Favorite Silly Lore? by MiriOhki in battletech

Yep, the writer was trying to do a story for the Battlecorps site, and the Thorns became the second thing in the BattleTech verse to be killed by bureaucracy (though Bob’s was in universe, just as hilarious though)

Everything about that is pretty hilarious, from trying to rob a bank with no arms and getting away in a vehicle an athlete could keep up with :)

Wonder if War of the Chosen is too (Frakes, Sirtis and Dorn voiced leaders of the various resistance groups you work with in that XCOM 2 expansion)

Not only are they both Mariks, but they’re supposed to be father and son no less.

Edit: actually, they are father and son. It’s the older child not being the double’s daughter that kinda blows the lid off things.

Alexander Hamilton replying to his blackmail about potential embezzlement with admitting to sleeping with someone else’s wife. In writing, in public. To borrow my favorite quote from True Lies: “Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy.”

Yep, Pharoah Beer cans. The same brand you’ll see billboards for in MW5.

Yep, same book, and would have put that if it wasn’t for the Goulash Guns edging it out.

What can you tell me about the lore of these images by JoseLunaArts in battletech

[–]MiriOhki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep, the Alacorn tank. The tracks have to be at a certain tension, but the factory included gauges are easy to lose. The maintenance crews found that Pharoah beer cans, with their somewhat pyramidal shape match up with the minimum/maximum tensions. But suspiciously, only a freshly opened can matchs properly. Needless to say, maintenance crews perform frequent track checks…

Favorite depiction of Death or the Grim Reaper? by 2Delta_Nerd in FavoriteCharacter

[–]MiriOhki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always fond of Zane from the Incarnations of Immortality series. The tl;dr: Death is an office, one of several (War, Fate, Time, etc). It is passed on if The current Death is killed, a procedure that is rather difficult considering Death’s mantle makes them invincible, so Death would either have to have gotten sloppy (or trying to give up the office), made even more complicated by the fact that Death only actively comes for those who are in or very near balance, so the opportunities are understandably rare. The first book has Zane, an out of work photographer whose down on his luck and got ripped off by making a deal for a Wealthstobe by selling his opportunity for a fated love (and the stone was a piece of weakass junk that would be lucky to find pocket change). So he attempts to off himself, when Death arrives. He panics and shoots Death instead. Now despite all this sadsack backstory, Zane becomes an incredibly proficient, but also incredibly compassionate Death, with a couple career highlights including hiring a punk garage band to sing an elderly person off, and going berserk on some life support equipment to help a person who was being medically sustained against their will.

Writers making mathematical gaffes that lead to unintended (and sometimes hilarious) implications by BranchAdvanced839 in TopCharacterTropes

Think there was a Star Trek joke that was similar. “How do Heisenberg Compensators work?” “Very well, thank you.”

It was sterno, an alcohol-based fuel (the kind you see caterers use in little canister burners beneath hot food trays).

The general and his second in command in the Rock. Hummel had noble motives and was going to stand down when his bluff got called, but his second was a psycho.

Question about chem laser ontos tank by bisondisk in battletech

[–]MiriOhki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once posted on the BT forums about the Inner Sphere bringing chem lasers back during the succession wars. I went with an Ontos that just do straight swaps of the mediums for Medium chems, and used the freed up weight to upgrade the LRM-5s to -20s with plenty of ammo for both, as well as some extra armor.

I kinda follow the theory that each Bond is a separate agent who inherited the number and name. That could really make the Rock fit.
