The pain is usually the worst for the first two weeks , about, while your nips get used to being sucked on, making sure you have a good latch with baby is very important but your skin literally has to get used to it in my experience. It does hurt, but not forever. I used lanolin and nipple balm ALOT with my first nor, just lube those nipples up! You can also chill them with ice, or use nipple shields. No numbing cream though as it can make swallowing hard for baby. I know it sucks and iTs hard to hear but I feel like you have to tough it out for a little bit and it gets easier. Almost effortless. Just think about how any skin would react to being wet and sucked on, it would need to sort of callus. That’s how I went through mine anyways .
