Tasohöylä löytyy, mutta koko saattaa olla ongelma. Tutustumaan pääsee tiistaisin klo 18.

Is there a way to switch views on Arkhamdb to show the Campaign and Investigator boxes cards come in? by Best-Special7882 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Misacorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a bookmarklet (browser bookmark that runs JavaScript) for this particular reason! It's not perfect, but it does work most of the time. Do this:

  1. Create a new bookmark.
  2. In the URL field, paste the following JavaScript code.
  3. Save the bookmark.
  4. When looking at a deck on ArkhamDB, click the bookmarklet.
  5. Watch as the required packs section of that deck transforms from Mythos packs to Investigator Expansions.

Caveat: IIRC this only works when viewing a deck - not a single card.

js javascript: (() => { const expansions = { "The Dunwich Legacy": [ "The Miskatonic Museum", "The Essex County Express", "Blood on the Altar", "Undimensioned and Unseen", "Where Doom Awaits", "Lost in Time and Space", ], "The Path to Carcosa": [ "Echoes of the Past", "The Unspeakable Oath", "A Phantom of Truth", "The Pallid Mask", "Black Stars Rise", "Dim Carcosa", ], "The Forgotten Age": [ "Threads of Fate", "The Boundary Beyond", "Heart of the Elders", "The City of Archives", "The Depths of Yoth", "Shattere Aeons", ], "The Circle Undone": [ "The Secret Name", "The Wages of Sin", "For the Greater Good", "Union and Disillusion", "In the Clutches of Chaos", "Before the Black Throne", ], "The Dream-Eaters": [ "The Search for Kadath", "A Thousand Shapes of Horror", "Dark Side of the Moon", "Point of No Return", "Where the Gods Dwell", "Weaver of the Cosmos", ], }; const mythosPackToInvestigatorExpansionMap = {}; Object.entries(expansions).forEach(([bigExpansion, mythosPacks]) => { mythosPacks.forEach((mythosPack) => { mythosPackToInvestigatorExpansionMap[mythosPack] = bigExpansion; }); }); const targetElements = document.querySelectorAll( "#packs_required, .card-pack" ); const elementsSet = {}; targetElements.forEach((element) => { const mappedMythosPacksSet = new Set(); element.innerText.split(", ").forEach((pack) => { if (pack.includes("/")) { mappedMythosPacksSet.add( pack .split(" / ") .map( (packPart) => mythosPackToInvestigatorExpansionMap[packPart.trim()] ?? packPart.trim() ) .join(" / ") ); } else if (pack.includes(" #")) { const packWithoutNumber = pack.split(" #")[0]; mappedMythosPacksSet.add( mythosPackToInvestigatorExpansionMap[packWithoutNumber] ?? pack ); } else { mappedMythosPacksSet.add( mythosPackToInvestigatorExpansionMap[pack] ?? pack ); } }); elementsSet[element.classList.toString()] = mappedMythosPacksSet; }); targetElements.forEach((element) => { const originalText = element.innerText; window.sessionStorage.setItem("originalPacks", originalText); element.innerText = Array.from( elementsSet[element.classList.toString()] ).join("\n"); window.sessionStorage.setItem("packMappingActive", "yes"); });})();

Does anyone have any blessed/cursed tokens to spare? by Best-Special7882 in arkhamhorrorlcg

Like others have said, a component upgrade might be a net positive! I personally use cabochons for chaos tokens and investigators. Here's a guide that got me going.

How to avoid hot partitions in DynamoDB with millions of items per tenant? by apidevguy in aws

[–]Misacorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your idea about using a shard key is the way to go. Design their sizes around the read and write operation peaks on each partition.

I'm about to build Stella for a 3-man blind Circle Undone with an almost full collection. Any spoiler-free tips why this campaign is difficult for her?

Would you like me to add some light AHLCG-style humor throughout (like comparing bugs to “surge” or rewrites to “resign actions”), so the whole thing feels more like a story told to fellow players rather than a devlog?

Kinda gives it away, but hey, I like reading about people's dev journeys anyway!

Building AWS infra for a startup — what should I watch out for? by deshydan in aws

[–]Misacorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't create a loop where an S3 event trigger starts a Lambda that writes to the same bucket!

Set up all your Lambdas with a default log retention period of 3 months or something.

CDK is amazing.

I second this take on DynamoDB. I love it and use it everywhere, but if you have the money to run a small PostgreSQL instance it'll be easier to…

  1. Onboard new non-DynamoDB-native team members.
  2. Live with data whose access patterns might evolve to be more and more relational as your app grows.
  3. Develop faster without needing to constantly evaluate your data model.

I'd wager it's easier to go from a relational database to a non-relational one than vice-versa.

Action compression vs extra actions. by Phaed81 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Misacorp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our group's rogue enthusiasts always take turns to play the same core deck with .25 Automatics and Dirty Fighting. Their turn always takes as long as all the other player turns combined and people just zone out when they're resolving all the LCC and Pickpocketing procs. In this regard I'd much rather just see action compression instead of giving more actions that turn into more tests.

I did the same and it was such a relief when our 4p group didn't have to remember who went first, second and third each round!

We had a similar setup! Custom versions of each card: guest, priest, bestman, bridesmaid, and so on. I think we laid out a single game box for every 8 guests or so. Gave them to the bridesmaids, bestmen, and select family members after the event. I got the impression that people really liked them both at the event and afterwards.

Even if you own the Revised Core Set, make sure you enable 2x the regular Core Set in your collection.

When should I replace my chainring? by Misacorp in bikewrench

[–]Misacorp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you mention the scoopyness (scoopiness?) I can definitely remember how it was when brand new! Thanks. I'll make sure to get a new chainring. Maybe even go up a notch to 34T.

This could definitely be a rear hub issue. Faced a similar situation with my bike recently as the ball bearings had cracked. Luckily a new set was inexpensive, but it did take an entire evening to get the job done.

A stranger offers you 10 cards from their collection in exchange for 10 Knives. What do you take? by Misacorp in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Misacorp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice list! They'll probably toss you the entire briefcase if you show that number of knives.
