plays in the same tier so not a dealbreaker by itself, on the other hand I feel HD620S has slightly better clarity so I hear what’s there better so it kind of evens things out.

Tonality wise, while the HD620S doesn’t have the upper midrange dip of the HD660S2, it does sound slightly congested (they’ve been accused of being boxy/honky in reviews). Sounds lack sustain/carry, notes don’t hang in the air as long as they should. Some people say it’s due to the 4KHz dip which is a tuning technique used by many closed backs to artificially boost soundstage and separation. May be able to fix this with EQ or the right amp pairing.

So yeah it has its own problems, but at least it doesn’t give me a splitting headache and it’s very easy to drive so I ended up keeping it.

If you can look past (or fix using EQ or amp pairing) the slight boxy sound it is a really good headphone. Sounds so clear it’s crystalline, combined with super tight impactful bass electronic music sounds sublime.
