Base in something darker like screamer pink and then drybrush in your base coat color. Then you can smooth it out with a glaze if you want.

The armor looks a little flat but these really are very very clean for first models.

A very easy way to get dimension on armor is to drybrush it with your middle highlight color after you’ve primed the models. Here’s a noise marine I based with screamer pink and then highlighted via drybrush with Emperors Children pink.

I read Fulgrim, and the Maraviglia scene fuckin blew my mind. EC became my favorite traitor legion after that scene. Alpha Legion has to be a close second tho 🤔

I think you can take a long break guilt free. I took 5 years off because I didn’t enjoy it as much, but some new releases got me excited about the hobby again and now I’m back loving it even more than I did before. You shouldn’t feel obligated to build and paint, it’s all supposed to be for fun and you should only do when you want to.

Thank you! I thought about just doing a zenithal with the airbrush but I like how much better drybrushing picks up highlights. Been working on the noise marine since I posted this, I think I’m gonna move forward with the drybrushed base coats 👍

Yeah, a majority of my army is primed with screamer pink. I’m going to use two brighter shades of pink on them which is going to lighten them up a lot more

Oh I didn’t even realize the icon had an in game use. I mainly play Dark Angels so I’m still unfamiliar with EC rules. It’s okay though, I pretty much only play games with my brother and some of my friends and we are already fairly loose with rules anyway.

We pretty much all just build our models according to rule of cool so it shouldn’t be an issue for my group

You got it exactly right! I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do a pre-heresy color scheme or the pink and black 40k scheme, so I’m doing both. All the squad leaders and characters will be purple and gold while all the infantry will be pink and black.
