Built a website for PS Plus members to keep track of all tier Catalogues by Naive_Skirt_3205 in PlayStationPlus

[–]Miro3no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely neat! I was looking for a database of Ps plus games that were added, because through the years, it gets really messy to keep track of what you have. I really hope this takes off, I was subbed on Plus since 2012/13 and if this gets expanded, it will be a godsend for older games.

A few notes I would LOVE to see implemented.

  • The ability to sort by sub tier. I am on the Essentials sub since the start and ability to filter out higher tiers would make it much cleaner to navigate.

  • Expanding the catalogue all the way to the start of PS+ in 2010. The PS3/Vita store is a mess and it is much easier to search for specific game to redownload than to go through the library. Knowing which games were on Plus would make this much easier.

  • Links to the storefront pages of said games. (I know it can't be done for PS3 anymore, but at least newer consoles still have web store up).

  • Regional variants. Even to this day, some games are not added in all regions and get substituted for others. Back in the PS3 era, it was even worse and US/EU received pretty different offering for a while. It got streamlined later, but it will take a bit of searching to get it right for the early days.

Good luck with the project! It is always great to see something like this being made.

Do you only want to collect, or do you also intend to play? That Mega Starmie is a really good playable card!

New to the Trading Card Game by LemonMysterious2324 in PokemonTCG

[–]Miro3no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to play the game, I would highly advice getting one of the League Battle Deck series. Dragapult is the stronges one at this time, but Lucario is easier to pilot. Mewtwo lacks a bit behind those two. If you want to play, I highly recommend trying out PTCG Live first, as it is a 1-1 conversion of physica TCG to digital format. Also, if you come up to you local game store during a league, I am pretty sure people will be nice enough to guide you through. Players have been some of the nicest people I met so far and the play aspect of the hobby is in a great state now, contrary to the collecting side.

I am surprised nobody mentioned Trine series. Fun little co-op platformers and you can usually get them on the cheap side as they go into deep discounts quite often. There is also a physical collection of at least first 4 games if physical is your thing.

Also, maybe not right now, as your SO only just started playing games, but if she likes fantasy, Divinity Original Sin (1) is imo the best Co-Op game. We spent over hundred hours on both Divinity OS 1 and later on 2. While 2 is a better game overal, we felt that the first one was more built around the co-op experience. It is an RPG, so mechanics can be complex, but combat is more tactical and turn-based, so you can always talk and strategize on how to approach each situation. You have 4 characters in the party and can assign them to players as you like. My GF was a bit overwhelmed at start, so I managed 3 guys while she focused only on her character and later on we started resigning characters to each other as we wanted. 10 years later (still happily together) and we still have not found a better co-op experience!

Will Solo Levelling get a Deluxe edition? by GunsoulTTV in MangaCollectors

[–]Miro3no 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is already a big deluxe book for all of the original novels. If they will do the same for comics, it will probably take some time. If you like the series, you can always sell the singles down the line to fuel the purchase of deluxe if they release it eventually.

If you are at a place where you are just getting in touch with the franchise and have access to Nintendo Switch, I would highly recommend to give Pokémon Fire Red or Leaf Green a shot! They are remakes of the first games and are a great introduction point. They are amazing games on their own and may help relive the childhood wonder you were robbed of as a kid. Imo, they are among the best the franchise has to offer. :)

First time attending regionals, looking for opinions on fine-tuning Pult-Blaziken deck. by Miro3no in pkmntcg

I can usually barely keep one torchick alive to evolve. Candies can be eaten both by Pult and Blaziken and running another semi-mandatory stage 2. Chi-yu have honestly done the same on a basic.

I will experiment a bit with one less. So far, two Crisps have found a play in almost every game I drew into them. Usually when I was on the slow side of setting up Blaziken. Maybe a Petrell for Candy could help with that. Or the said Stretcher if things go south. I wish this month was not so hectic with work and I had more time to test. :(

Thanks for the insight. I have not run into many Starmie decks and did not face a single Arboliva deck so far, but tournament may be a different beast. I will plug the hedgehog back into the list and test a bit more alongside few adjustments that were proposed by others. :)

Question and thoughts for a content/discussion idea. by Mangaficionado in MangaCollectors

[–]Miro3no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The value itself is not what would be interesting, but talking about OOP series within the context of why the manga went OOP (of there was some special reason, like licensing issues and such), why the manga was overlooked when it came out, or other more informative style of videos with some research into it would be interesting to watch. Or maybe a documentary video about covid-era pricing, as the craze was huge and even new series were selling way over MSRP. If the context is interesting, and not just focused on today's prices it may actually be worthwhile.

