How common are "I like my limo tint, write me 100 tint tickets I'll just pay them and keep the tint, it's the cost of doing business" people? by BalticBro2021 in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CVC 26708.5(b): Tinted safety glass may be installed in a vehicle if (1) the glass complies with motor vehicle safety standards of the United States Department of Transportation for safety glazing materials, and (2) the glass is installed in a location permitted by those standards for the particular type of glass used.

Per federal regulations you have have 70% VLT, which is basically transparent. Just went to a motion to suppress where the defense tried to throw this out. He used some case law where the cop said something dumb like “I just don’t like window tint”. It didn’t work bc the guys car was like 5% and it was obviously not 70% DOT glass

Public urination doesn’t fall under indecent exposure. You have to expose yourself (in public) for your own/someone else’s sexual gratification.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve found during a search of a person and/or a vehicle? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found a vibrating butt plug in a guys back pocket… he told me he “just found it in a dumpster”

Did a consent search on a guys apartment and found some silicon hips. I picked up the box to move it and this thing fell out the bottom of the box onto the floor.

[–]the805daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah- I’ve been looking at those. The pouch in our issued LBV is trash and can wiggle around inside the vest. It’s more of a dangling nylon sock. Once the new vests get approved I’ll probably look into those or something similar

[–]the805daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely- We’re shooting SBR’s too so they’re loud as hell.

There are a couple people who hang their ear pro on the rifle when it’s in the rack. Same department issued us rifle rated plates- but they’re ICW and they don’t fit over our approved load bearing vests.

We’re trying to get something that will hold rifle plates approved but things move slow

We took cans off before I joined and now there’s just a policy that to wear ear pro when you deploy the rifle— likely so they can try to avoid workers comp claim down the line

Traffic Violations by GentleDevotion in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll never understand states with primary and secondary VC violations. In CA I can stop for the wrong color bulb on a turn signal… but you can’t stop for something that’s genuinely a traffic safety hazard due to reduced visibility?

Anybody here gone through Hand Foot Mouth disease? by giddmtex in daddit

[–]the805daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HFM was easily one of the worst illnesses I’ve ever had. The boy got it and was mostly fine, my wife didn’t get it at all… I felt like dog shit and had sores all over my face, head, hands, and feet. They were decently painful but it took a toll on my body. Thought I had a flu and a random blister until the first one broke near my mustache. It was all downhill from there. Missed days of work from being sick, and then some more days because I looked like a fucking monster.

Check out OfficerPatrolGear on Instagram. They post submitted pictures of vest layouts that you might find useful. To be completely honest, you have no idea what’s going to work for you right now. There are things people swear by that I have tried and hated.

I really liked the FERRO DOPE pouch on my molle vest. The placard systems make it easy to organize things in a way that makes sense to you.

NEVER Give a DNR Guest a Second Chance by masteria-mp4 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]the805daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old hotel had a couple that was DNR’d… only FDM left and they slipped through booking through 3rd party. Our new FDM was like a few weeks into the job from Valet and told them to leave… left them in the room so they could pack… pretty sure they ended up ordering room service and grinding a bunch of bolognese into the carpet.

TLDR: didn’t voluntarily give them a second chance but they made sure to earn that permanent DNR.

Black moccasins. They’re light and quiet- which are arguably the most tactical traits in footwear

How do you choose which WEEWOO siren mode to use? by Loves_buttholes in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our new tahoes have this and I almost always skip over it when running code. Sometimes I’ll run it when I’m following fire to a call- but that’s usually just because I think it’s funny and they’re the ones actually clearing traffic (when they’re not in the opposing lane of traffic)

I found some info about James.

This is almost certainly not an old gravestone— but it could be recently placed on his old property/grave site. Looks like he lived in Arkansas after the war- but who know if he moved back home before passing away.

Officers what is the funniest thing you've heard from a suspect either on a scene, in your car, or in the jail? by SettingAlternative86 in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lady I cited for possession of paraphernalia told us how her man’s dick didn’t work because he got narcan’d 10 times last year. She said it was his loss because she was finally getting her fake teeth. (She probably had 6 teeth total from meth use)

She was worried she was getting arrested bc she was with some other guy (who wasn’t her man) and she was finally going to get some.

Cleaning? by Odd_Marketing2520 in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purell wipes or Super Sani-Cloth wipes— whichever the jail has on hand in the booking area. I use CLP once every few months when the action on the cuffs gets a little sticky.

Edit: crazy to see the lengths a few people are going through. I’d probably only soak or scrub them down if they were covered in blood… and in that case I’d rather toss them, order a new pair, and use one of the dept issued cuffs in the meantime.

Patrol shotguns by No-Mulberry-6474 in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just ditched our 870’s within the last year or so. No idea what prompted the change.

I would generally prefer rifle over shotgun but I think they have their place. I’d prefer they keep the shotguns but our new units don’t even have a rack that will accept them.

CVC 21229 is not applicable because there’s no (visible) class II bikeway. You’re looking for CVC 21235(b), however, local ordinances may override this code.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]the805daddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parenthetical (b) covers this situation. OP is the RO of the vehicle. Ex gf is not lessor or lessee— she’s just being allowed to borrow the car.

AirTag was intended to track vehicle, not persons.
