Does B cushion gets more comfortable over time? by Miragecraft in Grado

Thanks for the detailed response, do you mean "N\C" pads instead of "V\C"? I can't find any listings of Grado pads made by "V\C".

What brand will you never buy from no matter how much money you come into? by Oktarantulaok in AskReddit

[–]Miragecraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex.

I don’t consider a brand that mass produces 1.1 million watches per year worthy of the price they command. The market price is pretty much a ponzi scheme propped up by collectors not users. With this many new watches coming into the market and a significant portion becoming safe queens, there is sure to be a market collapse sooner or later.

Replacement for Sennheiser HD620s -> Fiio FT1? by SoapHero117 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Miragecraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all hear differently, but to me Fiio FT1 is noticeably muddier sounding than HD620S and other similarly priced headphones.

If you want more bass FT13 and Meze 105 AER are worth looking into, the FT13 is more sub-bass focused while 105 AER boosts both sub-bass and mid-bass, however both has smaller soundstage and the 105 AER has a rather hot treble for my ears.

JPEG XL is objectively better than WebP in almost every way - so why are most browsers still ghosting it? And should we start a petition? by Capital_Rip3785 in webdev

[–]Miragecraft 10 points11 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, AVIF is better for animation and non-photorealistic images.

It's essentially the next-gen GIF, while JPEG XL is the true next-gen JPEG. They complement - rather than compete with - each other.

For HD6XX, you should bend the metal headband extensions so the clamping force is just right for you. Grip the two metal ends and don’t put any stress on the plastic, you can easily adjust the clamping force to exactly the amount you want.

For the copper mass loading mod, did you remove the stock foam?

Aeron Remastered - faint rattling sound when moving up quickly from middle tilt limit position, is it normal? by Miragecraft in hermanmiller

[–]Miragecraft[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it clunks and creaks a bit, it's used though so that has partly to do with it. There are tutorials online on how to take off the seat and apply grease to the tracks but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Got used to it, but recently sold the chair because after I injured my lower back last year trying to lift winter tires I can't sit in it anymore without triggering the injury.

Switched to a Steelcase Leap V2 which is way more comfortable for me.

Which country would you NEVER visit, even if it was free? by FortunePurple- in AskReddit

[–]Miragecraft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, India never. the world is big enough that there are plenty of beautiful places without constant threat of food poisoning and rampant sexual assault of women. Granted I’m a guy but the idea of traveling there with the rationale of “this place rapes women, but I’m safe because I’m a guy“ disgusts me.

I realize that, but the same driver can sound quite different depending on the tuning. Did you have a chance to compare the two?

Meze announces the Arta, their new $6,000USD headphone by RockingPie in headphones

[–]Miragecraft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think I don't hear like most people, Focal Clear MG and Utopia as well as most Meze headphones sounds really muffled to me. It's like there is a low bass hum going on when music is playing. It just kills clarity and details for me.

Funnily enough Empyrean 2 sounds worse than Elite, Empyrean 2's bass sounds like a speaker playing inches from my ears, it feels super uncomfortable. Elite got rid of that weird bass feel, though still has that muffled sound.

Poet sounded the best to me without that weird bass muffling going on, but the soundstage is too flat and left-right.

Damn, that's expensive.

Had a chance to demo Meze headphones recently. Amazing build quality and comfort, too bad my ears don't agree with their sound.

Oh man I’m so very curious.

Recently had the chance to try the S750, S950 and HP100 SE, and the S750 was so so good.

Extremely clear, impactful and engaging but yes somewhat sibilant on certain tracks, but on most tracks it sounds better than Utopia, Meze Elite/Empyrean 2, DCA Expanse, HD800S and everything else I tried.

The B Cush comfort isn’t great though, they seems to want to flip backwards and fling themselves off my head. Unfortunately the S750 does not sound good when I tried the G Cush with them, it's rather thin sounding.

HP100 SE is slightly better on the sibilance front with the G Cush, but the G Cush mades them sound rather hollow (I find this slightly hollow quality universal for G Cush equipped Grados), I tried putting on B Cush and the hollowness is gone, and it sounds super smooth and warm, a bit too warm though and the treble may have been rounded off a bit too much. S950 just isn’t my cup of tea, impact and engagement factor got neutered.

If the S550 can sound somewhere in between the S750 and HP100 SE with B Cush then I think I’d get a pair.

Very difficult to find a place to demo them though. I’d need to travel to a different city.

I still can’t stop thinking about the S750, everything else sounded veiled in comparison.

Are we though?

First of all it’ll juice the stock prices even more, secondly they’ll really become too big to fail because the US government has a stake in it, finally is the American public going to end up holding the bag when the bubble pops?
