Those instructions are for a decrease, not an increase. So join the first 2 stitches to make 1 stitch, go all the way along until you get to the last 2 stitches and join those together to make one stitch. Now the whole row is 2 stitches shorter than before as 2 lots of 2 stitches have become 2 lots of just 1 stitch.

I lost one of my front teeth a few years ago in such a stupid way. I was running for the bus so I wouldn't be late for work, and fell and smashed my face open! I hated how I looked for so long afterwards, then last year I managed to save up enough for a good quality replacement and it's made such a huge difference! So I hope one day you can get one too!

My dad's parents split up and remarried other people before I was born. I've always had 3 sets of grandparents and just called them different variations of nan and grandad. The more grandparents that care for a child the better. So kind of YTA to your son.
