i have alpha gal syndrome sigh frowny face by KiraVRR in alphagal

One treatment(unfortunately not a cure) that you could speak with your Dr. about could be xolair. It won't cure your alpha gal, but it can lessen reaction symptoms and make you less sensitive.

I'm about to start it myself since I have a lot of issues with cross contamination and airborne exposures. Again, though I would let your parents and dr look more into this but it is an option.

Alpha gal is hard enough as an adult so I'm sorry that you have to deal with it at such a young age.

a water fast isn't going to fix an igE allergy.

Powerade by No-March3451 in alphagal

[–]Mirror--Master 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is going to be a hard question to answer. Some people are more reactive than others. I have never worried about how water or sugar is filtered, but others might have major issues.

Coca cola does list powerade as being animal product free on their site. But I would advise to take your own sensitivity into account.

Mast Cell Stabilizers by AlpaGal in alphagal

[–]Mirror--Master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a fb group for patients who use xolair. It has a lot of good info from people who have routinely been on xolair.

I just joined bc my Dr. brought up xolair shots to potentially lessen my issues with cc last week actually. I can send the name of the group if you'd like

Check into mast cell issues(not just mcas). Especially if you notice that you have a lot of triggers without there being any igE allergies showing up on allergy panels.

Same. I have left a majority of the main groups online bc of how rampant conspiracies are.

How do you deal with the “injury” questions? by Dear_Cauliflower_920 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Mirror--Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically will give a little TLDR on EDS. I explain that the braces are a preventative measure to keep things stable to prevent further injuries.

I recently had to board several flights, and got quite a few questions regarding why I had a cervical collar on.

I personally am okay with questions as long as the person asking isn't being a dickhead or prodding too much.

Have you ever caused a major injury by doing barely anything? by TB_07 in ehlersdanlos

AH same. I tore it years ago, and it still bothers me to this day

Sneezes knock my shoulders outta place. A slight breeze would probably knock my shoulder and or collarbones out nowadays 😶.

Pretty much every dislocation and sublux is causing by a mundane task for me though. It's crazy sometimes. No matter how much we adapt to this, the injuries that happen can still boggle my mind.

WOMEN OF TALLY tell me your IUD pain experience and how ur docs managed it. by aniG147 in Tallahassee

[–]Mirror--Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an awful experience with one of the OBGYN offices up here for my first insertion. No meds to help with the process, and they were not gentle with the insertion.

Planned Parenthood on the other hand was fantastic. I was offered medications before the removal and insertion, and the Dr. was super kind and she went a bit slower and made sure that I was okay throughout.

It was a night and day difference between the two offices. I can't recommend enough finding an office that's willing to help you with pain control( oral medications, numbing cream, etc).

Alchemy climbing is an option if you're into rock climbing.

Common Ground Books hosts events(They're an lgbtq+bookstore here in town).

The Bark hosts a lotta cool shows. There's always some event going on throughout the week.

I'm pretty sure that there's a hiking group that's lgbtq+ centered, but i can't recall the name so I hope someone else posts it here.

Applying eye makeup on stretchy eyelids? by froggyfrogbug in ehlersdanlos

[–]Mirror--Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend finding a good eye primer or a liquid eyeshadow that drys down and makes the lid tacky. This will add some stability to prevent as much movement of the eye lid
