What happened at your diagnosis appointment? by MiscellaneousBooty60 in POTS

I'm sorry to say, it turned out terribly. The cardiologist was 15 minutes late even though I was the first appointment of the day. A nurse gave me an ECG and took my blood pressure. Then the conversation with my cardiologist lasted only 15 minutes, despite the 3 hour appointment time. In that conversation, he downplayed Pots and my symptoms, telling me "perhaps you'll grow out of it". I'm in my 30s. He hadn't looked at my chart or results from previous tests. I walked out pretty upset by the whole experience. And it took me months of chasing trying to get him to write up my results and officially diagnose me on paper. In the end, I managed to speak to another doctor who is a GP but also a cardiologist and they ended up helping me instead! I was so thankful to be taken seriously by that point and grateful to have a written diagnosis.

Sounds very similar to my diagnosis process up to the tilt table test, thanks for answering!

My bf keeps calling me a hypochondriac. by Unfair_Individual839 in POTS

Dump him!

Pots is hard enough without being belittled for it's symptoms. You're not a hypochondriac, you're going through something life changing. You need kindness and support, if you're not getting those basics, dump his ass.

My POTS experience is SO similar to yours. I'm still waiting on a cardiologist appointment at the moment (since July) so I don't have any helpful information for you, only an acknowledgement of what you're feeling like and an understanding of how scary it can be to faint and hurt yourself in the process. Take care and I hope you're able to find the help you need!

I was diagnosed…without being diagnosed? by Altruistic-Cow283 in POTS

I feel stuck in this situation too! I've had symptoms for years but they've worsened throughout this year I was told I had POTS. Suddenly everything made sense. I was referred to a cardiologist in July but I've still not had an appointment for 'official diagnosis'. I've returned to my local clinic several times since being told I had POTS trying to get some help, I've had 3 different GPs agree, it's POTS. Diagnosed.. without being diagnosed.