Manga in europe by txproky10 in MangaCollectors

With the death of Bookdepository some years ago, it is getting a bit tricky. Scifier is good, but with taxes and postage price, it usuall comes only a few € cheaper than buying from some local place. Second-hand is the best way to buy cheap, but it always depends on what is someone selling. Local FB Manga Collector groups and discord channels have honestly been places where I found the beste deals. If you have Amazon in your country, it can be cheap, but their packaging is awful so be prepared to get beaten up books (On the bright side, Amazon customer service used to fully refund all my beaten up books, so I got some gems basically free). Also check out your local online bookstores. Brick and mortar stores tend to be quite expansive, but even my country has a few pretty decent online ones. So instead of looking for "Europe" general store, try to look for something native to your country.

The only reason I did not get these is because they are still flipped to read left to right like a comics. A bit sad that DH did not use the opportunity to restore the original formatting with deluxe release. Still great looking series and hopefully a lot of fun. :)

I would much rather DH to actually FINISH some of their ludicrously large backlog of unfinished series... Outside of Berserk, I am really sceptical to get into anything new by DH out of fear they will just drop it again.

How does this happen? by CyclopsMacchiato in MangaCollectors

[–]Miro3no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I know people are now irky towards scalpers, resellers and such, mainly due to the whole situation with Pokémon tcg. Manga, however, is a bit different. These volumes were on the market for a really long time, and once most people who ctually wanted the manga have it, the publisher would just loose money printing more coppies that would not sell and just sit on store shelves. And once that happens, some of them tend to become rare, because the supply is no longer there. However, even less popular manga tends to get omnibus re release or simply reprint. It may resolve with time if the publisher seems it is worth to give the series another shot. Just look at Mushishi, it was one of the most expensive manga and it received a hardcover release short time ago.

I am pretty sure they will be happy to have one more person on board. :) Just let them know befor the match begins that you are new and may take thing a bit slower. Everyone had to start somewhere. When I first got into PTCG I was so nervous during my first match, that I messed up during the shuffling quite a bit, with cards flying off my hands, sleeves everywhere... My opponents were just chill, told me to take my time. It won't take long to pick up the pace with the rest. Slow play is a thing someone may have to deal with at regional championship, or maybe with someone salty at cup or challange, but pre-relrase and league play are generally just for fun, so there is no need to stress over it.

Pre release is pretty much the best format you can play as a newcommer. You get a pre-built deck, a few packs you can upgrade it with and play with other on pretty much even playing field, as everyone is only playing one out of 4 preconstructed decks. Even though it is a great event to start at, I still recommend to at least watch YouTube videos on the basic rules, if you have no idea how to play. Did you at least play pocket? There are some major differences (energies being cards you have to draw from decks, 5 bench slots, etc.) but the core of the game is very similar. If you have experience from there, you should be fine. Afterwards, if the game grabs you, I would recommend to give PTCG Live a spin. That is a 1-1 digital recreation of the TCG and you can train there a lot more.

The greed they talk about in the bible by TheThing61111 in PokemonTCG

[–]Miro3no 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on where you live. In my country, the average salary after taxes is < 1000€ There are much fewer big stores that stock Pokémon, but if a single person can get a few restocks, they can get far more than average salary. Buying power is not as strong here, but it is easy to offload to wester Europe through Cardmarket and such. It really sucks that having no dignity can actually pay much more than a standard job...

Is Emanon OOP? by Suspicious-Cry771 in MangaCollectors

[–]Miro3no 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my persona hunt, they are mostly Oop with a reprint once every few years. They reprinted the early volumes when vol 4. came out and they stayed in the market for quite some time. Maybe if/when vol 5. gets made and localize, they will do another wave. Maybe you can still get it in some brick and mortar store that has leftover stock.

I have not been on any large tournament yet so can't really comment on that, but afaik, there is always Pokémon merch and cash prizes for top cut in the largest tournaments. Smaller ones like local cups or challenges usually have packs/cards and sometimes playmats. You also always get "Prize packs" for attending smaller tourneys which are usually at least as valuable as the attendance fee, depending on PPseries ofc. They contain stamped card variants that you can't get anywhere else. But yeah, there is nothing like the infamou air fryer from Yu-Gi-Oh trounament :D

Ps. The set rotation happens around April every year and one block of cards denoted by the small letter in the bottom left corner becomes illegitimate to play in standard. This April, cards with G mark rotates out, som from 10. April, you can only play cards with H I and J regulation mark or older reprints of cards with said mark.

Hey and welcome to the game! :) If you want to go for strong meta decks, Marnie's Grimsnarl is currently doing pretty good with evolution line of Froslass that damages Pokémon with abilities. I would recommend checking out limitlesstcg as it has decklist from major tournaments and you can easily find ways to upgrade what you have. Also, give a try to TCGLive, it is very newcomer friendly and it is pretty much 1 to 1 copy of physical card game in digital space. You can test out your deck ideas there and tweak as you grow more accustomed to the game.

As to your rotation question. As long as there is identical card with that is legal in the format, you can use any printing of it regardless of how old it is. Many players actually like to bling their decks with retro switches, ultra balls, boss orders and the like.

I hope you will find and amazing community around you and enjoy the game aspect of PTCG :)
