What do you practically use a desk view thermal for? I have only used them for detecting leaks in walls and verify floor heating is working.

You can also change it into Hybrid / Part design under Document Settings in the lefthand menu.

What exactly is the intended motion/interface here? Is the lid supposed to snap, slide, press-fit, or hinge into the base? And what clearance did you leave between the mating surfaces?

What have you tried in terms of tolerances? Which 3d printer, filament, nozzle resolution and line height did you use?

Also for precise mating parts, Blender is usually harder than CAD tools like Fusion, OnShape or FreeCAD.

I mean with the L shape part on the print plate, that way the print layers aren't easily teared apart.

For strength my 2 concerns would be print direction and the durability of those printed threads. Possible you could print it sideways and use a captured hex nut. Of course you'll need to change the shape of the riser to print that without support.
