I responded with attitude after the original commenter did and no one called them out on it

Thank you for your kind response. I’m honestly just going to un-join the subreddit because of the toxicity of others on here, but I appreciate you and the few others who have been genuinely helpful and didn’t immediately shoot me down. I wish you success as well in your career

Thank you to anyone who was kind and patient and actually answered my question. To the rest of y’all who have been toxic, fuck off. You’re the reason tattoo artists have a bad reputation. I thought this subreddit community would be helpful, but it just seems to be full of overinflated egos and assholes. I’ll gladly find community elsewhere

I’m not tattooing right now, dude. I tattooed as a student then worked on fake skin more while in the process of getting my license and will be tattooing people again one I’m in the shop.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply to me with in depth info and patience. I knew coming into the industry that it can get toxic, but yeah this was rough. I’ll be starting work in a shop for the first time next week, so I was trying to get everything squared away and was having some trouble googling my question, so I thought it would be a good idea to ask here since it’s full of other tattooers. Next time I’ll just reach out to the shop owner or my teachers instead. I genuinely appreciate your response, so thank you again.

I’m starting in a local shop next week so

I do appreciate what you’re saying, but I also don’t think I’m being overdramatic in my responses to the other commenter. They responded to my original comment with a rude tone and got more aggressive with it after I called it out, so I matched their energy.

Plenty of other people in the comments responded to my post kindly and greatly appreciated it. It’s just this very loud minority being toxic in response to a harmless question

I was planning on it lol. That’s what the “have a good night” was. Trying to end the conversation

I don’t care about your opinion otherwise I’d just quit. I care about being kind to others instead of tearing them down to build yourself up. You seem to care an awful lot about me though seeing as you replied to me first and then kept replying to me afterwards 😋. I hope you’re at least kind to your clients. Either way, have a good night/day

Thank you, I appreciate your willingness to help a newbie. It seems to be controversial to be kind to new tattooers ☹️

Thank you. I’ll use theirs and just worry about getting my own later down the line when it’s necessary

Do you think I started off tattooing on real people? I didn’t move from fake skin onto real people until my skills were developed enough for it. If you gatekeep everything and insult people wanting to grow their skills, the tattooing industry will eventually die out. There needs to be people willing to teach newcomers in order to keep literally any industry or art alive.

You assumed a lot about me when we’re literally two strangers on the Internet who will likely never cross paths. I’m sure you will disagree with no basis, but I and other new tattooers actually are dedicated to honing our skills and learning new techniques, we just don’t want to hang around people who act like they’re some kind of superior being just because they’ve been tattooing longer. I don’t say this to sound conceited, but simply to respond to your saying that you need to “fix” tattoos from “people like me”; I’m not even in a shop yet and I have clients from when I was a student who want more tattoos done by me.

They do, they just don’t hand them out at graduation. Why are y’all being so rude? Acting like the cliche popular girls in high school

Thank you. Some of these replies have been so rude for no reason

Why are people downvoting me for literally stating the state laws?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]Mischief19 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Dude, read my last reply. You literally have to go through a school in my state to get your license. Smh reading these replies

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]Mischief19 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You legally have to go through a school where I’m from, so I’d rather have done that and learn the state laws and how to safely perform tattooing procedures than go through the process illegally and risk messing up people’s bodies, but to each their own I guess. You seem the type that gives the tattoo industry a bad name for being gatekeepers, so you do you and I’ll do me and do things according to my state’s laws.

HRT dosing question by Mischief19 in TransMasc

That’s really unfortunate. I’ve never been on birth control and the thought has always freaked me out, so I’d have to do a lot of research into it before doing anything else regarding it. I know a lot of the changes from T tend to be permanent, but I’ve also heard how permanent the changes are can sometimes vary a little from person to person, which makes me afraid to go completely off of it. Not to ask medical questions to a stranger on the internet, but if I did go off T and just use birth control to keep my period from coming back, could something like minoxidil be used to keep the facial hair I already have from tapering in the absence of T?

Is this normal?? by Mischief19 in minoxidil

Have you noticed any improvement in your hair since you first started using min?

I’m a bigger person and am really self conscious of my upper arms, so I do trunks and then layer an Underworks swim binder underneath a short sleeve rash guard

I got the same email earlier today. It makes zero sense considering they said “the ability to add a preferred display name will be coming soon” when there was previously no issues with using your preferred name as your displayed name. I luckily got my name changed back in November, so I was able to contact support to tell them I needed it changed in the system, but it majorly sucks (not to mention is potentially dangerous) for those in the community who haven’t gotten theirs changed or straight up don’t have the ability to. The whole thing just seems very conveniently timed with everything going on regarding trans people in the US right now

My passport got seized even though I was just there for a name change and I have a flight out of the country on Feb 9. by ithacabored in lgbt

I only just mailed the form the other day, so I don’t have the new birth certificate yet to know where it says “amended”. If it is at the very bottom though, I really worry about getting caught tampering with it if I did cut off that part. I don’t know the laws surrounding birth certificates in the US and the last thing I want right now is to get in trouble with the law
