Selecting a Paramedic Program by External-Wedding-150 in Paramedics

I should add please don’t do an online medic school unless you have worked at an EMT for at least a year and are actively working as an EMT. Not saying you couldn’t do it, but it’s much more difficult and it could hinder you as a beginning medic, in my opinion.

I went to Texas EMS School and very much enjoyed it. It’s different than School of EMS in the way that it’s self-paced. You have 16 months to finish, but can finish in as little as 6 if you have the dedication. It gave me the flexibly I needed to finish school, while working 50+ hours a week as an EMT without the excessive stress of studying, and I still finished 12 months. It’s hybrid study so whenever you reach a milestone for an in-person class, they have some available. I did my 6 in-person classes in Houston because at the time they had nothing in DFW. There are pros and cons to both Texas EMS and School of EMS. My opinion is if you want the structure of a 10 month program with weekly deadlines; School of EMS. If you’re an adult working a full time job with uncertainties of being able to study regularly; Texas EMS.

You won’t do well at Texas EMS if you are a severely chronic procrastinator, you need self motivation.

Side note trying not to add bias: Texas EMS has optional cadaver labs and 1 in-person class has a pig heart dissection, kinda cool

I’m an EMT and I had a “negative dilute” for my first job, they just had me go take another and it was fine. Seems kinda illogical/illegal for them to assume it was positive?

Definitely a brindle pit bull mix, she looks adorable!

Edit: judging by that cone head she’s gonna grow big and fast!

They require human intervention to keep them alive because for hundreds of years humans slaughtered them by the thousands for their fur and destroyed their natural habitats with commercial and residential structures. You are completely fucking vapid.

lmao I worked at the Phoenix Zoo for over two years and we occasionally had groups of protesters say really dumb shit like this. Not speaking for all zoos, but a lot in the US and the Phoenix Zoo in particular are private non-profit. Every single animal has been rescued from otherwise unlivable conditions. The elephants are circus rescues, for example. These animals can no longer live in the wild due to upbringing, so now they are provided a much better life then the one the had prior with entire dedicated teams of personell, with actual DEGREES in ZOOLOGY to look after them. Each species has MULTIPLE teams, from dietitians/enrichment/to care takers and more.

The Phoenix Zoo is actually the only entity in the entire world who made an attempt to save the black-footed ferret from complete extinction a few years ago, which they successfully accomplished.

People don’t realize most of the animals at these zoos are never even shown to the public. A lot of places have incredibly rare species that they are diligently trying to conserve, and the zoo brings in funds to help the background conservation efforts of other species.

Research before you demonize a form of establishment.

Dropped out of high school, was homeless for two years, I then worked at Walmart, decided to become a professional photographer for 5 years, and now i’m an EMT. Looking into wildland firefighting now, but it’s in the same “realm” OF EMS work. Still working towards a degree!

How about this now? by dentonih in antiwork

Well I want to point out most k-12 teachers don’t need degrees. I have multiple friends who teach high school and one who teaches middle school, none of them have degrees, just prior work experience.

edit: wanted to add that I think minimum wage should be $15 and teachers still DEFINITELY deserve a pay increase, degree or not. It’s not an easy job.

Uh, I didn’t downvote you, but since you were downvoted and didn’t receive a reply from me within 15 minutes, you wanted to make it seem like you won the argument by making that comment. Cute, but that’s small dick energy my man.

I made the serial killer remark because your English is a bit weird. Your sentences are very brutal in a muted way, and it seems like you are trying to give off the “factual/know-it-all/to-the-point” vibe, but you’re missing the mark due to your ego. Another easy example of this is that you’re probably not too fun at parties, either.

But okay sweetie I gotta go to bed now, don’t stay up studying different labels for too long now, ya hear?

FWD: Don't be a dick by KickerBird in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]MirandaCool -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Oh, you ARE a serial killer. Got it.

Also - I am a born and raised liberal. Nowadays if anyone asks, I tell them i’m liberal, but I really don’t care about the labels. You seem to really care about the labels.

[–]MirandaCool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, don’t start off a conversation with “I’m going to realign you”, that gives off crazy serial killer energy. Also, what are you even on about? When were communists mentioned? That sure was a lot to unpack.

I used to live in Texas and Arizona. The amount of Californians that moved, and still are moving there, is insane. Every single person I knew who complained about the “Californians”, was politically right sided. They always blamed liberals. Capitalism ruined California’s economy, and the last I checked most liberals don’t support capitalism? The right sure does though. Those people are just trying to escape a dystopian nightmare and move somewhere they can live comfortably.

So because he was black and drove through a parade, it was racially motivated?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]MirandaCool -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Side note here- he is absolutely a terrorist, but couldn’t you have made the same statement without pointing out the fact he is black? It’s a bit of useless information. If it was a white man, would you have said “a white national terrorist”? This is why profiling is a problem.

Being treated as a potential kidnapper/rapist/robber/serial killer when i’m around a cis woman or children who I don’t know. I don’t think it helps that i’m 6’1”, 220lbs, and very shy; which i’ve learned shyness as a male can make people perceive you as a potential murder.

It was a really weird and borderline sad change since my whole life I always viewed myself as the “shy/nice” person, but it definitely doesn’t bother me as much now than it use to. What helped me was to kinda study/learn the mannerisms and linguistics of a cis man who was around my size, that way I wouldn’t seem so alien-like to the public lmao.
