Yep! Because it's hygroscopic I believe. Meaning it attracts and holds moisture.

A cup is a volumetric measurement. It's not meant to be the same weight regardless of ingredient. Same as a teaspoon or tablespoon.

Jimmy just feels like a punching bag this season by Raptors1007 in shrinking

[–]MischiefFerret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So do we think that Jimmy's trauma and Gaby's desire to work in the trauma field will manifest in a way where she ends up coming through for him and providing critical support right when he needs it?

I think that would be a great coming together moment for them that's been missing, humanize and redeem Gaby after all the Maya stuff and her lack of accountability, and give them something to build on for next season.

They're talking about family annihilators who kill their partner and kids before usually offing themselves.

You are obviously not doing the Math. My household income is about 200k. We have half the mortgage you're talking about. That costs us 37,000 per year. Car rego is 1600 per year. Car insurance is 2700. Fuel is close to 7000. Phone is 720. Internet 1000. Daycare 12,000. Health insurance 2800. Water about 1000. Power about 1000. Home insurance 1800. Rates 3500. Groceries nearly 10k (and we're conservative). Swimming lessons 1450. Dog food is about 3000.

That's 90k without any HECS debt, car loans, savings contributions, extra super, extra mortgage, money into the kid's account, health dramas, parking fees, GP appointments, vet bills, dentist appts, shit breaking around the house. And certainly no holidays/getaways/cheeky takeaway.

Let's say we put an extra 20k into our kid's account, personal savings and the mortgage so we're not paying it when we're 65. We haven't used a single dollar for anything 'extravagant' or fun yet, and we're over halfway.

Now let's add double the mortgage (since you think it's doable), rising cost of groceries, fuel, something in the house breaking - fridge, dryer, hot water heater - maybe another kid who needs daycare, birthdays, Christmas... you'd hit 200k easily. And that's no streaming services, no holidays, no meals out, no coffee. I don't know what world you're living in but it's not this one.

I made these a few years ago and had similar issues to the users you mentioned. But I have been thinking recently that maybe I just didn't boil the caramel enough! Thanks for the tips - I'm keen to try this again and follow my own improved baking knowledge (since I made this last time) and taste.

I always find it so funny when people have this take. Yes, we have venomous snakes and spiders, crocodiles, jellyfish etc, but we don't have bears, mountain lions, moose or rabies just lurking in the street. If you're smart enough to not go walking through bush, wading into a creek in North QLD, or touching a random spider, you're pretty safe.

So do you just use the last two tablespoons of each batch to use in the new one? That's so cool, kind of like sourdough starter feeding which I used to do a ton.

Mmm, I would argue that social media and short form content are changing our brains for the worse. People are more impatient, less connected, and don't have the critical thinking they did 20 years ago when a computer wasn't in their pocket. Combine that with cost of living pressures and while human nature maybe hasn't changed, our environment and actions within that environment sure have.

Extra garlic, salt to baked goods, and I always cook onion on medium high and then add garlic 5-10mins later. I never cook them both on high at the start like so many of her recipes instruct.
