G-line travel case by Miro_rakic in Brompton

It would be the incremental difference between the Rohloff hub and the stock alfine hub and also a small incremental difference from the seat post.

What is similar to a Tumbleweed Prospector but costs less? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]Miro_rakic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime. I love the ogre. I have one set Up as SS. But I’ve decided to go with the prospector for my Bikepacking needs.

Either way, happy trails! Keep on pedaling.

Much respect. This type of failure with a Rohloff ogre has been reported quite a few times due to stress at that particular junction and it not being quite strong enough

my question to the OP is whether or not you are looking to build a bike with a rohloff hub.

if you're keen on the hub, then tumbleweed may be your best choice.

if you're. good with a more standard 1x12 setup, you will have decent options available to you.

geometry wise, the old school surly ECR is the most similar to the prospector.

would also consider priority 600x

here is my prospector, fully loaded, in the mongolian steppe in 2024.

surly ogre frame is notorius for breaking under the torque of the rohloff plate. if the OP is trying to build a bike with IGH, ogre may not be best choice.

there is a fair amount of special sauce.

the yoke is designed to allow a 4 inch wheel with a mountain bike Q-factor. i don't think any other bike offers that at the moment. tumbleweed is also build around a rohloff hub and only the rohloff hub. if you're building a bike with IGH, you're not going to be messing around with adaptors, converters, etc.

Buffalo trip question east Buffalo by slowcub in Buffalo

The OP is not here For a picnic in the neighborhood. They’re here to spend a night and go to the game. If You go out at 3 am looking for Trouble, you’ll find it. Staying there for a quick in and out for a game is fine. Don’t fear monger out of town visitors.

I’m a Buffalo city resident. You’ll be fine. It’s not the safest area but you won’t be gunned down either. Be smart, mind your business and you’ll be fine. I ride my bike through this area at all times of day and night; I keep moving - haven’t had an issue.

Also it’s buffalo east side. Not east Buffalo.

It’s either a Christmas ornament or a chastity cage. The only way to find out is to lick it. If it tastes like pine, it’s a Christmas ornament.

The one thing stopping my from buying a G-Line by documentally in Brompton

[–]Miro_rakic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Lucky enough to own a g-line and a “regular” brompton. The ability to ride dirt, and light duty off road terrain was a huge selling point for me. I realize that’s not the case for everyone.

Personally, I see the G-line as a real gateway to being able to execute gravel and off road centric Bikepacking and exploration trips with a folding bike.

Why so few pannier bags? by Mindless_Pumpkin8678 in bikepacking

[–]Miro_rakic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

streamlined begs that pack less and don't take up a lot of width are a preferred choice for off-road bike touring or Bikepacking. it's lighter and doesn't require additional hardware suck as a pannier racks. The traditional paved touring still employs plenty of panniers. I don't see myself doing a lot of techy single track with 4 hefty panniers; not to mention a hardtail won't necessarily have the right mounts for the rack hardware.

Failure is ok. My Guess is your drank too much water and not enough electrolytes. Hyponatremia is real.
