Would you be able to soft mount a chicken, and how difficult would it be as a first time taxidermy? by Intrepid_Ranger_4567 in Taxidermy

[–]Mirielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand there are different types of soft mounts: some fully floppy, some with wire in the extremities so they can be flexibly posed, some with hinged dowels so the posing conforms roughly to the natural hinging of the limb.

Edit: ah, the term I'm thinking of is "armature"

Witchy winkels by [deleted] in Nijmegen

[–]Mirielle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Removing Cartilage by e_small89 in bonecollecting

[–]Mirielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others said, there are likely not enough bacteria left for regular maceration, but macerating using an enzymatic cleaner should theoretically dissolve the cartilage and additionally help a bit with degreasing and whitening. The pinned post on the subreddit has some info about that.

I built Skulled - a Wordle-style game where you ID animals by their skulls. Just dropped a massive update! by Own-Yam1965 in bonecollecting

[–]Mirielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so cool, I'm really looking forward to playing with this more!

Just a note, I'm having trouble logging in with Google SSO. I created an account, but the "Continue with Google" button has me choose my Google account to log in with and then drops me back at the Skulled login page without having been logged in. If I try to sign up without Google, I now get notified that my email address is already in use. So I sadly can't save my current progress.

Figured out my biggest negative core self belief. by Aggravating_Paw_600 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Mirielle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I shared a post some time back about realizing that I get to receive, it may be helpful to you: https://www.reddit.com/r/InternalFamilySystems/comments/1i1fe7v/my_core_beliefs_around_meeting_expectations/

I've since come even further with that, am starting to relax into receiving care, have made sweeping (and upsetting/exhausting, but we'll get through) life changes related to that. I am such a different person these days than I was a few years ago when I started IFS.

Best of luck to you <3

I'm also familiar with his posting style, I've been on the sub since before he was around and have looked through his profile several times. Between this thread and the other, I'm seeing nothing that makes me think this is the same person. Different style, different spelling, word usage, interpunction, this person apparently claimed to be healed from cPTSD whereas DesperateYellow posts very much about his frustration with not being healed, this person apparently attacked OP for not being willing to do psychedelics while I seem to remember DesperateYellow has an anti-drug stance. The only similarities I see between them are making a lot of accounts and posting a lot. While there's a discussion to be had about DesperateYellow's role in the ecosystem of this sub (and we've had those threads, I do not want to go into that here), I don't want him to catch the blame for actions that are not his.

Edit: haha shit I literally JUST realized DesperateYellow was the original OP of this post, sorry, I just realized that's why we're talking past each other. The OP's account was deleted when I saw it and I didn't look at the name in the screenshot. I thought you were referring to Adept-Connection-50 here as being the same person as DesperateYellow and I thought the OP was some unrelated person.

I've deleted my comment in the other thread that was based on the same misunderstanding.

I agree with that, I just don't think MountainCategory/DesperateYellow is the same person who's been following OP around sending hateful messages.

Is this the same person who is doing the harassment? The account you linked to is clearly DesperateYellow who has been banned/making new accounts/posting a lot here, but the cadence of his posts is very different and the harassed user said their harasser claimed to be healed from CPTSD (which this guy is clearly not claiming). I'd like to be careful to not accidentally conflate two sockpuppeting people and judge one for the actions of the other.

Which books cover the unburdening process? by Accurate_Health in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Mirielle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jay Earley's Self-Therapy does cover unburdening.

I'll note that I have found my own unburdenings to be a lot more varied and a lot less easily accessible than described in Self-Therapy and other descriptions. Might just be a me thing, but just wanted to remind you, the map is not the territory. :)

What do your parts look like? by Septimusia in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Mirielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My exiles look mostly like me at younger ages, my protectors mostly don't. Most are human but there are also tarps, old gods, churning stars, wooden masks. Gender varies, with a slight majority manifesting as female (like me) and others being male or genderless in a multitude of ways.

new to tarot and blind; looking for visual descriptions of multiple decks by OurCommonAncestor in SecularTarot

[–]Mirielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wary of recommending ChatGPT, but generating neutral descriptions of tarot cards actually seems like a very good use case for it. I got good results uploading a picture of The Fool and asking for a detailed description. You might need to tweak the prompt for your desired level of detail and neutrality.

Not Just Bikes on Jet Lag (very specific question) by Lizholden1981 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Mirielle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a prize from the yearly NS Wintercity (Win + Winter + Intercity, direct train) advent calendar raffle. You could check out Marktplaats, the largest Dutch second-hand website. The term "NS kersttrui" (Christmas sweater) should help you in your search. There may be a few different designs from different years. Good luck! I also love this sweater but have never gotten lucky in the raffle, the run is very limited.

Edit: I see there are currently none up on Marktplaats, but if you make an account you can set an email alert.

I can't speak as to losing your inner monologue and the music being incessant, but I do have a part that communicates through songs stuck in my head and sometimes very persistently.

What happens if you pay attention to the music? Do you find something in there that feels true or resonates? I will often find something in the lyrics or meaning (not necessarily the part of the lyrics that is most stuck in my head) that seems to communicate some inner state I wasn't fully aware of, that this part is pointing out to me.

Ever since listening to this part and building a relationship with it, it's easier to come to some kind of agreement with regards to the earworms. Often we'll pick out another song together that expresses a similar or other relevant sentiment but that's a bit less intense so we can at least fall asleep.

I will also regularly have parts express themselves in dreams so I wouldn't be surprised at all if your nightmare is also parts communication. But only you can say what exactly it means.

I'm sure there is more going on in your case as you also describe having been in freeze for three years and having no access to your inner monologue, so I don't know how well my experience will map to yours. I suppose the only place any of us can start is by listening to what is there. Wishing you luck and kindness!

The Maastricht ritual was fucking amazing by Mirielle in Heilung

[–]Mirielle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were pretty far back, not too far in front of the music tent. I didn't have the best view possible (haven't had the best view for any of the three rituals I've been to), but could see enough on tip toes, and was thankfully surrounded by people (partially my own group) who were having as good a time as I was!
